Minister Farrakhan To Deliver Historic Speech In Detroit

Minister Louis Farrakhan is slated to deliver one of his most historic speeches on Sunday (February 25) in Detroit, addressing the importance of interfaith dialogue.

The speech, dubbed "One Nation Under God," will take place at Detroit's Ford Field with the pre-program beginning at 2:00 p.m. and Minister Farrakhan's main address at 3:15.

In a public service announcement, Minister Louis Farrakhan emphasized the oneness of God and stated, "And for those of you who prayed for my recovery, words are not adequate to express my deep, deep sense of personal gratitude. Each of you can go back to your mosques, your churches, your cathedrals, your synagogues, your temples, your cloisters. Where ever it is that you worship God, and say to your congregation, that our God, by whatever name you call him, answers prayers... How then could I come through this illness and this horrific operation, and, not thank god for a message that would be universal in its scope. And Universal in its power to heal the human condition."

The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network's Co-Chairmen Russell Simmons and Dr. Benjamin Chavis Muhammad are among the many supporters of the monumental event. "He has been the soul and the consciousness of hip-hop. He has had the greatest influence on me and is my spiritual teacher," said Simmons. "Every one in hip-hop should be there to honor this man because he has given us so much. He has inspired our music. You can not name one rapper who has not been touched by this man in some way."

A host of hip-hop icons are expected to attend including Diddy, Jermaine Dupri, Damon Dash, Steve Harvey, Erykah Badu, Al Sharpton, Chuck D, Jim Jones, RZA and Will.i.am, among others.

Dr. Ben Chavis is calling the address one of the "most important addresses of our times" and urges the hip-hop generation to attend.

"The Hip-Hop Summit Action Network is mobilizing and encouraging not only the hip-hop generation, but all people of good will to attend and witness one of the most important addresses of our times," declared Dr. Benjamin Chavis Muhammad. "I just returned from the Middle East and I am pleased to report that there are millions of youth throughout the Middle East who want peace and justice and who will also be positively impacted by the Minister's address."

Farrakhan's speech, which may be his last major public address, will be the crowning event of Black History Month, which is also celebrating the Nation of Islam's 77th Year Anniversary. Over 75,000 people are expected to attend.

"He has had a positive impact on my life and when there is a leader like the Minister in our midst, we must support him," stated Paul Wall, who cannot be in attendance due to a scheduled tour in Iraq.

Saigon to beat Prodigy like a Pinata.

Sai could probably do that with one arm tied behind his back. But why exactly does he want to whoop P's ass?

Word is Sai was simply responding to P saying he doesn't like Sai and other rappers and that they can "suck his dick." "I'm not gonna run into the booth and make a Prodigy diss and I would lyrically destroy Prodigy," Sai told hiphopgame regarding the neighborhood asshole. "But if we run into each other and he doesn't have ten security guards or a pistol around him, I'll beat him like a piƱata. Just for that 'suck my dick' shit."

True Stories 7 Jim Jones Interview

DREAMWORKS APOLOGIZES TO MOTOWN FOR ‘DREAMGIRLS’

Dreamworks studios has finally responded to criticism of its film “Dreamgirls” and its perceived negative portrayal of events based on the story of Berry Gordy’s Motown record label.

On Wednesday, the studio took out full page ads in Hollywood's two major trade papers -- Daily Variety and The Hollywood Reporter -- one day after voting on the Academy Awards ended.

“Dreamgirls is a work of fiction,” the statement read. “It is also an homage to Motown. We used many wonderful accomplishments that belong to the rich Motown history. For any confusion that has resulted from our fictional work, we apologize to Mr. Gordy and all of the incredible people who were a part of that great legacy. It is vital that the public understand that the real Motown story has yet to be told.”

The film, adapted from the hit Broadway musical of the same name, is loosely based on the story of Motown act Diana Ross and the Supremes. But the film has upset a number of recording artists, writers and others connected with the label who felt Motown was falsely depicted in a negative light, Motown spokesman Paul Freundlich told Reuters.

Motown veteran Smokey Robinson has been vocal about his objection to Jamie Foxx’s character Curtis Taylor, who is said to be patterned after Gordy. In the film, Taylor launches his fictional label with mafia money and engages in the illegal practice of "payola," in which music producers pay radio stations to play their records. Robinson has said Gordy engaged in neither of those activities.

"I applaud Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures for doing their part to clearly differentiate the fictional movie 'Dreamgirls' from the real Motown," Gordy, 77, said in a statement. "I wish them all the best in the forthcoming Academy Awards."

Bizzy Bone Launches Homeless Outreach Campaign, Preps New Album

Former Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony member Bizzy Bone is returning to the public eye, with plans to release a new solo album and launch a very personal campaign for the homeless.

After a long struggle with drug and alcohol abuse, Ohio rapper Bizzy Bone is clean and has announced plans to launch an outreach campaign. The project, called "Walk In My Shoes," will form alliances and partnerships with non-profit homeless organizations, beginning with his hometown of Columbus.

In 2004, while struggling with his addiction, Bizzy attempted to walk on foot from Columbus to Cleveland - living and sleeping on the streets as he made his journey.

"I've learned more about life from the homeless, who are the ultimate survivors than I have anywhere else. I admire them. I've learned a lot about respect because I've seen and lived their struggles first hand. When I realized I could be useful in communicating what I had learned, I thought maybe it would inspire other people to educate themselves on this issue and do some good," Bizzy said via statement.

Bizzy has previously sponsored dinners, as well as holiday toy and clothing giveaways, for the homeless in the Columbus area.

"Working on the Walk in My Shoes campaign is a great experience," Bizzy added.

"Encouragement, comfort and hope runs all through this project. There are so many people who have nothing, while others take so much for granted. I think we owe it to ourselves to look at life as a gift and try to enjoy every minute. People need to hear and see that life is worth living and that even when times are tough, we have a God of hope, who believes in us, and love us unconditionally. I can't wait to drop some knowledge of what I've learned on the fans who understand where I'm coming from."

In related news, Bizzy recently inked a deal with Virgin Records of America and After Platinum Records. His label debut, A Song For You is slated for release later this year. Imperial Records, the urban label and artist development unit of Caroline/EMI music will assist in marketing and promoting the new album.

Bizzy currently has no plans to reunite with Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony.
