Daily Update 12*29*06

Styles P Suffers Broken Leg In Road Rage Incident

Styles P, of D-Block, was involved in a road rage incident on Saturday afternoon (December 23), resulting in the rapper suffering a broken leg.

According to WABC-TV in New York, the rapper (real name: David Styles), 32, was cut off by a truck on Saw Mill River Road, which angered him. He then returned the favor, resulting in both vehicles stopping.

Styles then got out of his 2003 Mercedes-Benz, threw napkins at the truck's window after a verbal altercation and returned to his car. Upon returning, the truck rammed him. Styles P's left leg was broken in the process.

He was taken to Westchester Medical Center for treatment, and was later released. The driver of the truck was 50-year-old John Henson, who was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.
Henson reportedly told police he was not aware he had cut off Styles' car and that he was feared "for his safety" when the rapper got back into his car after throwing the napkins. He is scheduled to appear in Town Court on January 2.

Mike Tyson Arrested on Suspicion of DUI and Cocaine Possession
Mike Tyson was arrested early Friday on suspicion of driving under the influence and possession of cocaine after police stopped him shortly after he left a Scottsdale nightclub, police said.

The former heavyweight champion appeared in Maricopa County Superior Court in Phoenix later Friday and was ordered released without bond on a felony drug possession charge.

No alcohol was detected in his system, and a DUI-drugs charge was not filed pending toxicology tests.

Tyson, 40, will be required to submit to drug and alcohol testing and is prohibited from drinking or taking any nonprescription drugs while the case is pending.
Tyson was dressed in an oversized golf shirt, baggy jeans and tennis shoes without strings when he was brought into court. He said nothing and appeared calm while waiting for the judge, though he periodically tapped his feet or fingers.

At one point during the brief hearing, he thanked Commissioner Sheila Madden. As he was leaving court, he shook his head when asked by a reporter if he wanted to comment. He did not enter a plea and did not have a lawyer.

Tyson was stopped after his car almost struck a sheriff's vehicle while leaving the club at about 1:45 a.m., said Sgt. Larry Hall.

Less than 24 hours after the announcement of Spike Lee’s planned biopic on the late James Brown, folks are already throwing their hats into the mix to be considered for the project.

According to the New York Post’s Page Six, Usher is hoping to play the lead role, while Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, born Stacey Ferguson, is looking to play one of Brown’s wives.
As previously reported, Usher was personally anointed the “Godson of Soul” by James Brown at the 2005 Grammy’s.

"Man, when he called me the 'Godson of Soul,' I damn near fell out backstage," Usher says. "Truth be told, I was so excited while on stage that I didn't even know that he gave me that name. It wasn't until I was backstage in my dressing room and someone from my staff told me he named me that. Then I actually saw a replay of the awards show."

Timbaland Goes Solo, Recruits 50 & JT For New CD

After being nominated for multiple Grammys this year for his work with pop acts Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado, Timbaland is finally ready to return as a solo artist and release a new album.

The as-yet-untitled disc is set for a tentative March release and will be the super-producer's first release since 2001's Under Construction Pt. II, a collaborative effort with his long time partner Magoo. Though not confirmed, it is believed that the lead single off the album will be the song "Give It To Me", which features both Timberlake and Furtado.

Straying away from a strictly hip-hop formula, Timbo is hoping to experiment and bring a new sound to the forefront with this latest effort.

"He ventures into the alternative world and the real pop world," said Timbaland protégé Nate "Danja" Hills in an interview with Billboard. "He has so many different sounds from hip-hop, to pop, to rock on this album. And he pulls every single one of them off perfectly." He continues, "His ear is more attuned to an international sound. Any type of music with a crazy melody, he is automatically attracted to. He knows how to transform those melodies to something urban. He knows how to put the oomph behind something pretty, or melodic and big. When you get the right vocals on it, it turns into something crazy international."

