R&B Singer Rell Arrested; Police Confiscate 50 Pounds Of Marijuana

Former Roc-A-Fella Records crooner Rell was one of three men arrested in a drug sting in Calhoun County, South Carolina yesterday (Mar. 29).

Rell, born Wilbur Gerrell Gaddis, was arrested after Postal Service agents intercepted a package containing 50 pounds of marijuana in Columbia, SC.

Agents allowed the package to be delivered to a home in Saint Matthews, SC, where police arrested Rell and two associates.

Rell, 30, originally hails from Bowman, SC, but listed a New Jersey residence at the time of his arrest.

All three men were charged with conspiracy to traffic marijuana.

Rell was the first male R&B singer signed to Roc-A-Fella Records.

He first appeared in Jay-Z's movie Streets Is Watching and contributed the single "Love For Free" to the movie's soundtrack.

He also appeared on "The Message" featuring Mary J. Blige, from Dr. Dre's album 2001.

While signed to Roc-A-Fella, Rell also recorded with artists like Kanye West, Consequence, Young Gunz, Beanie Sigel and others.

The Game Misses Court Date, Judge Issues Warrant

Compton, CA rapper The Game missed a scheduled court date in Manhattan yesterday (Mar. 30), related to charges that he impersonated a police officer in Nov.

According to the New York Post, a warrant was issued for the rapper's arrest, but the warrant will not be activated unless he misses his next court date, which is scheduled for Jun. 13.

The Game was arrested on Nov. 16, after he allegedly ordered a cab driver to run several red lights.

When the cab was stopped by police, the driver told police that the Game, born Jayceon Taylor, said he was an undercover police officer and allegedly urged the cab driver to run the red lights.
Police promptly arrested The Game and charged him with impersonating a police officer.

"This is a ploy by the Hip-Hop police to humiliate me, because they harass and follow me every time I come to New York," The Game told shortly after his arrest. "I was in New York promoting my album. I never impersonated anyone especially and absolutely never a police officer."

An arrest warrant was issued for the rapper on Jan. 16, after he failed to appear for his first court date related to the charges.

On Jan. 30, The Game appeared in court and pleaded not guilty to the charges. His lawyer, Jeffrey Lichtman, welcomed a trial.

"The police are harassing him," Lichtman said after the rapper pleaded innocent. "It's an embarrassment for them. The cops follow him from the moment he lands to the moment he leaves. A limo driver freaked out, that's it. They are harassing him, but there will be some harassment going the other way at the trial."

Mannie Fresh Squashes Beef With Lil Wayne, Signs New Deal With Jay-Z

Mannie Fresh recently called a New Orleans radio station, Q93, to discuss his new projects for 2007.

In the interview, Fresh revealed he’s signed a new deal with Jay-Z and Def Jam Records. “I just did a deal with Jay-Z,” he said. “Dude reached out to me. He flew me up, we talked about it and they wrote something nice. It was a nice little proposal.” Fresh continued to say, “What made me take the deal is, they didn’t want me to only do this exclusive deal with them.

They were like, “You can go do whatever it is you do.” So my thing [at Def Jam] is to overlook the southern artists they have, as well as sign [new] artists.”

Fresh also disclosed a conversation he had with Lil Wayne a month ago. “We had some words. I asked him if he had a problem with me, because in all honesty, I never had a problem with him,” Fresh said. “So I stepped to him like a man, like, ‘Dude, the problem is not with you, so don’t take sides that don’t got nothing to do with you. I got a problem with another man, it has nothing to do with you.’” Fresh went on to say, “[But] he [Lil Wayne] said, at the time, he was trippin’ and he took sides. But he reached out for his new album, so hopefully we gonna put something together and do business.”

In addition, Mannie says he’s going to produce on T.I.’s next album and is planning to get in the studio with Nas in the next two weeks. He’s also producing most of Juvenile’s next album. “I did the whole Juve album,” he said. “I executive produced the whole album and I did about 13 tracks on it. It’s that Juve y’all wanted.”

Fabolous Album Pushed Back

Fans will have to wait until summer for the fourth album from Fabolous, the Brooklyn rapper's April release has been abandoned for a later date.

DPG Feuds Showcased in New Documentary

Dogg Pound members Daz Dillinger and Kurupt will offer an inside look behind their feuds and disputes over the years in a new documentary, titled DPG Eulogy.

The two-hour film, directed by Damian Zellous, will chronicle the group's conflicts between 2001 and 2005, including the public beef between Dillinger and Kurupt during Kurupt's return to Death Row in 2001.

"It was just a strange time," said Zellous. "We have a lot of exclusive footage that shows what was really going on. I think it'll surprise people."

In addition to Dillinger and Kurupt, the DPG documentary will feature revealing interviews from Snoop Dogg, Soopafly, RBX, Lil' Half Dead and The Eastsidaz and others on the history of the Long Beach-based collective.

The film will also examine the feud between Eastsidaz member Tray-Dee and Snoop Dogg over money and leadership.

"Everybody's cool now, but a lot of people still want to know what happened," stated Zellous.

