Cam'ron Fires Back At 50 Cent, "He Looks Like A Gorilla With Rabbit Teeth"

Following 50 Cent's recently released a diss video "Funeral Music" aimed at Dipset Don Cam'ron, Cam has returned fire at the G-Unit boss in a song entitled "Cuurrttiissss."

As previously reported,
"Funeral Music" opens with a hearse rolling by with the words "Cam'ron's Career" on it and later mimics both Jim Jones' "We Fly High" as well as mocking the incident in which Cam's blue Lamborghini was shot up during Howard University's homecoming weekend on Washington,D.C.

In the song [
listen here] Cam takes several shots at 50 including his appearance, rhyming, "He looks like a gorilla, with rabbit teeth." Cam also shouts out who he feels is a "real" dude from Queens, Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff with lines like "he ran from police/you run with police/you ain't from South Side/ 'bout to get your mouth wide."

The song's chorus includes the Dipset leader echoing "Cuurtiiis" throughout and addresses fellow Dipset members'
Juelz Santana and Jim Jones' album sales, while also clarifying their respected roles in the crew, "Jimmy ain't the president, he's the CEO...Juelz the underboss...I sign off like Dr. Dre"

The Clipse vs Wayne part 2

The Clipse and Lil Wayne have been exchanging words — subliminally or not so subliminally — for some time now, and last week Pusha T added more fuel to the existing fire. It seems Push wasn't too happy with recent comments Wayne made about DJ Drama. Wayne told us Dram needed to "smarten up" after the DJ was knocked by the cops a couple of weeks ago in a mixtape sting. "When people say things like that, that just means they ain't thorough and they don't know nothing about the street side of things," Pusha responded. "When people tell you 'smarten up' when something bad happens to you, that just probably means they ain't no hustler and they been lying in their raps and stuff. 'Cause they liars." And if you didn't know who Push was talking about — since he didn't exactly call Weezy out by name — he added: "And they kissers."

...Pusha and Malice also had some other things to get off their chests. The Virginia Beach, Virginia, duo also said they're wrapping up the next installment of their Re-Up series, We Got It 4 Cheap: Vol. 3 - The Spirit of Competition. The rhymes are coming along, but the Clipse are still up in the air over which DJ to put out the project with after rocking with Clinton Sparks for the last two volumes. There's no hard feelings between Clipse and Sparks: The brothers Thornton just wanna try something new.

Supreme Trial Update: Supreme To Spend Life In Prison

It's official. Kenneth "Supreme" McGriff will not be sentenced to death. After days of testimony from the victim's families and character witnesses, the jury has decided that Supreme should spend life in prison.

Supreme McGriff, the man who founded the notorious early-80's drug crew, The Supreme Team, will be spending the rest of his life behind bars for conspiring to murder aspiring Queens rapper E-Money Bags and a former associate Troy Singleton. McGriff's life sentence came today on the heels of the death sentence that was given to cop killer Ronnell Wilson in separate federal death penalty case.

McGriff was at the center of the
Murder Inc. money laundering trial in 2005, alongside Irv and Chris "Gotti" Lorenzo, that played out last year in the headlines.

They were acquitted of those charges.

Weeks ago, U.S. District Judge Frederic Block influenced the prosecution to phone the attorney general in Washington, D.C. to have the death penalty charges removed from the case. Block determined that Supreme did not warrant a death sentence after hearing both the prosecution and the defense' summations.
"There's just no chance that 12 jurors will vote for the death penalty in this case, and I think it is good for us to save money, if we can do that and judicial resources," Judge Block said, according to the Associated Press.

Rawkus Searches For Unsigned Hype

Rawkus Records has announced a nation wide talent search to find the next 50 artists to represent the label.

The label is one of the firsts to readily accept unsolicited material from unsigned artists and will choose their top 50 based on their unique talents to be marketed collectively as the "Rawkus 50." Artists will be required to submit a minimum of ten mastered tracks for an album, which Rawkus will market and promote. Artists chosen will still remain totally independent and will be able to sign with any label of their choice.

"This is such a great opportunity for both artist and label," says Jarrett Myer, co-founder of Rawkus Records. "There are so many talented artists with substance and a do it yourself spirit that deserve a larger promotional outlet."

As part of the deal, those chosen for the "Rawkus 50" will be included in a national, full-page ad campaign which will run in select hip-hop magazines across the country. In addition, the artists will receive internet marketing and promotion from the label including blogs and podcasts as well as sponsored showcases in both New York and Los Angeles where the artists will perform.