The highly anticipated disc is rumored to boast guest appearances from artists including Bjork, Missy Elliot, and G-Unit boss 50 Cent among others. Fans who plan on catching Justin Timberlake on his current tour may also be privileged to catch a sneak preview of Timbo's new material, as he is rumored to have his own section in the show according to Hills.

Kanye Gets Dissed
Kanye West does not like being ignored and he will let you know about it. Earlier this year, he proved it by lashing out after losing at the MTV Europe Awards. He has actually proven this many other times, at other award shows. He's also claimed publications would lose credibility if they did not rate his albums as classic material. Now, reports indicate that the rapper/producer has taken this even further.

According to The Mirror, West was furious after being turned down by European Pop singer Amelle (of The Sugababes). His assistant called Amelle and claimed that Kanye didn't "like being ignored."

"She said she was calling on behalf of Kanye who was furious because I had offended him by not dating him. I told her that Kanye knew I had a boyfriend, but she wasn't having any of it," Amelle said. "She said he was not used to being treated like that, and I should be more considerate next time I see him."

"Just because Kanye clicks his fingers I'm not gonna come running," she added.

The singer went on to explain that she loved her current boyfriend and had no intentions to date Kanye.

No word from Kanye West as of press time.

Recently, Kanye made the news after recieving a law suit from Evel Knievel. Ye has also been making noise via other peoples' records. He can currently be heard producing/rapping on tracks by Nas, The Game and Jay-Z.

Sprint Employee Fired Over Ludacris Booking, Claims Racism

A former Sprint Nextel employee has reportedly filed a lawsuit against the company claiming she was fired for hiring Ludacris for a work-related event without her boss' consent.

According to the Kansas City Star, Elizabeth Henry claims she was asked to organize a Las Vegas party as a reward for Sprint's top call center employees. The workers allegedly requested an African-American entertainer at the event.

Henry asserts her boss green-lighted two entertainers, Ludacris and LL Cool J, but after another employee allegedly told her boss that "she must be into the black thing," her boss became concerned.
Henry claims she assured her boss that Ludacris would perform according to "PG-13 standards," but if they were still a concern, she would get another black performer.

Her boss allegedly responded that any black performer would be controversial. Henry, who is white, called the remark discriminatory.

Henry claims she was then interrogated for five hours and was fired later that same day.
"Her boss said she was terminating her for insubordination," Brendan J. Donelon, Henry's lawyer, told The Star. "She said it had to do with the fact that she retained Ludacris as the entertainer without her permission.

"I think what happened is that her boss approved it and didn't think anything of it until somebody said, 'Hey, have you ever listened to their music?'" he added.
Henry's suit is seeking unspecified damages. Sprint officials could not be reached for comment.

Bill O'Reilly Disses 50 Cent & Kwanzaa

Bill O’Reilly is at again. After numerous attacks on Hip Hop culture and a very public war of words with Ludacris, the “culture warrior” has compared G Unit label head 50 Cent to Kwanzaa.

During the Dec. 19 edition of Radio Factor, O’Reilly pondered out loud if there was a “50 Cent symbol” that could be put up in honor of the celebration, which runs from Dec. 26-Jan. 1.

The remark came in response to a caller in regards to religious freedom. Media Matters posted the transcript:

CALLER: I don't think that any religious symbol other than the Nativity should be put up during Christmas because Christmas is a federal holiday. Hanukkah is not, and winter solstice isn't. If they want them that way, pass the law and then you can put them up.

O'REILLY: Yeah. But then when you get into the exclusionary, you get into, "Yeah, it's a federal holiday, but we're only gonna honor the secular meaning of the holiday. We're not gonna honor the religion." And then you get the little baby Jesus. I can see where you're coming from. But I don't think -- look, the spirit of the season is goodwill toward men, correct, [caller]?

O'REILLY: All right. So goodwill toward men means you're generous. And then if you're generous, you put up all the symbols. There is only -- there's really only one symbol, and that's the menorah. There's no Kwanzaa symbol. Maybe -- is there a 50 Cent that we have to put up or something? Is there a Kwanzaa symbol? What is that? It's a candelabra like Liberace had? All right. We'll put that up, too. I don't mind.