Although the film was completed in 2005, Zellous admits the delay was due to "a lot of red tape from Death Row Records and other people who didn't want the film to surface."

Prior to its release DPG Eulogy aired on the Starz channel for several months.

Killer Mike On Alleged Big Boi Scuffle: "I Never Touched Him & He Never Touched Me"

Killer Mike recently chopped it up with SOHH to clear the air on the rampant rumors concerning an incident between him and his former boss Big Boi of Outkast.

"First of all, let me start by saying it's nothing. I done saw a good friend lose a good friend, Tip lost Philant [Johnson] and had another friend shot in the face so I don't want anybody to think that this is a beef," said a humble Killer Mike. "I also want to apologize to everybody in the A-Town, Morris Brown, my mother, grandmother, Big Boi's mother, Dre's mother and anybody who may have witnessed what wasn't me and Big Boi fighting, but what was two grown men not seeing eye to eye. I never touched him and he never touched me. Some of the things they said I did to Big Boi, if I had did, I don't know if I could have lived with that."

Mike alleges that a group of men confronted him in Atlanta in an attempt to intimidate him, after which words were exchanged. Refuting several accounts that alleged that the two came to blows after Purple Ribbon artist C-Bone called Mike a "monkey," the Atlanta MC revealed that the comment was not the reason for the rift and that there is a deeper explanation concerning the matter.

"I'm from the same city as Martin Luther King, brother, Atlanta. No way I'm gonna back down from nobody. I deal with bosses. I don't talk to secretaries, sidekicks, suckers or civil servants."

"My ego was upset by [C-Bone's comment] but that's not the reason I was upset. I can forgive him for that." He continues, "I think it's just two people, who were friends and care about each other who stopped doing business together and that's not always pretty. But I think that time heals all things. It's better that I don't have to deal with him and he doesn't have to deal with me. I think it's just that we're better being apart from one another, being friendly competitors and making sure that Atlanta stays on top. He's best where he is and I'm best where I'm at."

Killer Mike left Big Boi's Purple Ribbon label, possibly creating animosity among other artists still on the label, but the move was one that Mike feels was necessary.

"For me, [I left] when I woke up disgusted with myself like, 'How long are you going to wait around for another man to give you what's already there for you to take.'"

Hoping that the rumors are behind him, he says that he is focused on his own Grind Time Official imprint, which released his latest album I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind.
"I don't care if you're working the trap or you're trapped at work, you're going to relate to this album."

I Pledge Allegiance To The Grind is in stores now and available on

R&B singer RIHANNA has grown bored of rumours linking her to her record label boss SHAWN 'JAY-Z' CARTER, insisting she ignores the reports.

Rihanna's close friendship with Carter - head of Def Jam Records - sparked speculation the couple were having an affair behind long-term love BEYONCE KNOWLES' back.

However, the pair have always insisted their relationship is strictly platonic. She says, "At first I was like, 'Ha ha, it's funny.' Now I just ignore it and I'm numb to it. You cannot stop people from saying what they want to say."

Bonus- Here is the song that premiered on her website yesterday.

In a candid interview in Sunday’s issue of Parade magazine, actress Halle Berry says she tried to commit suicide over her troubled marriage to baseball star David Justice, but decided against it at the last minute after thinking about her mom.

"I was sitting in my car, and I knew the gas was coming, when I had an image of my mother finding me," Berry, 40, tells the paper. "She sacrificed so much for her children, and to end my life would be an incredibly selfish thing to do. It was all about a relationship. My sense of worth was so low. I promised myself I would never be a coward again."

Berry, 40, described her marriage years later to singer Eric Benet as "really horrific."
"We were in sex rehab after one year. I wish I had left then, but I was putting everyone's needs before mine," she says.

Berry says she’s in a good place with current boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, and is anxious to have a child in the near future.

"Now my sights are set on a different chapter in my life, which is motherhood. That's the goal I have very clearly set for myself," she says.

More Details on "B.u.d.d.y" Contest. Miss Jones explains the Lupe bashing

Since the beginning of the week when Miss Jones went on a small rant about her problem with what she labeled as "The Lupe Fiasco fiasco", referring to Lupe's version of the "Buddy (remix)", she has offered a solution to her problem by offering to give upcoming rappers a break. In order to do this, she has asked for aspiring rappers to put their own 8 bars on the intro of the record and to mail it to Hot97 on a cd, where it'll be played on air. No word yet if the contest rules will change, but so far, the hosts said that the top 3 favorites in the contest will receive airplay over the Lupe Fiasco version.

The r&b loving host and former singer herself was not pleased that Lupe Fiasco was rapping about the complete opposite of Musiq Soulchild's concept and bringing down the value of what is suppose to be a fun record when she believes the Ja Rule and Fat Joe remix of the record set the bar and or the tone for how a rap should be on that particular record, only for Lupe Fiasco to later bring it down with his version.

The shock jock, who has been known to complain about her own station's playlist singled out the record because according to her, it's one of her more currently favored records on the station's playlist, which is why she's upset about the remix. The radiohost claims the song is about a bootycall and wreckless infadelity, while she and her team believes Lupe is rapping off topic and brought down the quality of what is suppose to be a fun record. She stated, "It's a feel good record."