"When have you ever heard of a respectable record label accepting unsolicited material from the general public? I could send my demo to Def Jam, but it's just gonna end up on someone's floor," stated Slop Funk Dust, content manager of the "Rawkus 50." "The Rawkus guys are loading up their iPod's and listening to submissions like mad men. This is the perfect opportunity for that one guy, that's been recording albums in his basement and posting his videos on youtube. It is also perfect for artists that are already established and have followings and are just interested and hungry. For those established artists this can be a way better outlet than mixtapes."

Artists are encouraged to upload their music and send their submissions via email to music@rawkus.com with "Rawkus 50" as the subject.

Brandy Hit With Wrongful Death Lawsuit From Victim's Children

The children of a woman, who was killed in a fatal car crash caused by R&B singer Brandy, have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the Mississippi bred crooner.

As previously reported, California Highway Patrol found that Brandy was responsible for the death of Awatef Aboudihaj when she rear-ended the mother of two on the San Diego freeway in Los Angeles on December 30, 2006.
The suit, which was filed in behalf of the minors by their attorneys in Los Angeles Superior Court today (February 9), claims Brandy was reckless in the operation of her vehicle on the date of the accident, and that her conduct caused the death of their mother.

The suit is seeking unspecified damages from the singer.

"Our clients are obviously devastated by this tragedy. Their lives are upside down, and as children they're really finding themselves having to deal with a loss they don't even fully comprehend yet,"said their attorney Paul N. Philips via a statement.

"One of our highest aspirations in this case is to assure that it's handled with respect for the children we're representing," explained attorney Karine Philips. "The family continues to request that their privacy be honored during this highly emotional and painful period in their lives."

Brandy is also facing another wrongful death lawsuit related to the accident which was filed by Aboudihaj's parents last month. The suit is seeking $50 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

Investigators have ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the crash and said there was no evidence that Brandy, who was in the car alone, was using a cell phone or was otherwise distracted.

EDDIE MURPHY’S ‘NORBIT’ OPENS AT NO. 1

Amidst scorn by several black activists for the portrayal of black women in “Norbit,” Oscar nominee Eddie Murphy has the last laugh with the film’s No. 1 opening at the box office this past weekend.

The comedy, which stars Murphy as three characters – including an overweight black woman that some black leaders find offensive – earned $33.7 million over the weekend to beat second place “Hannibal Rising’s” $13.35 million, according to studio estimates Sunday.

In “Norbit,” Murphy plays the mild-mannered title role, his grossly overweight and overbearing wife and a Chinese orphanage owner who raised him.

“Dreamgirls,” Murphy’s other Paramount-DreamWorks release, earned $3.1 million to land at No. 9 for the weekend, lifting its total to $97.1 million.

LEVERT’S DEATH BLAMED ON ACCIDENTAL DRUG MIX
A coroner in Geauga County, Ohio said the death of Gerald Levert last fall was due to an accidental combination of prescription narcotics and over-the-counter drugs.

The drugs found in his bloodstream included a fatal mix of the narcotic pain relievers Vicodin, Percocet and Darvocet, along with anxiety medication Xanax and two over-the-counter antihistamines, said Geauga County Coroner Kevin Chartrand. The official cause of death was acute intoxication.

According to family spokesperson Andy Gibson, Levert had been taking the pain medication because of chronic pain from a lingering shoulder problem and surgery in 2005 to repair a severed Achilles tendon. Gibson said Levert took Xanax for anxiety attacks.

The autopsy was conducted by the Cuyahoga County coroner's office and turned in to Chartrand on Thursday. The report revealed that Levert also had pneumonia at the time of his death.

Levert, son of O'Jays singer Eddie Levert, died Nov. 10 in his suburban Cleveland home at the age of 40.

Styles P Signs With Koch

Styles P will release his next album through Koch Records.

Just a week after Styles (whose real name is David Styles) exchanged words with 50 Cent during Fif's now infamous interview with Hot 97's Angie Martinez, plans are being made to roll out Styles' third LP 5 Star General this Summer via Koch Records.

As previously reported, Styles parted ways with Interscope Records earlier this year, within a month of the release of his second album Time Is Money. A follow up to Styles P's highly acclaimed 2002 release A Gangsta and a Gentleman, the sophomore album endured a number of delays before finally hitting shelves on December 19. Since it's release the album has sold less than 70,000 copies.