Nas Scores #1 Spot, Bow Wow Trails Behind, Young Jeezy Free Falls

In this week's Hip-Hop Charts, Nas resurrects the rap game, Bow Wow pays the price, and Young Jeezy slides to third.

Debuting on the Hip-Hop Charts at No. 1 this week is Nas. With the lead single, "Hip-Hop is Dead," regulating the tri-state airwaves and hype for the Hov collabo, "Black Republicans," causing commotion throughout much of the hip-hop community, the Queensbridge legend has topped the competition this week by a long shot. The sales for Hip-Hop is Dead, Nas' first release on Def Jam which features cameos with The Game, Snoop Dogg, and Kanye West, to name a few, read off at 355,000.

Debuting at No. 6 this week is Bow Wow. The Chris Brown-featured "Shorty Like Mine" has helped the Ohio rapper to round in big units for The Price of Fame. After extensive BET, MTV, and other major promo, Bow Wow has moved 261,000 decent units.

Tumbling seventeen slots to No. 18 is Young Jeezy. After debuting at No. 1 last week, the Def Jam recording artist has fallen hard but is still helping to keep the legendary record label on top for fourth quarter, bangin' it out with 184,900 discs sold. To date, Jeezy has surpassed the gold, moving 538,400 copies.

Next up is Eminem and his Shady camp, slipping ten slots to land at No. 23. This week, Em and his peoples have made off with 152,400 units, bringing the total to 613,400 after 3 weeks on the charts.
Making a come-up on the charts this week is Jay-Z, coming in at No. 27. The Brooklyn MC has made a five-step comeback on the charts, as the total for Kingdom Come sits tight at 1,145,900. Hova has scored 136,000 more discs this week, compared to last week's 86,700.

Coming in at No. 38 this week is Snoop Dogg. Blue Carpet Treatment has still been getting it in, sitting at official gold status. After 5 weeks, Snoop has moved 587,000 copies, with the week-in total reading off at 97,700.

Debuting on the charts this week at No. 48 is Trick Daddy. The Florida rapper hasn't bagged enough attention to make an impressive entrance in the rap race, with his numbers reading off at 87,300 for week one.

Stepping up a few slots is Ludacris, coming in at No. 57. Ludacris has finished with 938,800 copies thus far, with the 7-day cycle ending at 67,200.

Turning the tables, Justin Timberlake brings sexy back, Akon follows close behind, Ciara holds it down, Beyonce makes a comeback, Fergie keeps going, and Mary J. Blige goes for round two. Taking down the No. 9 seat is Justin Timberlake. The pop star is back on top of the competition this week with 229,800 discs sold, a big jump from last week's numbers reading off at 116,000. To date, Justin has finished off with 2,294,500 copies. Also jumping big numbers is Akon, coming in at No. 10. Top 5 Albums of 2006

I was going to wait until Friday to post this but, Looking at the release schedule for the week i don't see anything that would make the list.

5. Ice Cube- Laugh Now, Cry later
Standout Tracks
"Why we Thugs"
"Child Support" and
"Stop Snitchin" Feat Swiss Beats

Dont call it a comeback!!! With Laugh Now, Cry later Ice Cube released his most constant work since his days of rolling with the Lynch mob. He attacks the mic with a vengeance on "Child Support" rhyming like he just left N.W.A. yesterday. He drops knowledge on "the nigga trap" and the title track, and he even manages to get the club crunk with "Go to Church" although adding Snoop to this song sounds a little questionable they manage to pull it off. This Album is for all the die hard Ice cube fans who miss the nigga you love to hate, and not the dude that made are we there yet?