Although Lupe received bashing and overall heavy criticism early in the week for his lyrics, the Lupe jokes diminished throughout the week as Miss Jones has made herself more clearer day in and day out on her position. Nonetheless, some of the highlights of the jokes from the show's comedian included, "Lupe is the type to go to a stripclub with a coat to cover up all the strippers." Jonesy cleaned up her statements, stating, "I don't care as long as Lupe goes away...I mean we don't have anything at all against Lupe, he's okay."

Although, the hosts asked for aspiring rappers, a few veterans themselves have even entered into the contest. Scoob, who use to dance on stage with Big Daddy Kane entered in his 8 bars on Wednesday. And on March 29th, Heavy D also entered in with his 8 bars starting off with the, "It's the diddley, diddly, diddley...."

I advice all aspiring mc's to take advantage of the opportunity and take part in the competition, as it could be great exposure and or a big break. This may be a once in a lifetime opportunity! If favored enough, the remix could possibly become a playlists regular on the station and then find it's way across the country.

Mc's who are interested, should mail in their 8 bars on the "Buddy" beat on the song's intro to:395 Hudson St. 7th Fl.New York, NY 10014

Al Sharpton & Russell Simmons Demand Action After Alleged Tony Yayo Attack

On Monday (April 2) Russell Simmons' HSAN and Reverend Al Sharpton are scheduled to join Czar Entertainment at a public grievance and rally concerning Tony Yayo's alleged assault on Jimmy "Henchman" Rosemond's 14 year-old son.

Cynthia Reed, the mother of James Rosemond, will also be in attendance in addition to community leaders, parents, students and religious leaders. The demonstrations will be begin with a press conference.

"We are involved to try to help mediate this problem," HSAN President/CEO Dr. Benjamin Chavis said in a statement. "In truth, every child in our community is precious. The theme of the Hip-Hop Summit is taking back responsibility. With artistic freedom comes responsibility. Therefore anytime a child in our community is harmed it is of great concern to us. We are hoping and praying that this matter can be resolved peacefully and resolutely. At the end of the day the interest of our children will be better served."

As previously reported, Yayo (born Marvin Bernard) allegedly accosted the youth for sporting a Czar Entertainment t-shirt as he was heading to his father's offices to intern. Initial reports claimed that 50 Cent was present at the time of the incident. Meanwhile, Fif's lawyers asserted that the superstar wasn't in New York state at the time of the incident. Yayo was arrested and charged for harassment as well as endangering the welfare of a child. He was later released on $5,000 bail.

The press conference is slated to take place on April 2 in Manhattan, NY. At press time the location has not yet been determined.

Foxy Brown Pleads Not Guilty

After having an arrest warrant issued after her for missing a March 22nd court date, Foxy Brown finally showed up in court to make her plea of not guilty. The charges for which Foxy had to appear in court were for simple battery and resisting arrest.

As previously reported, Foxy was arrested in Pembroke Pines, FL after allegedly threatening an employee of a beauty supply store, as well as making a mess in the store and resisting arrest.

Reports by the Associated Press say that Judge Joel Lazarus withdrew the arrest warrant. Foxy’s attorney explained that the arraignment notice that was sent out to Foxy so that she could appear in court on March 22nd was mailed to an old address, so Foxy did not receive it in time.

After appearing in court, Foxy spoke to the media outside of the courtroom: "I am going to stand up and fight and take care of this," said the rapper, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Judge Lazarus has set a June trial date.

Among the lineup of VH1’s Rock Docs specials over the next few months is “Last Days of Left Eye,” a documentary about the late TLC rapper-singer and the final days spent at her spiritual hideaway in Honduras.

Directed by Lauren Lazin ("Tupac: Resurrection"), the film uses archival material and talking-head interviews to provide background and transitions for footage shot by Left Eye during a month-long spiritual retreat in the Central American country. She was killed there in a car crash on April 25, 2002.

Left Eye, born Lisa Lopes, speaks at length in the film about her belief in astrology and numerology, and promises to "set the record straight" about her checkered past before redirecting her energies in a positive direction, according to a review in Daily Variety.

"Last Days of Left Eye" is scheduled to open the Atlanta Film Festival, an event in her hometown that will include Lopes’ family and friends making rare public appearances. A date has not yet been announced for the film’s premiere on VH1.

"I'm excited to bring Hip-Hop Since 1978 onto the team," said Lil Wayne's manager Cortez Bryant. "I'm positive their combined experience, expertise, and well-cultivated relationships will help us take Wayne's career to the next level."

Fans can expect The Carter 3, later this year.

Snoop Dogg May Reconcile $2 Mill Suit With Old Label Over Breach Of Contract

Attorneys representing Snoop Dogg and Priority Records are reportedly considering a mediation to settle a breach of contract lawsuit that the California bred rapper brought against his former record label.

As previously reported, Snoop (born Calvin Broadus) sued Priority Records last year for $2 million in royalties. The rapper alleged that since EMI took over Priority, the label has failed to honor contracts. Priority Records has maintained the lawsuit should be barred because Snoop waited too long to file it.

