Kanye West ’Graduation‘ - 781,000 units sold
50 cent ‘Curtis‘ - 603,000 units sold
Looks like 'Ye is winning but I think everybody would knew that would happen. But on the real both Curtis and Kanye should be happy. Both albums are already gold and this is just the 1st week. The Last time any hip hop artist had a 1st week even close to this was Hov's Kingdome Come.
So its a good look for hip hop, on the bad end of this prepare for all the Kanye copy cats to come out the woodworks because he's moving mega units. Kinda like when Ma$e (Bad Boy) was running ish, and every body came out with the old school '80's samples. (Remember Sunshine ??? )
Look for a similar trend if Kanye outsales 50.

Alleged Remy Ma Assault Victim Speaks Out, "How Can They Still Be Walking The Streets?"
Sydney Holmes, a Bronx man who says he was assaulted by Remy Ma's entourage because of his connection to a witness in Remy's shooting case, recently revealed details about the incident.
As previously reported, Remy (born Remy Smith ) was charged on Wednesday (September 12) with witness-tampering and gang-assault charges after prosecutors claimed she ordered an assault on Holmes and a witness' boyfriend at a Bronx nightclub. Prosecutors believe Remy wanted to intimidate the witness who allegedly saw her shoot Makeda Barnes-Joseph in July.
Holmes recounted the incident to New York's Daily News saying that he and his unidentified friend were minding their own businesses at the club when Remy's boyfriend and his crew stared them down before attacking them.
"I was fighting seven dudes by myself," Holmes explained. "I was just defending myself. Now my jaw is broken in two places and I have a plate in my chin for the rest of my life."
While Holmes endured a broken jaw, the witness' boyfriend suffered a black eye and a fractured bone in his face.
Holmes, who revealed that he is a longtime friend of Barnes-Joseph, said he doesn't know whether Remy ordered the assault but wants the rapper brought to justice.
"I have nothing against Remy but I just want justice to be done," he emphasized. "How can they break my jaw and still be walking the streets? It's crazy right now with my sister being shot. I told Makeda, we're going to go through this together."
Prosecutors had originally charged Remy with attempted murder for Barnes-Joseph's shooting but recently dropped it to assault after evidence revealed that the gun may have gone off accidentally.
In a statement sent to TMZ, Remy's publicist, Duran Brown, offered another side of the story.
"To clarify, the assaulted male is not a witness in this case," she said. "To sway public opinion the most recent indictment or 'accusation' has been released to the public in faith that it causes doubt of Remy Ma's innocence, rather then highlighting the fact that this case has now turned into an assault plea. Remy Ma maintains her innocence of all charges and will continue to do her best as an entertainer, mother, friend, and entrepreneur for the betterment of her continually successful career."
Remy, who has plead not guilty to all the charges, is due back in court on September 20.
"Magic Stick" Producer Pulls $2 Mil Suit Out Of His Hat, Names 50 Cent & Lil Kim
A New York based producer has reportedly filed a $2 million lawsuit against 50 Cent, Lil Kim, Atlantic Records and Rotten Apple Records for failing to pay royalties for his work on the song "Magic Stick."
According to the Associated Press, Carlos Evans, also known as Fantom of the Beat, claims that Rotten Apple contracted him on January 2003 to produce, engineer and mix "Magic Stick", for a $7,500 advance and royalties for working on track. Evans asserts that after receiving the advance his requests for a royalties audit have been ignored.
Evans claims that "Magic Stick" was initially set to appear on 50 Cent's debut album, Get Rich or Die Tryin', but instead it appeared on Lil' Kim's 2003 album, La Bella Mafia, which was recorded and distributed by Atlantic Records. The song would go on to sell 2 million copies.
"It was one of the hottest tracks on that album, and I didn't collect my royalties," Evans told the Associated Press Thursday (September 14).
Evans is seeking $1 million in compensatory damages and $1 million in punitive damages from all the parties mentioned in the lawsuit.
Theodore Sedlmayr, a lawyer for Rotten Apple Records told the AP that Evans' royalties were delayed because he used a large sample which had to be paid for and licensed.
"Atlantic is trying to get it straightened out," Sedlmayr explained. "If after the accounting Mr. Evans is entitled to anything, he'll get it then."
A spokeswoman for Atlantic said the company does not comment on pending litigation.

Master P Apologizes To Middle School Students For Earlier Work
Master P visited a Charlotte, North Carolina middle school yesterday (Sept. 13) and apologized to the students for the tone of his earlier work in music.
Master P spoke to students at Monroe Middle School about the importance of education, good financial management and a vision for success. But he also expressed regret at some of the vulgar content of his earlier recordings.
"Y'all know I started off on the wrong track," Miller said. "The most important thing I've done with my life is clean my act up. I'm sorry for making the music that I made without thinking about y'all."