4. Snoop Dogg- Blue Carpet Treatment

Standout Tracks
"GangBangin 101" feat Game
"Which One Of you" feat 9 inch dix and Sooperfly
"Imagine" Feat Dr. Dre and D' angelo

The DoggFather Returns!!! With the Blue Carpet treatment, Snoop manages to find that comfortable balance between gangsta and pimp. Having "Thats that Shit" feat r. kelly, but Something for the thugs with "gangbangin 101" feat Game, Not to mention Snoop also Produced this track. Now there are a few missteps on this album. Such as the track "beat up on your pads" sounds like Snoop wants to be on Madden 07 with this song. i know its for his peewee football league, but if its for them just let them hear it. Other that that, and the album starts off kinda slow, but picks up around track 4.Overall, this is a solid album, and lets not forget the strip club banger "I wanna Fuck you" featuring Akon, this is the song that the dj's play when they want them tricks.... i mean customers to come up out them pockets. (dont ask how i know that.)

3. Jay-z- Kingdom Come
Standout Tracks
"The Prelude"
"Kingdom Come"
"Beach Chair feat. Chris Martin"

For all the talk about young Hov's subject matter and him alienating his young fans, understand this, Lyric for lyric and line for line Hov outshines most of his contemporaries. I mean with lines like:

I used to think rappin at 38 was ill/but last year alone i grossed 38 mil
I know i aint quite 38 but still,
The flow is so special got a 38 feel........

Ask any of today's so called hottest rappers to top that, and they cant, and that's just the intro. Besides the horrible combination of Jay, Usher, and Skateboard P, a combo that doesn't even sound good on paper. This is a solid album, in fact if that song wasn't on the album this would be a certified classic, and might have propelled this album to a higher place on this list. To the albums downfall it seems like Hov forgot what he said on "The Black Album.'

"......I dumbed down for my audience to double my dollars
the criticize me for it
yet they all yell holla...."

2. The Game- Doctors Advocate
Standout Tracks
"Da Shit"
"Doctor's Advocate" feat. Busta Rhymes & Chauncey Black
"California Vacation" feat. Snoop Dogg & Xzibit
"Why You Hate The Game" feat. Nas & Marsha (of Floetry)

This album single handily won me over. I admit to drinking the kool-aid 50 was selling, believing that Curtis and Dre, basically transformed a young Jayceon Taylor to the rhyme animal known as the game. i mean come on, if you rolling with 50 and the good doctor you cant help to go at least double, and the diss songs that 50 was doing was hilarious. i mean not rich still lying is a classic( you said you woke up out the coma in 2001, but your brother said you were never in a coma. you said you were in a gang, but your bother said you were never in a gang.)Besides that game is a very proud blood, and my allegiance wont allow me to support him, But with this album, there was no Dre, no 50, no Aftermath, and young JT delivers. In fact if he didn't keep telling you he wasn't on Aftermath, you would never know it. On California Vacation, I swore that was Dre saying "The Doctors Advocate" at the beginning of the song, but alas its just Game. He attacks each track like he had something to prove, and he did. he proved that he was a talented m.c. and more than just a puppet, like 50 painted him to be. however they re are a few flaws on this album. With all his constant praising of Dre, and Easy, Why is he not praising Cube the same way? i mean wasn't he the primary writer for Eazy and N.w.a? So Shouldn't he get the same praise they get??? but some how he is forgotten. Game does mention Cube about a total of 4 times on the album, but if you compare that to the times he say Dre, or Eazy, its no where near close. The track "one night" is good but the hook suggest a female that he only deals with when he is drunk or high, not his homeboys that he doesn't deal with at all, but I'm just nitpicking, this is a solid album from front to back. one of the few albums you can put in and just let play, and to think he did it all by himself.

and the Number 1 album of 2006.................

Nas- Hip Hop is Dead
Standout tracks

The whole damn album!!!!!!

What can i say about this album? This is the greatest album of 2006 by far. From Start to Finish the album bangs. the causal Fan will point to the obvious Jay-z and Nas collaboration of "Black Republicans", but that is not even the best track on the album, and that's saying alot. Everything on the album is perfect, the flow, the tracks, the hooks. even the continuity. the album is the most consistent album of 2006, and dare i say of Nas's Career. Even his obligatory collab with his wife Kelis is crazy, (did anybody notice on the intro she calls him Sin? Belly 2 perhaps) I would love to pick out a track for everyone to go to as soon as they put it in they re disc player, but i cant, just press play and enjoy you wont be disappointed.