According to the Associated Press, Kenneth D. Freundlich, Snoop's lawyer, said in court Monday (March 26) that a mediation was a good alternative to a trial, but that he must first get the rapper's approval.

Snoop still remains overseas despite the recent cancellation of his European tour with Sean "Diddy"Combs. The rapper's European trek was called off after British authorities refused to grant him a visa into their country, where he was scheduled to perform in various cities.

Freundlich also indicated that Snoop is willing to give a deposition to the company's attorneys.
"We're totally willing to make him available," Freundlich told the court during the brief hearing.
Superior Court Judge Robert Hess ordered both sides to return to court Aug. 27 for an update. If mediation fails, a trial could be scheduled.

Youngbloodz Launch Lawsuit Against SonyBMG

Youngbloodz have sued Sony BMG Music Entertainment for $50 million in Manhattan Federal Court claiming the label breached agreement to pay royalties, specifically for downloaded tunes.

The group's Still Grippin' Tha Grain album was their only release on Sony, and was a "Best of" compilation that was released on Nov. 21, 2006. The Youngbloodz were originally signed to LaFace Records.

The members of Youngbloodz, Sean Paul and J-Bo, are currently pursuing solo ventures.

A publicist for Marion “Suge” Knight claims that the former Death Row Records CEO was not evicted from his posh West L.A. condo on Friday. Rather, he was simply moving to another home.

“I don't understand how his move could have been misunderstood as an eviction,” Jonathan Wolfson told “He is currently living at an undisclosed location in Malibu."

Wolfson’s statement, however, does not address witness accounts of policemen and detectives present at the time of the alleged move.

According to columnist Janet Charlton, “two black and white police cars plus a car with detectives” stood by as Suge’s possessions were removed and loaded into a truck in front of the building.

Rihanna Releases New Single, "Umbrella" Feat. Jay-Z, Today At 5:00 pm EST

The countdown is on to the worldwide launch of the new single from multi-platinum international, award-winning Def Jam recording artist Rihanna, as "Umbrella" (featuring Jay-Z) makes its debut today, Thursday, March 29th, at 5:00 p.m. (EST) and can be heard on "Umbrella, " produced by C. Tricky Stewart, is the first single from Rihanna's eagerly awaited third album (in two years), untitled as yet, set for June 5th release.

Rihanna enjoyed a tidal wave of industry acclaim in 2006 with her second album A Girl Like Me, and its back-to-back #1 hits, "S.O.S." and "Unfaithful." At the 2006 Billboard Music Awards on December 4th, she took away four top honors, including Female Artist of the Year, Female Hot 100 Artist of the Year, Female Pop 100 Artist of the Year, and Hot Dance Airplay Song of the Year for "S.O.S." She finished out the year as guest performer on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve spectacular.

In June 2007, 19-year old Rihanna will be seen in her first ads as the newest CoverGirl, joining the ranks of Molly Sims, Christie Brinkley and Keri Russell. Rihanna reinforces the CoverGirl brand's heritage in music. The long list of famous CoverGirl models (which began in 1961) also boasts Cheryl Tiegs, Rachel Hunter, Tyra Banks, and Niki Taylor. "I've loved makeup and dreamed of being a CoverGirl since I was a little girl," said Rihanna. "Growing up, my mother was a makeup artist and I was fascinated watching her apply lipcolor, blush and mascara. Now I get to be surrounded by all of my favorites from CoverGirl!"

The Billboard Music Awards capped a gigantic year for Rihanna that also included:
* America's Teen Choice Awards' Breakthrough Female Artist and R&B Artist of the year;
* Canada's Much Music Award as Best International Artist;
* MTV Europe Music Award as Best R&B Artist;
* The European MOBO (Musicians of Black Origin) Award as Best R&B Artist;
* Japan's MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist in A Video for last year's "Pon de Replay";
* The BMI Urban Awards tribute for "Pon de Replay";
* The World Music Awards honor as the Best Selling International Artist.

Rihanna's homeland of Barbados showered her with 8 major awards: Best Dance Single for "Pon de Replay"; Best Reggae/Dancehall Album for Music of the Sun; Album of the Year for Music of the Sun; Song of the Year for "Pon de Replay"; Best New Artist; Female Artist of the Year; Best Selling Female Artist of the Year; and Entertainer of the Year.

A Girl Like Me was the follow-up to Music Of the Sun, Rihanna's debut album of 2005, featuring her #1 Dance hit "Pon De Replay," a traffic-stopper in the U.S. and Europe that was certified a triple-platinum digital download by the RIAA. With its infectious taste of "Tainted Love" (the Soft Cell classic), "S.O.S." became Rihanna's second world wide phenomenon – hitting #1 in the U.S. and Canada, the Japanese International chart, the Australian singles chart, and European airplay chart.

In the media blitz promoting last week’s release of her new CD “Introducing Joss Stone,” which debuts at No. 2 this week on the Billboard 200 album chart, the 19-year-old British soul singer had some interesting things to say in the new issue of Giant magazine.

