Foxy Brown Headed To Jail
Trouble-prone rapper, Foxy Brown was ordered to be taken into custody until her next court appearance on September 7th.
According to reports, Brown had been on probation on assault charges, but two incidents in recent weeks violated her probation.
On August 14, Foxy was arrested on charges of assault, menacing and possession of a weapon after her neighbor claims the rapper assaulted her with her Blackberry cell-phone.
The very next day, the Brooklyn native was pulled over in Mahwah, NJ for talking on her cell-phone while driving and disregarding a stop sign. When questioned by the police, she initially gave them an incorrect spelling of her name.
Foxy was later issued seven separate summonses and released.
She will be housed at the Rose M. Singer Center, a women’s jail on Rikers Island.
The jail time came as a surprise for the rapper who is rumored to be pregnant and getting ready to wed.

Kanye West Names His Biggest Competition In The Game, Thanks 50 For The Hype

Keeping his name in the news, rapper & producer Kanye West has named his biggest competition in game—Justin Timberlake.
According to Kanye, the pop star which has yet to do a collabo with the Chicago MC is his biggest inspiration as well as his biggest competition.
“My biggest inspiration and biggest competition is Justin Timberlake. He’s the only other person that gets an across-the-board response and respect level – black radio, white radio.” Kanye says in the October issue of XXL Magazine.
“If Justin hadn’t come out and killed the game, I can’t say that my album, singles and videos would be on the same level that they’re on.
“We push each other. I look at me and Justin like Prince and Michael Jackson in their day.”
Kanye, who will be going up against 50 Cent on September 11th also told MTV how he felt about the so-called “rivalry.”
“I think we push each other,” Kanye told MTV backstage at the V Festival in Stafford, England, on Saturday. “I feel I wouldn’t have some of the tracks on my album if it wasn’t for 50, and he wouldn’t have some of the things he had if he wasn’t up against me.
In the last couple of years, people have been putting out albums aimlessly. Nas used to talk about Biggie and Jay and Wu-Tang going up against each other, but now it’s like there hasn’t been that competition in rap.
In New York, [West’s] ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothing’ is the #2 song [on the radio], and [50’s] ‘I Get Money’ is the #1 song. They’re neck-and-neck, so it’s exciting to people.”
Both “Graduation” and “Curtis” will be dropping on September 11th, 2007.

The film was written and directed by RJ Bond and Executive Produced by Bond and Frank "Big Frank" Alexander, Tupac's former bodyguard.
Tupac: Assassination unfolds as a compelling whodunit that reveals what actually happened the night Tupac was shot and most importantly, why this happened as well as the events leading up to that fateful night and the ensuing investigation.

Tupac: Assassination unfolds as a compelling whodunit that reveals what actually happened the night Tupac was shot and most importantly, why this happened as well as the events leading up to that fateful night and the ensuing investigation.
Two perspectives are explored in the film. First, how the shooting happened, what may have led to it and the disconnect between those facts and what the public has been told, and secondly, the testimony of Tupac bodyguards, whose provocative comments provide the answer to why Tupac was shot and killed. These men were never questioned by the police. This film allows them to finally go on the record with what they know. This eye-opening documentary points out all of the failures of law enforcement officials to fully investigate, follow up on leads and interview key parties involved. By the time this DVD ends, the smoke and confusion caused by unsubstantiated rumors, myopic myths and urban legends will dissipate and a clear picture will appear. Alexander and Bond have done something that the Hip Hop community has long awaited.
They have provided the facts that may finally bring justice for Tupac and his mother Afeni Shakur - 11 years later. Is there enough evidence in this DVD to spark a Grand Jury inquiry? You will be the judge after you see this powerful film.
“Tupac: Revelation was the working title of this film and although the trailer received over 100,000 views on You Tube in just three weeks, Tupac: Assassination is a better fit because it definitely drives attention to the point of our movie. This is not a movie about Tupac's art, this is not a movie about Tupac's life, this is a movie about Tupac's death and what happened to cause it,” says the film's director RJ Bond.
"Unlike the last film that I did, Tupac Shakur: Before I Wake, which was more of a personal saga about the relationship between Pac and I, this is a film concerning things that happened the night Pac was shot and even months and weeks earlier that the police didn't bother to question some of Pac's bodyguards about. So this film is more of a news piece rather than a personal story coming from me," says former Tupac bodyguard Big Frank.
Tupacassassination.com is the official website of the film. The DVD will be in stores on Tuesday, October 23, 2007. A special limited edition, pre-order Tupac: Assassination DVD signed by Big Frank with a bonus gift of a Tupac poster can be ordered from the website until September 25, 2007.