Spike Lee Set To Direct James Brown Film

Director Spike Lee has signed on to shoot a movie about James Brown, the late "Godfather of Soul," Daily Variety reported on Wednesday. The authorized project is being developed for Viacom Inc.'s Paramount Pictures by Brian Grazer, the Oscar-winning producer of "A Beautiful Mind," the trade publication said, adding that production would likely begin in 2008.Brown, the self-proclaimed "hardest working man in show business," died of congestive heart failure on Monday, aged 73. The energetic singer of such soul anthems as "Sex Machine" and "I Feel Good," invented funk music, inspired the dance moves of Mick Jagger and Michael Jackson, and helped pave the way for hip-hop.In recent years, posthumous movies about soul singer Ray Charles and country outlaw Johnny Cash have scored at the box office and won Academy Awards.Daily Variety said Brown played an active role in the project's development, and granted access to his music rights.

Like everybody, I was surprised and saddened that James Brown died," Daily Variety quoted Grazer as saying. "Having known him well, and after spending lots of time with him and researching his life, it's somehow not surprising that he died on Christmas Day. He was the ultimate showman, all the way to the end."Lee, the director of "Malcolm X," was most recently in theaters with the thriller "Inside Man," which Grazer produced.

JAMES BROWN REMEMBERED , body to lie in state at Apollo Theater

Within hours of his death early Christmas morning, fans of James Brown had lit candles and placed flowers at his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, while devotees in his adopted hometown of Augusta, GA gathered at his statue to remember the music icon and his impact.
Meanwhile, everyone from family members, to civil rights champions, to fellow musicians, to the President of the United States continue to comment on the passing of the legendary “Godfather of Soul.”
"An American original, his fans came from all walks of life and backgrounds,” said President Bush in a statement. “James Brown's family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers this Christmas."
The larger-than-life entertainer, who famously “got on the good-foot” while belting such classic singles as "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag" and "I Got You (I Feel Good)," died of heart failure less than two days after he had been hospitalized with pneumonia and only three days after leading his annual holiday toy giveaway in Augusta. He was 73.
A public funeral service at an 8,500-seat arena bearing his name in Augusta has been set for Saturday, Brown's agent, Frank Copsidas, told The Associated Press. Brown will be buried later Saturday in Augusta. A private funeral service that will include family and friends will be held Friday.
On Thursday, members of the public will be able to view Brown's body, which will lie in state at the Apollo Theater in New York, Copsidas said. The body also will lie in state Saturday at James Brown Arena in Augusta, where the 1 p.m. public service will be held, Copsidas said.
At the time of his death, Brown also had diabetes and prostate cancer that was in remission. But he initially seemed fine at the hospital and even talked of attending his New Year's Eve show at B.B. King's Blues Club in New York, Copsidas said.
Brown was himself to the end, at one point saying, "I'm going away tonight," said friend Charles Bobbit, who was with Brown when he died. "I didn't want to believe him," he said. A short time later, Brown sighed quietly, closed his eyes and died, Bobbit said.
"What James Brown was to music in terms of soul and hip-hop, rap, all of that, is what Bach was to classical music,” said the singer’s close friend Rev. Al Sharpton, who will officiate at Brown's funeral service. “This is a guy who literally changed the music industry. He put everybody on a different beat, a different style of music. He pioneered it."
Sharpton tells the Associated Press of his first ever meeting with J.B. while backstage before an early 1970s concert. Brown, in front of a mirror combing his spiked hair, urged the impressionable teenager to aim high. Brown advised Sharpton not to "go for little things — go for the whole hog."
Then Brown, grabbing a microphone, kept talking right up to when he put the microphone to his lips and sang. The startled Sharpton realized he had followed his idol on stage.
"I didn't know what to do so I started dancing," Sharpton recalled in an interview Monday.
After that fateful concert in Newark, N.J., Brown supported Sharpton's fledgling youth group and brought him along so often on concerts that people thought Sharpton was Brown's road manager. Their father-and-son-like relationship continued to the end, when Sharpton learned of Brown's death in a 3 a.m. Christmas call from Brown's manager. The manager told Sharpton he and Brown were talking on the phone at 1:45 a.m. about old times when Brown took two breaths "and went out."
