Foxy Brown Rejects Plea Deal; May Face Jury In Florida Assault Case

TMZ.com has learned that Foxy Brown may face a Florida jury in September who will decide her fate on battery charges.

These charges stem from that dust-up at a Florida beauty supply shop, where Foxy Brown allegedly threw a tantrum -- and then hair glue at the shop's owner.

A Broward County Court official tells TMZ that Brown decided not to plea out on the rap at a hearing this morning in Judge Joel Lazarus' courtroom. Because of this, Foxy is expected back in court on September 24 to face trial. Foxy could get up to a year in jail on the misdemeanor battery charges.

Judge Lazarus had previously issued an arrest warrant for Brown in March, when she didn't show up in his courtroom for a hearing

J. Prince Back In Court Monday On Assault Charges

On Monday, May 21, boxing manager James Andrea Prince, owner of Houston's J. Prince Boxing company and Rap-A-Lot Records will appear in a Houston courtroom to answer to a Misdemeanor Charge of Assault brought against him by Complainant Ronald Eugene Bookman.

Bookman, owner of Houston's multi-million dollar Studio 7303, one of the country's premiere music recording studios, alleges that he was beaten at the instruction of Prince by seven other men at Prince's Prince Recreation Center's gym in Houston after being lured to the gym by Prince for a supposed business meeting. Bookman suffered severe head injuries, a broken nose, fractured ribs and had both eyes blackened, one of which requires surgery. The business meeting was ostensibly to be about Bookman receiving clearances from Prince for a Rap-A-Lot artist to perform on a single from the new CD of Bookman's first artist on his fledgling label, 7303 Records. This latest charge against Prince follows an earlier attempt by Bookman to charge him with a Misdemeanor Charge of Assault which was filed by Houston Police Department Investigating Detective David Hernandez on Friday, May 4 , which was dismissed by Judge M. Harris on the same day. The new charge was filed Monday, May 7, and an arrest Warrant was issued for Prince's arrest on Wednesday, May 9. Prince has since made bond and is due in court on May 21, 2007.

"I think maybe we're finally getting some of the politics out of the way with this case and we're moving forward now. We're going to get down to the nitty gritty of what happened, who was involved and what is going to happen next," Bookman said.

"And by my standing up, I expect anybody else here in Houston or elsewhere that they have done this to or jumped on, need to find their voice and their feet. They need to stand up and be heard. This is ridiculous. It don't make no sense. We're free and we should be able to function as businessman and not heathens. This kind of conduct seems to be a pattern of Rap-A-Lot and apparently is condoned by the head of Rap-A-Lot. This is an evil pattern of intimidation, coercion, and interference in business matters. He is not the gatekeeper to legitimate business in the city of Houston."

The campaign featuring the singer is slated to launch later this year.

ROBIN THICKE TELLS ALL TO GIANT

R&B singer Robin Thicke – the son of actors Alan Thicke and Gloria Loring and fixture atop Billboard’s R&B charts with his single, “Lost Without U” – is the featured cover story in the June/July issue of Giant magazine, due on newsstands June 5.

Inside, the artist speaks freely about his once waning self-esteem, issues in his marriage to actress Paula Patton, and his fourteen year ride to overnight stardom.

Here are a few excerpts from Thicke’s interview with Giant contributor Celia San Miguel:

• ON HIS PERSONAL DEMONS: “I understand struggle because I’ve struggled with my own demons, my own ability to love myself. I might have grown up in an aesthetically larger building, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t felt pain. That’s what the whole (expletive) album is about. It’s about a dude who needed to believe in himself when the world said, ‘We don’t love you.’”

• ON STRAINS IN HIS MARRIAGE TO PAULA PATTON: “She was having sex scenes with the guy who won Album of the Year (Andre 3000), and I pretty much had no record deal. She didn’t come home during the three months of filming (Idlewild) because she was so focused. I started believing she didn’t need me anymore, and when she came home, I started projecting that onto her and pushing her away. That’s what ‘Complicated’ (a song from his album) is about – me saying, ‘I wish I could stop thinking I’m not good enough because, otherwise, I won’t be able to get this girl back.”

• ON BEING JEALOUS OF JESUS: “I was seven years old hearing about how wonderful Jesus is, and I was like, ‘I’m special. I’m able to be righteous. How come Jesus gets to be the Son of God and not me? Why don’t I get to be as loved by God as Jesus was? I believe we should all get to be the sons of God.”

• ON THE VIRGINIA TECH MASSACRE: “I started writing this song last night about the guy who did the shooting. I figured if anybody needed love, it was him. He was reaching out, but nobody listened. And, you know, everyone said he was quiet. I started writing about feeling like you’re a shadow. And even though I’m not him, I know what that feels like. There is so much hurt and struggle, so many people who need hope.”

Ice-T, Coco Set To Play Host For 2007 Players Toast Awards Show

Rapper/actor Ice-T and his wife Coco are scheduled to play host for this year's upcoming Players Toast Awards Show, taking place at the Playboy Mansion.

The event is held to raise money for the Hollywood & Vine Recovery Centers and this will be Ice-T's fourth year acting as host for the event, which he is very excited about this year, with their choice of location.