While Stone had some harsh criticism for today’s crop of R&B singers, her most scathing words were saved specifically for singer-actress Christina Milian, who just so happens to be the ex-girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend, Beau Dozier.

Stone describes most singers today as “just highly paid strippers.” When told she may have just insulted a large swath of singers, she cocked her head to the side, flashed an innocent smile and said, “What? It’s not like I’m not telling the truth.”

When Christina Milian’s name came up in conversation, Stone, according to writer Aliya S. King, “doesn’t bother to hide her disdain for the woman who Dozier, now Stone’s ex-boyfriend, once dated.”

Stone told King: "I could tell you some stories about her... ," then launched into a “profanity-laced tirade against the pop star.”

King writes: “After I point to my tape recorder, reminding her that she's on record, Stone doesn't quit. Instead, she continues to go off on Milian and, even worse, Milian's mother. ‘I’m just honest,’ Stone concludes with a shrug.”

"Christina has never met Joss," Milan’s publicist responds. "She can’t imagine what this is all about."

Dave Chappelle Returning To Television As Producer On HBO Pilot

Dave Chappelle will return to television as a producer for a pilot on HBO called "Judge Mooney" starring comedian Paul Mooney. The show will have Mooney reenacting actual court cases that have already been decided but in a Paul Mooney style.

"Whatever I say goes," Mooney told the L.A. Daily News. "I've also got a little dog that sits on my judge's desk, and I ask the little dog's opinion. If the dog barks, I say, 'Well, the dog says you have to go.' It's real crazy."

Mooney is known for his many appearances on "Chappelle's Show" as Negrodamus and on the comedy club circuit.

Recently, Paul Mooney announced that he would no longer use the "N-word" in his stand-up performances.

"Using the word, we were trying to defuse it, trying to desensitize people to it ... take the power out of it," Mooney said. "But the word is an equal-opportunity word now, with Latin kids and white kids saying it, and what it conjures up is all these demons. I watched
the Michael Richards meltdown over and over, and I had an 'N'-exorcism. And I don't care how you spell it, with an 'a' or an 'er,' if you sautĂ© or barbecue a goat, it's still a goat. But I was married to the word then — now I'm divorced from the word."

Joss Stone "Reintroduces" Herself, Marques Houston Proves He's a Vet, Baby Boy Da Prince Gets Crowned

In this week's Hip-Hop and R&B charts, Joss Stone makes an impressive debut, Marques Houston scores in the top 5 and Akon continues to dominate.

Debuting at No. 2 this week is sultry songstress Joss Stone. Riding the success of her single, "Tell Me 'Bout It," her Introducing Joss Stone disc, which features collaborations with Raphael Saadiq and Common, moved 118,000 copies.

Coming in at No.5 is former Immature front man Marques Houston with his latest offering Veteran. Proving that he's paid his dues in the game, the album pushed 68,600 units in its first week on the charts.

In a testament to staying power, Akon refuses to relinquish his stranglehold on the charts, dropping only one spot, coming in at No. 6 this week. In it's 19th week on the charts, Konvicted racked up 68,500 discs and is flirting with double-platinum status, bringing its total to 1,932,000 records sold.

After debuting at No.2 last week, pretty boy thug Lloyd drops five spots to land at No. 7. With the singles "You" and "Shawty" still going strong, the young crooner managed to move 55,500 copies of his latest effort Street Love, pushing his two-week total to 200,100 discs scanned.

Last week's top seller, Musiq Soulchild slips seven spots but stays in the top 10, coming in at No. 8 this week. Philly's favorite "Buddy" hustled 53,800 copies of Luvanmusiq, bringing the album's tally to 203,600 units sold.

The lone hip-hop artist to break the top 10, Alabama's own Rich Boy falls six spots from last week before claiming the No. 9 position. His self-titled CD moved 48,700 CDs this week, a 56% drop from last week, to bring the album's grand total to 161,000 LP's sold.

UK soul sensation Amy Winehouse continues to intoxicate fans with her Back To Black disc. Coming in this week at No.10 and possibly receiving an extra push from her song, "You Know I'm No Good," the British bombshell shoved off 47,700 more copies, rounding out her total sales at 99,000 units.

Blue-eyed soul is alive and well this week with both Justin Timberlake and Robin Thicke coming in at No. 11 and 12 respectively. In exactly the same spots they enjoyed on last week's charts, JT's FutureSex/Love Sounds is being fueled by his latest single "What Goes Around" which helped him to move 41,900 records. That pushes his total album sales to an impressive 3,001,600 units after a 28 week run on the charts. Robin Thicke is continuing to show the industry why they'd be lost without him, too. His Evolution Of Robin Thicke reels in an extra 40,100 discs and continues its campaign for platinum status with a total of 852,700 albums sold.

Still living the "Glamorous" life is Fergie, landing exactly where she was last week at the No.13 spot. Already having a platinum plaque under her belt, Dutchess pushed an additional 39,700 CDs to bring the diva's total to 1,642,300 records sold in 27 weeks on the charts.

