Saigon Released On $1500 Bail
New York rapper Saigon was released on $1500 bail after cops found a gravity knife during a traffic stop.
Police stopped the rapper for a traffic violation near 11th Avenue and W. 29th Street in Manhattan around 1:30 am.
When officers searched his vehicle, they uncovered the gravity knife. He was charged with weapons possession.
“This is another example of New York’s finest targeting a member of the rap and entertainment industry,” Saigon’s Attorney Scott Leemon told AHH.
“The car that Saigon was driving was not owned by him. More importantly, the small pocket knife was found in a console in the car, not on his possession.”
Saigon was released on $1500 bail and is due back in court on December 5.
“I am hoping after further investigation this will be another example of a rapper being wrongfully arrested,” Leemon continued.
Amy Winehouse Involved In Fight With Husband

British singing sensation Amy Winehouse who’s most commonly known in the hip hop world for her high profile collaborations with rappers Jay Z and Ghostface was involved in a physical altercation yesterday morning with her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil.
According to reports, Winehouse- who was recently treated for a drug overdose and is currently nominated for four Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards, was seen meeting a young female who handed her a small package outside of her hotel.
The singer returned to her hotel room and within hours other guests complained of raised voices, clattering furniture and screaming.
Things calmed down after the hotel staff was called by patrons however, at around 2.30am, guests said the fight sounded like it had restarted – then Winehouse was seen sprinting down the corridor to the elevator, pursued by her badly bleeding husband.
“Amy was in floods of tears. This guy was screaming at her.” Said a guest who happened to be in the elevator as the couple entered.
“She was cowering in the corner and I thought he was going to hit her. When the lift door opened, she took off across the lobby at a real pace.
“He was chasing after her and was about five paces behind by the time she got to the main hotel entrance.”
The couple then dashed into the street.
An eyewitness said: “Just after 3am, Amy came sprinting out and down the road.
“She was in a real state of panic. Blake was running after her, but couldn’t catch up.
“Amy was so hell-bent on getting away from him that she ran into the middle of the street and flagged down a random car that happened to be full of girls.
“She was saying, ‘Quickly, I have to get in, I have to get away, please help me’.
“Her voice was breaking, you could tell she was scared.
“The car drove off at speed and ended up about a mile away at Charing Cross station. Amy got out and went into a 24-hour shop to buy cigarettes.
“She was looking completely out of her head. Blake ran after the car for a while. He spent the next halfhour or so wandering around in a daze with blood over his face, looking in doorways for her, shouting her name out.
“Eventually, he got through to her on the cellphone.
“There were a lot of tears and shouting, but they calmed down and met up at around 4am and slowly walked back to the hotel arm-in-arm. They got back at 4.45am.”

R. Kelly Shuts Down Tour Rumors In Midst Of Child Pornography Trial

Rumors of R. Kelly embarking on a tour in October have been discounted in a statement issued yesterday (August 23) by the crooner's spokesman.
"Reports that R. Kelly is planning a concert tour in October are not true," the statement read. "Kelly is currently focused on preparing for his trial and has no definite plans for anything beyond that."
Various media outlets had claimed that Kelly would be heading on tour with R&B singer Keyshia Cole.
As previously reported, Kelly is facing 14 counts of child pornography stemming from a video tape that allegedly features the Chicago bred singer engaged in sexual acts with a teenage girl.
Earlier this week, the judge overseeing the trial said the aforementioned tape will be allowed to be shown in court. prosecutors revealed they plan to bring in an expert witness who has examined the vein patterns of the man's hand in the videotape, which they believe is consistent with Kelly's hand.
Kelly's trial is set to begin on September 17. He faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted
50 Cent, Jay-Z & Oprah Among Celebs Subpoenaed In $900 Mil Lawsuit Against Canada