R. KELLY BACK IN COURT

R. Kelly appeared Tuesday (Aug 21) in a Chicago court where prosecutors and defense attorneys ironed out more details in the R&B singer's child-pornography trial before jury selection starts September 17.
After the prosecution tried for a reversal, Judge Vincent Gaughan upheld his ruling that the media and public could view the sex tape that allegedly depicts Kelly having sex with an underage girl and is at the heart of the charges. Gaughan said he wouldn't reconsider his original ruling because the girl who prosecutors say is in the video isn't cooperating with investigators and denies that she's the person on the tape. Had she said she was, the judge would give her victim status and protect her from a public viewing. Instead, he ruled Tuesday that the state can't call her a "victim" but must instead call her an "alleged victim" or the "state's witness." To attempt to prove that she is in fact the girl on the tape, the prosecution wants to call an expert witness to testify that denial is a common issue with victims of child pornography, but the defense argued that the theory is not backed up by science.
Judge Gaughan delayed ruling on this, as well as whether an expert could testify that the veins in Kelly's hand are consistent with those in the hand of the man in the video. He is expected to rule on those matters at the next hearing, on September 10.
Baltimore Honors Music Exec Kevin Liles With Street Named After Him

Veteran music executive and bestselling author, Kevin Liles, will be honored by Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon on September 1st with a street-renaming ceremony to honor his achievements and years of philanthropic efforts to his community.
During a ceremony and blockparty from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m., the 2900 Block of Presstman Street that Liles grew up on in Baltimore, MD, will be re-named "Kevin Liles Drive."
Additionally, Liles will receive A Presidential Acknowledgement and challenge other successful individuals to revitalize their blocks through his "Adopt Your Block" Initiative.
"As a proud native of Baltimore, I am humbled to receive such a huge honor," said Kevin Liles. "I would like to thank Governor Mark O'Malley and Mayor Shelia Dixon for believing in young America because we do want to make a difference. I would like to thank the City of Baltimore for allowing me to be its symbol of hope, and show the young men and women of this city that despite your environment you can be successful by establishing a commitment to excellence within yourself."
From an unpaid internship in 1991, Liles soared though the ranks to become President of Def Jam Music Group in 1998 at the tender age of 30. As president, he was largely credited with building up revenues from less than $100 million to more than $400 million in just four years, turning what was a small but wildly successful record business into a mature corporation that become the crown jewel of Universal's music group.
He also oversaw the creation of brands such Def Jam South, Def Soul, Def Soul Classics, Roc-A-Fella and Murder Inc. Under his stewardship, Def Jam grew into one of the most influential record labels in the world just as the rest of the music industry was facing a protracted slump.
Today, he is the Executive Vice President of Warner Music Group and CEO for the Make it Happen Foundation and Kevin Liles for a Better Baltimore.
"Kevin's dedication to building a better Baltimore has been proven through his constant contributions and charity work. Kevin has been instrumental in shaping the lives of so many young people with his commitment to education and improving the quality of life for our residents. This ceremony will help congratulate all his accomplishments and show our appreciation," said Baltimore Mayor Sheila Dixon.

A Los Angeles traffic cop who asked for naked pictures of bikini model Vida Guerra in exchange for reducing her parking ticket has been suspended, reports TMZ.com.
Last weekend, TMZ cameras caught Officer L. Salgado telling Vida’s male friend: “You got a got a naked picture of her, we make the price stay right." After Vida’s friend responds in disbelief, Salgado says, “Take some pictures back to the station… naked pictures, man. The price will cut. May be worth it.”
According to Parking Enforcement Manager Eric Ruiz, Salgado was suspended from duty, and word has it that he may even be fired.
Guerra, mentioned by rapper The Game in his song “Wouldn’t Get Far,” said in a statement to TMZ: “I think it was inappropriate for the officer to make that statement that he would remove the ticket if I gave them naked photos. It was very sleazy.”