Songbird Corinne Bailey Rae fell a couple of spots from No. 20 to No. 22 as her self-titled and critically acclaimed album Corinne Bailey Rae quietly pushed an extra 32,300 records this week, which moves her total to 1,329,500 units moved.

New Orleans' own Baby Boy Da Prince entered the charts this week at No. 26 with his album Across The Water. The album's single, "The Way I Live" has received moderate airplay and helped the newcomer pull 25,700 discs off the shelf this week.

Legendary Southern rap duo 8Ball & MJG managed to grab hold of the No. 28 spot after a strong debut last week. Falling 20 spots from the previous week, fans rode off with 25,000 copies of Ridin High, bringing their total to 76,000 units sold.

The Notorious B.I.G.'s posthumous release, Greatest Hits, found a home this week at No. 29, moving an additional 25,000 records and an overall 163,200 units with Houston-bred Devin The Dude right behind with 24,900 copies sold of his latest, Waitin' To Inhale, as it debuts at No. 30 this week.

The rowdy Crime Mob bunch also debuted on the charts this week at No. 31 with their sophomore set, Hated On Mostly. While the single "Rock Yo Hips" is still enjoying both radio and video play, the crew only managed to move 22,100 copies in its first week.

Young Jeezy's Inspiration: Thug Motivation continues to chart, nearing the platinum mark and racking up another 18,500 albums to reach the No. 37 spot this week. Rounding off its total numbers at 968,000 units, the trap star is hoping that his R. Kelly-assisted single "Go Getta" will push him over the million mark.

Rounding out the charts this week, Gerald Levert's In My Songs lands at No. 42 with 15,600 copies sold, bringing its total to 314,000 records moved. Ciara's Evolution, on the heels of her "Like A Boy" single saw 15,000 more discs leave the shelves leaving her at the No. 45 spot, taking her total to 1,072,400 LPs scanned.

At No. 54, Beyonce's B Day is still making some noise, pushing 14,000 more albums and upping her total to 2,360,800 units while Diddy and Birdman & Lil' Wayne barely make the top 100. Diddy's Press Play moved 9,500 more copies taking him to No. 90, bringing his total to 583,900 records sold, while the Cash Money collective got off 9,400 more copies of Like Father Like Son, coming in at No.92 and rounding off their total at 678,200 records sold.

Next week, look for a strong showing from G-Unit's Young Buck and Prodigy, veteran MC Redman, newcomer MIMS and The Dogg Pound.

Daily Update 3*28*07

EVE speaks Out on Drama with Lil' Kim and infamous Sex Tape.

Giant magazine gets the goods from Eve in the new April/May issue. On the cusp of her new pop/rap album, "Here I Am," the triple threat entertainer goes back to her hip hop roots after a four year sabbatical to concentrate on her self-titled UPN sitcom and fashion line, Fetish...

In a candid interview with GIANT contributor Regina Robertson, the 28 year-old self-pronounced "pitbull in a skirt" shares her thoughts on everything from MySpace to Jay-Z to sex tapes to the state of hip hop music.
Specifically, in the Giant cover issue titled "Bound to Win" you'll find the raptress dishing ...

ON THE LEAKED SEX TAPE WITH FORMER BOYFRIEND STEVIE J. "I was hurt by it. But what kept me calm was that everybody knew he was my boyfriend. Not that I wanted people to see me having sex, but it wasn't like I was getting gangbanged - that would have been crazy."

ON RECONNECTING WITH LIL' KIM " I used to roll in the car with my high school friends listening to Biggie and Kim. (But we were) not speaking, for whatever reason. When my publicist told me we would be sitting across from each other, I was like, 'Are you serious?' There wasn't any real beef, but I just didn't want any tension. But we ended up talking, like really talking, for forty-five minutes. We even exchanged numbers. I'd love to do a joint with Kim. I really want to see her come back, you know?"

ON INTERRACIAL LOVE " I'm going to love who loves me, and if I'm attracted to a person, I'm attracted to them. I've had black men say to me, 'Oh, I heard you were dating a white man.' It's like, 'Have I gone out with (a white man)? Yes. Am I dating someone white? No, but if I was, it would be my choice, so stay out of my business.'"

ON THE DECLINE OF HIP HOP MUSIC "For me, it all started with (D4L's) 'Laffy Taffy.' When I first heard that song on the radio, I just knew it was a joke, but then I kept hearing it. Every artist has the right to do what they want, but I don't believe in making that kind of music. It's disposable. Hip-hop is in cardiac arrest, but I think it's revivable."

Formerly signed to Roc-a-Fella Records as a member of the group Diamonds in da Ruff, REBEL is now an unsigned solo artist writing the next chapter in his life.

Since breaking away from The Roc in 2001, REBEL has formulated his own movement (S.I.B Entertainment) and established himself as a unparalleled solo artist who is a deadly combination of talent, experience, business savvy, self-confidence and an intense drive that is fueled by his deep love for the music.

REBEL’s longstanding anger at Jay for stealing his sign and running with it without so much a sign of gratitude or acknowledgment. An anger that has only intensified over the years as his diamond sign has taken on a life of it’s own.