50 Cent, Jay-Z, Snoop Dogg and Oprah Winfrey are reportedly among over three dozen celebrities who have been subpoenaed to testify in a Detroit producer's $900 million federal lawsuit accusing Canadian border officials of discriminating against rappers and African-Americans.
As previously reported, Jerome Almon, CEO of Detroit-based label, Murdercap Records, filed the lawsuit in January, claiming that for over a decade he has faced lengthy interrogations and has been consistently turned away when trying to cross the Canadian border. Almon says he is not the only one facing this problem, claiming he shares this experience with a slew of hip-hop's most popular rappers.
Almon's suit blames Canada's alleged prejudice on African Americans and rappers "in an effort to both blame them for the increased gang violence and gun murders in the cities of Toronto and Vancouver."
According to The Detroit Press, Almon subpoenaed black celebrities such as Oprah, Spike Lee and Snoop on Wednesday (August 22) because he wants them to testify about their own problems when trying to enter Canada.
The Detroit CEO has not ended there, also subpoening white celebrities as well, such as Martha Stewart and Paris Hilton, who have both done jail time, to testify about how comparatively easy it is for them to cross the border.
"The Canadian government is dirty, they know it and I know it," Almon said. "They been caught and now they trying' to figure out how they keep the rest of the rap stars like 50 Cent, Eminem, Jay-Z , etc from suing them too."
Almon feels now is the time for all in hip-hop to pull together, and this is as good a time to start as any.
"There is a global war on hip-hop, they blaming us for everything and anything, and we got to stand up right now," he continued. "We got to take our hands out of our pockets and drop our backhand on them."
Almon is not alone in questioning the treatment of rappers hoping to cross the boarder. As SOHH previously reported, during a stop on his 2005 tour, 50 Cent expressed his frustration with Canadian Immigration after key members of G-Unit, including Young Buck and Tony Yayo, were denied entry into the country.
"Somebody got shot the other day and they said it was my fault and didn't want to let me in the country," 50 told a Vancouver crowd. "I was in immigration for about two hours today and I thought about turning back. Young Buck got turned back. And Tony Yayo, Mobb Deep and M.O.P. But I stuck it out...@#*$ the police!"
According to the Detroit Free Press, Canadian officials have denied that they discriminate on the basis of race.
Lawrence A. Dubin, a law professor at the University Of Detroit Mercy School Of Law, revealed to the Detroit News that he doubts the celebrities will show up to give depositions in Almon's lawsuit. He also added that the celebrities who receive the subpoenas can seek court orders to overturn them.
"Without being well-versed on the facts of the case, I think that autograph-seekers should not start lining up for the event," Dubin explained.
The celebrities' depositions in Almon's lawsuit are scheduled to take place at the Cobo Center in Detroit on September 22.
Emails sent to the Canadian immigration office have not been answered at press time.
PRAS CONTINUES LAURYN HILL RANT

More evidence that chances of a Fugees reunion are all but dead comes from former member Pras, who tells AHH.com that Lauryn Hill's behavior continues to be the biggest obstacle.
"Before I work with Lauryn Hill again, you will have a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and [George W.] Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies, before there will be a Fugees reunion," Pras told the Web site. "At this point I really think it will take an act of God to change her, because she is that far out there."
Pras continued: "I was really a fan of Lauryn Hill's and I felt that if she would have honed her skills she could have definitely been one of the greatest emcees. There is no way a reunion will happen."
Pras is currently working on his sophomore album, Experience, due later this year. His film Skid Row, a documentary about homelessness in Los Angeles, will open nationwide later this year.
Ice Cube In Talks With Fred Durst For New Sports Flick

Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst is looking to direct a new dimension film project starring Ice Cube
According to the Hollywood Reporter, Durst is currently in negotiations to direct Comeback, the inspirational story of 11-year-old quarterback Jasmine Plummer, who led her football team, the Harvey Colts, to the Pop Warner Super Bowl as the first female player in league history.
Comeback stars Ice Cube, as Plummer's uncle, a former high school football star, and centers on the poor Illinois town that is uplifted by the team's success.
The spec script for Comeback was written by former writer/co-producer of the television show "The Guardian," Nick Santora, who read an article about Plummer and convinced her family to sell him the rights to their story. Santora spent five years unsuccessfully pitching the project before hooking Cube, who will also produce the film alongside Santora and Cube Vision partner Matt Alvarez.
"The lead was an 11-year-old African-American girl," Santora said. "It was a tough sell."
Dimension Films has since signed on to release the film. Akeelah and The Bee writer, Doug Atchison has been recruited to rewrite the screenplay for Comeback.
If Durst's role is finalized, it won't be his first time in the director's seat. He recently directed another drama, The Education of Charlie Banks.
Nick Santora is currently a writer/executive producer on "Prison Break" as well as the co-creator of "Beauty and The Geek." Ice Cube most recently starred in the comedy sequel Are We Done Yet? and next appears in the crime comedy First Sunday.
Bizzy Bone To Release Solo Album