Sharpton called the death "the heaviest loss I've ever endured," and said he hopes Brown gets acknowledged in death for the full effect he had on music, social trends and blacks.
"I don't think he ever got his credit because people saw him just as the show man and not the music innovator and the social innovator that he was," Sharpton said. "He changed the perception of regular blacks. He wasn't tall, light skinned," he said. "He wasn't polished. He was us. It meant the rest of us could make it."
Sharpton said Brown also will be remembered for his effect on the country's social fiber.
"It was James Brown that made it fashionable to stop calling blacks Negro," he said. "Even though he had his legal difficulties, no one stopped giving him respect."
Sharpton says Brown is the reason he will not get rid of his permed, pompadour hairdo. A couple of decades ago, Brown asked the civil rights activist "to straighten your hair like mine so when people see you they think you're my son."
Sharpton said he will never give up the look: "That's my bond with James Brown," he said.
Meanwhile, there is already drama sparked by the singer’s widow, Tomi Rae Brown. Hours after his death, she was shut out of the Beech Island, S.C. home they shared with their 5-year-old son, claiming the gate was padlocked at the request of Brown's lawyer and accountant.
Tomi Rae, 36, said she was at a retreat when her 73-year-old husband died of heart failure. On Monday, she told the Augusta Chronicle: "The last thing he said to me was, 'I love you baby and I'll see you soon.'"
She returned to their home, only to be met by security guards who told her James Brown's lawyer, Buddy Dallas, and accountant, David Cannon, said she was not allowed inside, she said.
She said she does not own the deed to the home, but said she had a legal right to live there. "This is my home," she told a reporter for the newspaper outside the gate of the house. "I don't have any money. I don't have anywhere to go."
The couple had a tumultuous relationship since they married in December 2001. James Brown pleaded guilty in 2004 to a domestic violence charge stemming from an argument with his wife and was let off with a $1,087 fine. He was accused of pushing his wife to the floor and threatening to kill her at the couple's home about 70 miles southwest of Columbia.
In addition to Tomi Rae, Brown is survived by at least four children — his two daughters and sons Daryl and James Brown II, Copsidas said.

• "Y'all lost the Godfather of Soul, but I lost my father. I know the whole world loved him just as much as we loved him, so we're not mourning by ourselves," Brown's daughter Venisha Brown told the Augusta Chronicle as she stood near his statue in Augusta, fighting back tears.

• "Last night, he said 'I'm going to be there. I'm the hardest working man in show business.'" — Agent Frank Copsidas, on Brown's comments the night before he died about a scheduled New Year's Eve performance in New York.

David Banner Hands Out Cash For Xmas, Donates $15 Gs To Mississippi Families

Mississippi's own David Banner recently provided a Merry Christmas for hundreds of needy children in his home state.
On Christmas morning, the rapper went through the streets of Jackson, MS as well as Brookhaven, MS handing out money and toys to needy children and their parents before spending the holiday with his own loved ones. The rapper visited the Christian Brotherhood Apartments, Virden Addition, Washington Addition and other neighborhoods throughout the Jackson area in hopes of spreading a little holiday cheer. Banner used proceeds from a recent concert held in Florida to provide the gifts for the various families.
The Mississippi native, who recently received an award for his role in raising funds to assist Hurricane Katrina victims, hoped to send a message to any and all of his critics who scrutinize the rapper for his explicit lyrics among other things.
"I'm in the hood this morning," he said. "All you nay sayers, I don't see you. A lot of older rappers, they don't know how to give. Nobody even gave to them so I try to be the example."
Banner literally went to the streets to figure out what families were in need this Christmas. " I would ask, really ask the kids, like, who is really hurting in the hood, and they'll tell me and we'll go give the family some money. This is what makes me happy. The pressure of being an artist and especially being the first (rap) artist, people don't understand that pressure. And to see these kids smiles this morning who probably wouldn't have gotten nothing either way that really made my year."
In addition to toys, the rapper donated $15,000 to area families, an act that he feels was more than necessary. " It's about love and to be honest with you, I need it more than they need it," he explained. "This is what builds my spirit."