Math teacher Bonnie Mwanda heard that the rapper, whose real name is Percy Miller, would be in Charlotte to promote a book and sent an e-mail asking him to stop by the school.
In closing, Master P promised another reward for students if they had a good year.
"If the principal tells me y'all have a good year," he said to screams and cheers, "I'm going to bring Romeo back to do a concert."
PRINCE LAUNCHES LEGAL CAMPAIGN AGAINST WEB-BASED PIRATES
There's a new sheriff in town, and the digital maverick is on Prince's payroll. The reclusive rock star has hired Web Sheriff, a british-based company that specializes in policing the Web for pirated content, to launch a legal campaign against YouTube, EBay, and The Pirate Bay, companies that he alleges wrongfully profit from the use of his work, according to John Giacobbi, Web Sheriff's president.
The artist plans to file suit in both the United States and the U.K., and has hired a top Swedish law firm to take up his cause against the viral internet hotspots. Prince has chosen a legal course because sites like YouTube and eBay have left him no recourse in protecting his copyright on their sites, according to Giacobbi.
"Prince initially hired Web Sheriff to patrol the Web for illegal uses of his material, and then to send "take-down notices" to sites when they found illegal useage," Giacobbi said. "But sending written notices had little impact. In the past couple of weeks, we have removed about 2,000 infringing clips from YouTube. We get them down and the next day, there are 100 or 200 more. Their business model is built on making money off other people's creative work."
The companies under fire contend that they do their part in acting expediently on illegal useage of copyrighted material and are protected by a safe harbor in the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Hell Rell Talks Jim Jones/50 Cent Connection, "I'd Never Sleep With The Enemy"
Diplomats clean-up man Hell Rell is ready to show the world why he's the next to blow out of his Harlem crew. SOHH recently caught up with the Dips' street enforcer as he broke down the science behind his new disc, For The Hell Of It, and his feelings on Dipset Capo Jim Jones cozying up with Cam'ron's rival 50 Cent.
When Jones appeared alongside 50 Cent on BET's "Rap City" earlier this week, in a show of support and respect for the G-Unit boss, Rell didn't approve.
"However people want to interpret that, they can interpret it that way, but my loyalty lies with Cam and I would never sleep with the enemy," he says. " Jim is an executive, he can do what he wants to do. That don't mean I have to agree with it. But there's no problem between us. We are a movement. It's not based on one artist. We can all function on our own. We're not on the decline, business is just getting much deeper."
Building off the momentum that his Dipset family has undoubtedly set in motion, Hell Rell is ready to step into the forefront with his new album, For The Hell Of It.
"This is a New York street album," Rell said. "That's how I'm doing things, I'm coming with that hardcore, grimy flow. I'm catering to my hardcore fans, they know what I do out here."
The album, which features guest spots from the entire DipSet roster as well as Young Dro and Styles P, will also be followed up with a book by the same name that details the atmosphere and environment that inspired each song on the album.
"Every chapter of the book is a name to a song on my album" Rell explains. "Have you ever wondered what Marvin Gaye was thinking when he made 'What's Going on?' There was a war going on and all of these different things, what was going on in his head? I pretty much wrote out a blueprint of what was going on for each record, where I was, what was happening, my whole thought process. A lot of people might not like certain records, but they'll be able to understand what I was going through on each one."
With several other projects in the works, including a collaborative album with Cam'ron tentatively titled Uptown Boys, and his own label, Top Gunners, Rell is definitely striking while the iron is hot. He also has a few tips for those in the industry who want to be smart and avoid the same fate as MC Hammer.
"You gotta be around young, black entrepreneurs, you have to invest your money," Rell said. "Nobody wants to be on VH1 talking about, 'Where are they now.' You gotta capitalize on lucrative business opportunities and stay focused. I always have more than one means of income."
For The Hell Of It is set to hit stores on September 25 on Koch Records.

Powerful positive push
Look carefully and thoughtfully at the things that frustrate you. In each of them you will find real and workable ideas for positive growth.
Frustration occurs when you realize, sometimes painfully, that things are not working nearly as well as they could be. Follow that realization to its natural conclusion and you will find a clearly marked pathway for improvement.
Great inventions, successful companies and immense fortunes have been built through positive responses to frustration. Indeed, frustration has always been a major catalyst for creating value.
People frustrated with the way things are, can develop insatiable appetites for making the world better. Frustration can get you thinking and acting, building, creating and persevering toward a positive purpose.
Frustration is the feeling of knowing it can be better, and the greater the frustration, the more positive and exciting are the possibilities. When you are feeling frustration, remind yourself what a truly great blessing it can be leading you toward.
When you know without a doubt that things can be better, you've already started the process of improvement. Go ahead, feel the frustration, and let it give you a powerful positive push.