While the Swizz Beatz backed return of Bone Thugs-N-Harmony proved that the relationship between Bizzy Bone and his former brethren is still somewhat rocky, his upcoming solo album finds him mending fences with another rapid-rhyming Midwesterner. "Money," the lead single from Bizzy's A Song For You, features the former Eazy-E protege rhyming alongside Chicago's Twista. The feud between Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Twista was well documented in the movie Beef, but has long since been settled and Twista is one of many A-List artists to appear on Bizzy Bone's album.
"I can't wait for my fans to hear my new music," says Bizzy Bone. "For the first time in my life, I've truly been able to put aside all my demons and just focus on making the best music possible. Don't believe what you've heard--I'm back, I'm bringing it, and I'm here to stay."
A Song For You will feature guest appearances by DMX, Trina, Jim Jones and others. The album, which will be released on After Platinum/Virgin Records, is Bizzy's first major label release since 1998's Heaven'z Movie, which was certified gold. Although no official release date has been given, tracks and additional information are available on Bizzy's official Myspace Page.
Nas Talks New Reality Show, Fashion

couple of years back, no one would have expected the self proclaimed “God’s Son” to star in his own reality tv show with his wife of 2 years, Kelis.
Nas, who has been called by many one of the industries most mysterious rappers says he himself could not believe he was doing it.
“Sometimes I feel like “This is cool, man; I have TV cameras following me wherever I go,” he says in the new issue of Fashion Rock magazine, sipping a margarita from a plastic cup.
“Other times I want to crawl under a rock.” His mouth turns down stubbornly. “I feel like an idiot–’Did I really agree to this?’ It feels so self-absorbed, so self-indulgent.”
“It’s going to be great, baby,” says Kelis in the calming tones of someone used to this conversation. “It has to be great, because if
it’s not great we won’t let them put it on TV.”
On Fashion:
“Before I met Kelis, I wore Gucci or whatever was hot,” says Nas.
“I didn’t dress badly, because there’s no excuse to disrespect the gods of the stage with some bummy shit: I always say you better rob, cheat, or steal threads to look good up there because hip-hop is about being fresh from your head to toes. But this is a whole different level. Kelis has really made me get my spirit up and step up my clothes game.”
No word yet as to when the series will air.
Havoc Overlooks Koch For Solo CD

After years of working alongside partner-in-rhyme Prodigy, Mobb Deep's Havoc is ready to step out on his own. With the release of his indie debut, The Kush, just around the corner, SOHH caught up with the Queensbridge MC/producer to discuss why Koch was not an option for him, speculations about dissent in the G-Unit camp, and his new DVD.
Having played the back for most of Mobb Deep's tenure, Havoc says that he felt the time was right to drop his first solo effort.
"I had a little time on my hands between the Mobb Deep and G-Unit albums and basically had the opportunity to do it," Hav said. "So I figured, why not now."
Like Prodigy, Hav felt it was more beneficial to put his record out through an indie, but unlike his partner he didn't want to go the Koch route.
"I [chose to] come out on an indie because there's a little more freedom, less politics and more money on the back end," He explained. "Koch is really feeling themselves right now and they're starting to become like a major independent, so I went with Nature Sounds. I don't wanna be where everybody else is at. I'm a leader, not a follower."
Hoping that Mobb fans will gravitate to The Kush more than fans connected with the duo's G-Unit debut, 2006's Blood Money, Havoc is skeptical of his die-hard fans' inability to watch the group grow.
"I think the fans prejudged that situation and that album before it even hit the shelves," Hav said. "Without hearing the music, they were upset already. Fans, you gotta love them, but they're like parents. You want to see your child grow up and get bigger but when you see them growing up, they don't like it."
"I was actually happy with the results of that record [Blood Money]," Hav continued. "I didn't expect to sell 2 million records. I look at all of my projects and have high expectations but I'm realistic. Just because you're down with G-Unit doesn't mean you're going to sell 5 million albums. Who the @#*$ said that?"
Hav also says that people misconstrued 50's comments when he said he lost money on the Mobb album and that there is no truth to rumors about dissention within the G-Unit ranks.
"When he [50] talks like that, he's talking from a major label perspective," he explained. "I think people were trying to look at him like it was his fault if these projects don't live up to someone else's expectations. He was just saying that he's not going to let people depend solely on him, that you have to go out and get it for yourself and ain't nothing wrong with that."
"G-Unit is not over," Havoc added. "People like to make things up. we just did the screamfest, all of us together on stage. If it was like that, that wouldn't have been the case."
As far as his own project, Hav says The Kush is a return to the dark, grimy, New York hip-hop he is known for. Yet while he is going back to his roots, he has also believes he has grown as a producer and a lyricist.
"I'm constantly trying to out do myself," he said. I feel like I have a lot more to accomplish as a producer. You're never supposed to just be satisfied where you are. The rhymes have grown as well. Rhyming alongside one of the best lyricists in the game, Prodigy, you have no choice but to get better. People are going to be pleased with this album."
The Kush hits stores on September 18 on Nature Sounds records.
THE RETURN OF MR. LUVA LUVA