Bow Wow Takes It To The Court, Performs for Hometown Crowd

Bow Wow is heading back to his hometown of Columbus, Ohio this week to coach a special teen basketball invitational.

The 19-year-old Columbus native will be holding court for the kids of Barnett Recreation Center this Thursday (December 28) when they compete for this year's Winter Basketball Invitational. While the young superstar is set to help direct one squad, Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman will coach the opposing team. Tipping off at 2 p.m., the game has also attracted several unnamed NBA legends who will be adding assists as referees and assistant coaches.
Bow Wow is also scheduled to hit the stage in Columbus Thursday night; he'll be performing in support of his latest album at Veterans Memorial Auditorium.

The Price of Fame, Bow Wow's fifth album, was released on December 19. His first single "Shortie Like Mine" featuring Chris Brown is currently #1 on Billboards Hot Rap Charts.
In related news, IHH recently chopped it up with Bow Wow about getting the respect of his older rap peers.

"Cats like [Young] Jeezy, they see me in Atlanta, they know what I am about and they know what I do," Bow Wow told IHH exclusively. "Jeezy was like, 'I respect you lil' homie.' And even Nas said it. I found that interesting coming from cats that get that hood credibility. I always get heavyweight rappers telling me they like my record."

Nas & Cormega Squash Beef!

Nas performed before a sold out crowd at New York's Nokia Theater on Friday night (December 22), and he had a pre-Christmas surprise for fans.
The Queensbridge native was joined by both Foxy Brown and longtime friend/foe Cormega on stage for a spirited performance of "Affirmative Action," one of the standout songs on The Firm's 1997 album.
"It was powerful feeling, especially the reaction from the crowd," Cormega told Both Cormega and Foxy were met with thunderous applause, as they performed with Nas. The Firm was a one album super-group back by Dr. Dre, Steve Stoute and The Trackmasters, and consisted of Nas, AZ, Foxy Brown and Nature.

Cormega was originally going to be a member, but was later replaced with Nature.
Both Cormega and Nas were entrenched in a long-running lyrical beef, trading lyrical bars since Nas' 1994 hit "One Love," which featured Cormega.
Although, over the years, Cormega said he'd probably never work with Nas again, the two seem to have set aside their differences. "We had our differences, but me and Nas knew each other before hip-hop," said Cormega, according to Allhiphop.
"This wasn’t the first time I spoke with Nas, we'd been talking, but the world didn’t know it. We've taken lyrical shots at each other, but it’s a New Year, and it was just time for us to publicly squash the beef."
Some concertgoers believed the onstage reunion was only for show, but Cormega strongly denies though sentiments, "If it wasn’t sincere, I would not have been there."

Young Jeezy Causes Monie Love's Firing?

Monie Love is no longer working at Philadelphia’s 100.3 The Beat (WHPI-FM).
The former rapper’s departure comes a few weeks after an on-air confrontation with Young Jeezy, where the two argued over whether Hip-Hop is dead. The argument ended with Jeezy abruptly leaving the studio.
There is speculation that the incident is the reason behind Monie Love née Simone Wilson, leaving the show, however representatives at the station have not confirmed. Love has not confirmed either.
The British-born rapper was a member of the popular 80’s and 90’s collective known as the Native Tongues. Her first album, Down to Earth, contained two Grammy-nominated singles, “Monie in the Middle” and “It’s a Shame (My Sister).”