“When I first saw Jay throwing up the diamond sign on the cover of his Dynasty album I can’t lie, I was angry” said REBEL. “But I had temporarily given up rap so I let it rock. I guess at the time I also never imagined he’d push it so hard. When I got back in the game and had gotten all the way comfortable being a solo artist I had written a dis record and was ready to go at Jay hard but I stopped myself. I didn’t want my music to have to compete with the controversy. But In the past year or two since then, I‘ve come to some important realizations. For starters, my music is strong enough to hold it’s own against a little controversy or anything else you throw at it. Secondly, I’ve never let anyone or anything stop me from being who I am or saying or doing what I want no matter what the consequences. By my own standards I was being a clown for holding my tongue on something that I felt so strongly about.”

“You can clearly see me throwing up the diamond sign in The Streets is Watching movie in 1998. Jay didn’t begin throwing up the diamond sign until The Dynasty Album in 2000 after we (Diamonds in da Ruff) had left the label and broken up. I mean ask urself. What’s a diamond got to do with a dynasty? The diamond represents Diamonds in da Ruff - - that’s my group.”

REBEL isn’t looking to ride some anti Jay-Z wave to the top. He truly hopes that people can just appreciate the long overdue history lesson and move forward to continue to give his music the long hard listen it deserves because at the end of the day he wants to be known for his ability to make classic music.

By coming forward he has secured his due recognition for his past contributions to the game. Now he wants to set the stage for his future contributions. “Throw ur Diamonds up” is a hard hitting freestyle that is saturated with indisputable evidence.

The freestyle is intended not as a dis record but as a history lesson.

It isn’t an attack on Jay-Z.

It’s a charismatic outline of the facts and an introduction to the artist of the future.

(L note: I remember D.I.D.R. from the streets is watching, and early Roc-a-fella songs, but to keep it funky Nas Threw it up in "it aint hard to tell" video back in 94.
I wonder what Hov has to say.)

Jacob The Jeweler To Stand Trial In Detroit

Monday 3/26 a federal judge decided that celebrity jeweler "Jacob the Jeweler" should stand trial in Detroit on money laundering charges.

As previously reported, the 41-year-old gem merchant (born Jacob Arabov) filed a motion last October requesting that his case be moved to New York.

The motion, filed by Jacob's attorney Benjamin Brafman, said it would be prejudicial to Jacob's case if he is tried alongside accused drug dealers and that it will be too expensive for the infamous jeweler to defend himself in Detroit.

According to Associated Press reports, U.S. District Judge Avern Cohn denied the motion, telling Arabov, "You should prepare yourself for a trial in the Eastern District of Michigan."

Arabov was arrested last June, outside his flagship store in New York, on a warrant issued in Detroit by federal authorities accusing him with conspiring with others to launder money through his jewelry business. The jeweler was one of 16 people indicted by a Michigan District Attorney last May for laundering over $270 million in drug profits.

Jacob has been accused of accepting money from the multi-state drug organization known as Black Mafia Family (BMF) and giving them jewelry in return without reporting the transactions.
Last June Arabov pleaded not-guilty to the money laundering charges and was freed on $100,000 bond.

Jacob Arabov emigrated from Russia to become one of the most well-known celebrity jewelers in the U.S. Also known as the "King of Bling," Jacob has outfitted megastars including the Notorious B.I.G., Madonna, Kanye West and Elton John with his pieces.

Fire officials said a Thursday house fire of former Making the Band singer Sara Stokes may be deemed suspicious.

The fire started about 3 p.m. in a second-story back bedroom said Port Huron fire Inspector Lt. Mark White. Officials have not released details about why they believe the fire may have been suspicious. The fire still is being investigated.

Lt. Mark Kern received minor injuries when he fell through a hole in the floor of the home's second story up to his elbows. The firefighter was able to scramble out of the hole, Anderson said, and his protective gear saved him from more serious injury. Kern was treated at the scene by Tri-Hospital EMS.

Firefighter Jesse Diaz, 46, was taken to Port Huron Hospital for treatment of heat exhaustion and released at 6 p.m. He is expected to return to work today.

Port Huron Fire Department Battalion Chief Kevin Anderson said all of the city's 13 firefighters on duty responded to the fire, including three engine companies and one ladder truck.

Crews had the flames under control within 15 minutes, Anderson said, but the fire was intense.

"They found a very heavy fire in the northeast upper bedroom," he said. Neighbors said neither of the Stokes or their three children were home when the blaze started.

Lil Eazy-E Remakes "Boyz-N-Tha-Hood"

It's been quiet around Lil Eazy-E, but this might just be the silence before the storm... Because Lil E has been grinding hard, and his debut solo album "Prince Of Compton", which is set to hit stores this summer, is shaping up to be a monster.

I had the pleasure of hearing several of the songs recorded for the album at the studio, and Eazy, with the help of grammy-winning producer Chink Santana, mostly known for his platinum work for Murder Inc, is definitely not to be slept on.

The son of the Godfather of Gangsta Rap is bringing some straight gangsta music to the fans who have been eagerly waiting for him.