"I look forward to this event every year and this year we are really looking forward to being at the mansion," said Ice-T. "We are expecting a great crowd and to raise awareness and hopefully respectable funds for 'Hollywood and Vine.' It's all about giving back."

The Players Toast Awards were developed through the eyes of Michael Carter, who introduced this vision to three other individuals -- Rick Appling, Ice-T and Darnell Gilbert. From the introduction, a great partnership was born and The Players Toast Awards became a reality.

"We all grew up together and have been through good times and bad," said founder Michael Carter. "The mission of the organization is to recognize high profile individuals, who have accomplished great tasks during their careers, never forgetting their roots, who reach out to help others along the way, making sure awareness is brought to the cause and the person behind the efforts is what we stand for."

Each year the Players Toast Awards partners with a non-profit foundation, in hope of raising greater awareness and funding for those in need. It continues to build long-standing relationships with corporate partners, the entertainment industry, professional sports industry and local community.

A new website for the event is currently under development at PlayersToastAwards.com.

Pastor Troy Forced To Change Album Title

Atlanta MC, Pastor Troy, is changing the name of his upcoming album from Saddam Hussein to Tool Muziq. Three of the major retail chains refused to carry the album with the original title, forcing Troy to pick a different name.

“The Saddam title was just a metaphor for how I was comin’ back for my shit, hostile takeover style,” says Troy. “I’m gonna bring genocide to the rap game. It wasn’t political or anything like that. I’ve got love for the troops, they’ve always supported me and I support them. So now I’m just gonnna give ‘em Tool Muziq ‘cause that’s what this album is — hardcore gangsta shit.”

Tool Muziq will be released on July 3 on SMC Records and will feature production by Shawty Red, Drumma Boy, DJ Squeeky and guest appearances by Gangsta Boo, Fabo of D4L and The Hit Man Sammy Sam.

“Troy has always been the epitome of an independent underground artist,” says Will Bronson, COO of SMC Records. “But when he signed to a major they took the ‘fuck you’ right out of him. Troy’s got that passion back and for [a] lack of a better phrase — we ready!”

Timbaland To Premier New Video This Monday Night On WWE Raw

Timbaland will premier his new video for the song "Throw It On Me" this Monday night (May 21) on WWE Raw. Timbaland enlisted the help of various World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) divas to replace the traditional video vixens. Divas taking part in the video include: Ashley Massaro, Torrie Wilson, Layla El, Brooke and Kelly Kelly.

"The reason I asked the Divas to be in my video was because I didn't want the typical casting for this," Timbaland said in a press release. "I wanted women who mean something. The Divas have a fan base of their own. They're all stars. Each in their own way, they all mean something."

WWE's next pay per view event is Judgment Day and takes place Sunday May 20.

Timbaland's new album "Shock Value" is currently in stores.

Styles P Weighs In On New De Niro/Pacino Film

Oscar award-winning actors Robert De Niro and Al Pacino are set to star together in the upcoming film Righteous Kill, an indie suspense film written by the same man behind Spike Lee's Inside Man, Russell Gewirtz.

Variety recently announced that De Niro and Pacino have signed on to star together in the police thriller Righteous Kill, allowing the two actors to team up again for the first time since Heat. Fans can expect to see more of Pacino and De Niro together this time around; unlike Heat, where the actors only shared two scenes, Righteous Kill will put them onscreen together for much of the film. The news is already being celebrated within the hip-hop community, where the two stars are particularly well regarded.

"That's fantastic. Heat was a great film and having them on screen together will be even better. De Niro and Pacino are both interesting people and extremely credible entertainers; two of the best actors in the game," Styles P told reporters after hearing the news.

The D-Block rapper's own enthusiasm for Pacino and De Niro is well documented. In fact, Styles P sometimes uses the moniker "Paniro," a combination of the two actors names.

"The types of characters they play appeal consistently to the young, impoverished people in the ghetto; characters who came from nothing and became something. The genres of film they make and the roles they choose prove continuously that they understand the mentality of the poor. De Niro's role in Taxi Driver and Pacino's role in The Panic in Needle Park were both phenomenal and are perfect examples of this," Styles P explained, when questioned about rappers devotion to the two actors.

The $60 million independent production follows De Niro and Pacino as cops chasing a serial killer. The film is being produced by Nu Image's Millennium Films and Emmett/Furla Films. Jon Avnet has signed on to produce and direct the project.

Righteous Kill is scheduled to begin shooting August 6 in Connecticut. Parts of the film will also be shot in Manhattan.

David Banner Up For Role As Villian In New Batman Movie "The Dark Knight"

MTV News has learned that rapper/actor David Banner auditioned this week for a role in “The Dark Knight,” the super-secretive sequel to 2005’s “Batman Begins.” According to the beefy “Black Snake Moan” supporting actor, he would play a villain named “Gamble,” another criminal to help fill out the rogue ranks alongside Heath Ledger’s Joker.

Banner, a long-time comic book fan who named himself after the main character in the TV version of “The Incredible Hulk,” could barely contain his excitement when we caught up with him in South Central Los Angeles on Wednesday. The star was in town to film a cameo for the music video to “International Players Anthem,” a track by UGK featuring OutKast.

After several years of making his Hollywood aspirations known, the role of Gamble could mark a big step in Banner’s career in front of the camera.