Remy Ma's Murder Charges Dropped To Assault, Rapper Accused Of Tampering W/ A Witness
The Prosecutors who originally blamed Remy Ma for the attempted murder of a friend reportedly dropped the charges to assault in a Manhattan Supreme Court yesterday (September 12), while also adding several new charges in connection with tampering with a witness.
According to the New York Daily News, authorities initially believed that Remy intentionally shot Makeda Barnes-Joseph in July, but new evidence has revealed that the gun may have gone off accidentally. Remy allegedly shot Barnes-Joseph twice in the torso after accusing her of stealing $3,000 out of her purse.
New charges were also handed to the Bronx bred rapper at the hearing, accusing her of assaulting the boyfriend of a possible witness in the case.
According to TMZ, on August 19 Remy apparently saw the boyfriend of a possible witness while at a club in the Bronx. Remy then allegedly had a group of her associates attack him, resulting in the man suffering a black eye and a fractured bone in his face. The man reportedly also had to get a metal plate put in his face and was required hospitalization for a week. A friend of the man was also injured, suffering a broken jaw.
Manhattan District Attorney Spokesman Edison Alban revealed that Remy is now facing charges of gang assault, tampering with a witness, intimidating a victim and third-degree assault as a result of the nightclub incident.
The Associated Press also reported that the judge presiding over Remy's case denied prosecutors' requests and ordered yesterday that the rapper would not have to post additional bail in light of her new assault charges.
The case has not gone in front of a grand jury as of yet due to slow progress in the investigation.
Remy's lawyer, Ira Fisher, has said that his client has pleaded not guilty to all charges. She is scheduled to be back in court on September 20.
Diddy Asked to Hand Over Pictures of Jewelry
Sean “Diddy” Combs is being asked to produce photographs of rings he was wearing on the night of an alleged assault at the Roosevelt Hotel in Hollywood.
According to CBS News, the request was made in court papers filed on Monday (September 10) by Michael M. Marzban, attorney for alleged victim Gerald Rechnitzer. In March, Rechnitzer filed suit against Diddy seeking an unspecified amount of damages after claiming that the Bad Boy head punched him in the jaw during a dispute at the hotel following an Oscar Awards after party.
Marzban believes the photos will help match Diddy’s jewelry with his client’s injuries. “Needless to say, Combs does not wear simple rings,” Marzban writes in the motion. “The rings he wore when he struck [Rechnitzer] are important and critical to the bio-mechanics of this case.” Marzban is also requesting documents he says will prove Diddy was at the Roosevelt that night and how much alcohol he consumed. The motion additionally seeks information about the mogul’s security detail on the night in question.
According to Marzban, Diddy has failed to fulfill prior requests for this information due to his globe trotting lifestyle. “After several conversations with [Combs’] attorney, it became apparent to me that [Combs’] constant partying both in the United States and abroad took priority…,” the attorney wrote in the motion. In July, L.A. police declined to charge Diddy citing a lack of evidence.
Eminem Says His New Album Is "In Limbo"
Eminem called up the Angie Martinez show on Hot 97 this afternoon (Sept. 12) to congratulate 50 Cent on the release of his new album "Curtis".
When the subject of a new album came up, Eminem said the project was "in limbo" and that he was "debating" whether or not to ever release another album.
"I'm always working, I'm always in the studio. It feels good right now, the energy of the label. For a while, I don't wanna go back to the negative stuff. ... Going through some personal things, coming out of those personal things, it feels good."
Eminem went on to say that he is in the studio everyday working on projects for his Shady Records label.
While the longstanding feud between 50 Cent and Nas has been dormant for the past year, Fif takes some unexpected shots at God’s Son in an interview with the LA Times.
“Hip-Hop ain’t dead. That’s just coming from an artist that’s dead.” Fifty said in response to Nas’ hip-hop is dead mantra. “Hip-Hop being what it was in his era - the 2Pac/Nas/Biggie/Jay-Z era - is dead. Right now [fans] don’t want to hear that nonsense.”
50 then went on to say, “Those guys that flood their music with too much intellectual information don’t sell. You could be so creative that you just got a smock and a French accent!”
This criticism is in the same vein as a previous one, in which 50 said "Nas is a really smart guy. He reads books constantly. We were around him on the Nastradamus tour. He was almost weirder than me 'cause we would go to breakfast and he'd be there reading a book. Conceptually, I think that's what made him drift away from what his initial audience enjoys from him and why he's not hot right now."
Uncle Luke, the one-time member of the 2 Live Crew, called Kanye West a “woman” during an interview on the Dan Le Batard Show on South Florida’s radio show, Sports Talk 790 am The Ticket.
Luther Campbell continued to say, “See, MTV and all those award shows, they’ll tell you where you going to be performing at. They’ll automatically let you know, your publicist know, then they say, ‘Look, you’re going to be performing in the back room. You’re going to be performing outside with all the other garbage acts.’ So you make the decision whether or not you wanna go then. You don’t wait until you get to the award show and then see fat Brittany [Spears] out there doing her thing, garbaging up the stage, and then get mad that you should be out there headlining the show.”