Until the first single drops, we have a new track for ya'll, a remake of "Boyz-N-Tha-Hood", produced by Chink Santana. Get it below

The forecast for the summer just got a whole lot chillier, as the Snowman has just announced a May 22nd release date for the first release from his Corporate Thugz Entertainment (CTE) label, Young Jeezy Presents USDA: Cold Summer.

"It's crazy," Jeezy recently told MTV News. "I wanted to do it mixtape-style 'cause I wanted it to be something for the streets. It's like Trap or Die on steroids. I love that. It's a street album, just raw."

Young Jeezy Presents USDA: Cold Summer is a certified street banger from top to bottom, featuring production work from CTE's stable of up-and-coming producers like Sanchez, Nazty, Midnight Black and Drumma Boy, who produced the group's first 808-heavy single "White Girl."

Built into Jeezy's set is a segment highlighting USDA, including "White Girl," which is already starting to buzz in the south. And starting today, fans will be able to check out exclusive footage of the group on the road on USDA TV, a YouTube channel set up by CTE.

Kelly) has hit #1 on BET's 106 & Park, Big 10 on MTV, and is a Top 5 urban radio hit, with over 50 million in audience. Kim Mathers Reneges On Court Decision, Criticizes Eminem on Hot 97

The truce between rapper Eminem and his ex-wife Kim Mathers has dissolved.

Just one day after the couple agreed not to criticize each other in public for the sake of their 11-year-old daughter Hailie, Kim Mathers spoke negatively about Eminem during an interview Tuesday (Mar. 27) morning on New York's Hot 97 radio station, during Miss Jones' morning show.

"How many songs has he done about me?" Mathers asked Miss Jones. "How many interviews has he done where he's talking about freedom of speech? ... I do a couple of interviews and he's crying like a little girl."

The interview is a reversal of the decision Eminem and Mathers made on Monday (Mar. 26) following a court hearing.

The couple declared that insulting each other and making slanderous comments in the media could prove harmful by having an adverse effect on Hailie.

Their relationship has been the subject of many of Eminem's songs, including songs like "Just The Two of Us," "Kim," and "Mockingbird."

Despite the agreement, Mathers expressed her views about Eminem's recent legal action to stop her from speaking about their relationship and accused the 34-year-old lyricist of being "disconnected from reality" during the interview.

She also revealed that she has no contact with Eminem, despite living a mile away.

As for any chance of reconciliation between the twice-divorced couple, Mathers summed it up by saying, "We don't work good together. It's not good for the kids."

Representatives for Eminem refused to comment on the matter.

Timbaland Remaking Popular Song

Timbaland will produce a remake of the Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell song “You’re All I Need to Get By,” according to hnnlive. Timbaland’s version will feature Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears. The song was a Motown hit in 1968 and then remade in the 90s by Method Man, with Mary J. Blige on the hook.

Sources say Timbaland, Spears and Timberlake will record the duet some time this week in Los Angeles. The song is slated to appear on Spears’ new album.

The song is reportedly a result of Timbaland pleading with Timberlake to help propel Spears back to the top of the charts.

“Britney was extremely touched that Justin had been in contact. Going to the studio is Justin’s way of helping her get better,” said sources.
Spears checked out of rehab last week.

Miss Jones dissing Lupe; offers a break to aspiring MCs

Controversial NY radio host, Miss Jones is at it again. The on air personality briefly made a statement planning to rally against Lupe Fiasco's feature on Musiq Soulchild's currently circulating "Buddy (remix)" and claimed that the heads at Def Jam will be hearing about her boycott. On the Miss Jones show, while the song was on air, Jonesy cut through the song's ending, where Lupe's verse was and asked, "Who is this person bringing down the quality of this song?" After being informed from a colleague that it was Lupe Fiasco, she then stated that she couldn't take it and went on to state that his verses absolutely made no sense at all and was completely irrelevant to the song's content.

After the Hot97 jock ordered for the song to be taken back to the beginning, Miss Jones and her team began to break down and chastize Lupe's lyrics, where he says, "No, I don't want your number, nor your name, nor a dance/ I don't want your time, or your sign, or a chance/ because I'm so cooool, I'm so straight, Look I ain't tryna hit, and I don't want no date/look this point in time, currently on my grind, and I don't want no distractions..." The morning crew pointed out that his verses completely defied what the song was about and made no sense at all, especially since the whole song is about chasing after a female.

With the whole team nodding in agreeance, one of the crew members jokingly said that Lupe would prefer skating, then to want all those things. Additional jokes from the staff about the skateboard mc included his adlibs and his overall presence on the song.

The shock jock then went on to announce that any aspiring rappers that are looking to get put on and or looking for a break can add themselves to the song in place of Lupe Fiasco and can start by uploading it on youtube. No official announcement was made if this was an official contests or not, but she promised to play a remix of the song featuring an aspiring rapper every morning on Hot97 over the Lupe Fiasco version. For more details, you can email the morning team at

Although controversial, upcoming rappers should definitely cease the opportunity as Miss Jones can be very influential on the nationwide playlists. The shock jock played a major role in breaking Robin Thicke's "Lost Without You" record as probably one of the first to expose the record on urban radio, which is now across national urban radio across the country.