Dancehall superstar Shaggy launches a new joint venture with Big Yard and VP Records with the Oct. 16 release of his forthcoming album, "Intoxication."
For the project's first single, "Bonafide Girl," Shaggy recruits "It Wasn't Me" partner-in-crime Rik Rok and Tony Gold. Other guests on the album include Akon, Collie Budz, Kalonji, Mischieve, Nasha and Sizzla.
"While creating the album I wasn't signed to any particular label so I didn't have the usual interference into my creative process." Shaggy tells Billboard.com. "That's what I was trying to get back to with 'Intoxication' -- both hardcore dancehall and reggae. It's a climatic musical roller coaster ride for all to enjoy."
Other tracks on Intoxication include "Can't Hold Me," "Out of Control" featuring Rayvon ("Angel"), and "Church Heathen," where Shaggy criticizes organized religion. Lyrics in the song include: "Preachers dip into the collection basket for Benz payments / and women doing the Dutty Wine Saturday night look for salvation on Sunday."
Akon sings the chorus to the breakup song "What's Love," while Budz and Sizzla reggae-chat about social ills on "Mad Mad World."
Missy Elliot Partners With Doritos For New Ad Campaign

Billboard.com is reporting that Missy Elliot has partnered with Doritos for a new ad campaign.
In a TV spot that debuts Sept. 17, Elliott is seen working on a new track and then pausing to snack on Doritos Collisions chips. Inspired by the two different-tasting chips in the same bag, Elliott has an epiphany: her song needs two different musical styles. So, she immediately injects her hip-hop track with a little bit of country twang.
Missy's manager Mona Scott of Violator says the campaign offered her client the perfect creative outlet. "The whole idea of the mash-up is so prevalent and popular in music today," Scott says. "It's so Missy. And the fact that the campaign takes place in a studio means that Missy remains in her element, which makes the whole thing authentic."
Missy will appear in TV and Internet spots, with the web portion providing fans a link to Elliott's Web site, where they learn more about the artist and her forthcoming, new album (tentatively titled "The Countdown"), due in December from The Gold Mind/Atlantic Records.
Visitors logging on to snackstrongproductions.com will be encouraged to create their own mash-ups (or "collisions"), using Elliott's track as the foundation.
Ja Rule CD Pushed Back, Rapper Teams Up With Game

Not quite ready to toss his hat back in the game just yet, Ja Rule's comeback disc The Mirror has been pushed back from it's original release date in September to November.
As previously reported, Ja is gearing up to release his first album in three years, and has teamed up with Lil' Wayne on the album's first single, "Uh Ohhh."
According to Rolling Stone, the Hollis, Queens mc also got assistance from longtime 50 Cent rival The Game, collaborating on the song "Sunset." Before Game, Ja Rule and 50 had a long standing beef, on and off wax. Yet this isn't the first time rule has worked with the former G-Unit emcee; Game first reached out to Ja for his "One Blood" remix last year.
"I don't think people were expecting that," Rule told Rolling Stone about linking up with the West Coast rapper. "but we got a hot record on the album."
Rule also took a page out of The Beatles' book, as his latest album is set to feature the track "Father Forgive Me," an update of the legendary rock group's song "Eleanor Rigby."
"Hopefully, I make The Beatles proud," says Rule. "Big shout out to Paul McCartney and the whole gang, Ringo and everybody!"
Wanting to differentiate himself from an atmosphere that he feels is centered around conflict, Rule says that he refuses to be a part of any negativity and simply wants to make good music.
"The whole industry is so focused on beefin' with each other - it's like the WWF of rap right now," Ja said. "i'm stepping out of the arena. I don't want to be a wrestlin' rapper." adding, "Somebody's got to come in and make it positive. You have to make records that make people feel like having a good time."
Even though Ja says that much of the album is geared towards him expressing himself through feel good music, there is also a serious side to the disc, with the album's cover being an actual mirror representing the introspective nature of the album.
"This record is like my confessions, I'm shedding my skins," he says. "The mirror is your only real moment of truth. It's the place where everybody can go and be honest with themselves."
The Mirror is scheduled to hit shelves in november on Mpire/Murder Inc./Universal Motown Records.