You are over it
You may have wasted the entire day, week or month up to this point. Yet that's no reason to continue with the unproductive, negative pattern.
No matter what has gone on before, you can make the most of right now. Any prior ineffectiveness cannot stop you from being truly and purposefully effective in this moment.
You may have made a lot of mistakes and errors in judgment on your way to where you are. But that has nothing to do with where you can choose to go from here.
Don't worry about getting over the past. You are over it because you are here right now.
Right now, your best dreams beckon. Right now, there is plenty that you can do.
Can you feel the incredible freedom and opportunity that this moment represents? Take hold of that freedom, seize this precious, promising moment and live the life you are meant to live.

"To be honest the process of selling this record hasn't been fun," 50 Cent said. "I'm happy with the performance, but I'm not happy with the set up. We had conference calls and after we created this plan, nobody actually had a plan."
According to estimates, Kanye's "Graduation" album is on track to sell 700,000 copies during its first week in stores while 50's "Curtis" is expected to come in at #2 with over 500,000 copies sold.
"Hypothetically, if I came in under Kanye West, I would release a new album every time Def Jam had a priority. I would release a record verses every one of their top priorities," 50 Cent said.
50 went on to say that he was done with Interscope following the release of his next album.
"It was the label," 50 Cent said. "Their dropping the ball all over the place. I'll release my next album and then I'm a free agent."
Kanye West To Perform At The Emmy Awards; Sells Over 400,000 Copies of "Graduation" During First Day of Release
Representatives for both parties refused to give further details on the scheduled performance.
In other Kanye West news, Billboard is reporting that Kanye West sold over 430,000 copies of his new album "Graduation" during its first day in stores. His sales rival 50 Cent moved just over 300,000 copies.
The one day total indicates that Kanye West will debut at #1 next week with around 700,000 of his new album "Graduation" sold.
Kanye West Tops 50 Cent In First Week Sales Projections
The plot thickens once again, as early sales projections are reportedly putting Kanye West's Graduation sales slightly ahead of 50 Cent's Curtis first-week numbers.
According to Billboard, executives with three major record labels, whose job duties include projecting first week scans based on early store sales reports, are projecting that Graduation could tally up sales in the 575,000-700,000 range, while Curtis is being projected to come in at the 500,000-600,000 range. While these figures are merely estimates of what each album will sell, the actual finalized sales statistics will be computed on Sunday at midnight when the Nielsen SoundScan week officially ends.
The early sales predictions seem to be in accordance with the data that SOHH collected during a poll which asked fans which artists' album they would buy when they were officially released as well as who they thought would come out on top after first week sales had been finalized.
According to our poll, offered directly after both albums had found their way to the internet, 57% of respondents have heard both albums and 52% believed Kanye will have the higher first-week sales.
In a previous survey taken last month before the leaks, the fans were also betting on Kanye to pull it out, with 51% of respondents saying that Kanye would outsell 50 Cent in their first week.
The two mega-stars both appeared on BET's "106 And Park" yesterday (September 11) to promote their respective albums. While Kanye won the battle of the surprise guests, bringing Jay-Z out on stage with him after his performance, both premiered new videos - with 50 showing off his clip for his Robin Thicke collaboration "Follow My Lead" and Ye revealing his visual interpretation of his T-Pain collaboration, "The Good Life."
Rock star Tommy Lee posted a message on his official Web site explaining his scuffle with Kid Rock during MTV's Video Music Awards, and apologizing to Alicia Keys for the incident taking place during her performance.
The two ex-husbands of Pamela Anderson started scrapping after Lee had reportedly spent the earlier part of the evening antagonizing Rock, whose real name is Robert James Ritchie.
As Keys was belting her rendition of George Michael's Freedom, Rock reportedly sucker-punched Lee to spark the fight. The two were pulled apart by security before any more punches were thrown and Rock later received a citation for misdemeanor battery, which could come with a jail sentence of up to six months.
Here's Lee's account of the incident from his Web site:
Yeah!! ..here I am minding my own biz having a great time with my friend Criss Angel (magician) and watching the MTV awards in the front row saying hello to all my friends, Pamela comes and sits on my lap who I love and adore.and also say hello to my friend Travis Barker and his wife!..and i get a text from another friend P. Diddy and he says come sit with me..and he's sitting with Miss HOT Megan FOX so I go over and sit with P! Not a minute later and Alicia Keys starts her amazing performance.(I apologize sweetie..I had nothing to do with the timing and disrespect)back to the stupid-ness!!.so.. I get a tap on the shoulder from Kid PebbleI stand up and embrace him with a semi hug and say "Hey dude What up"?? He punches me in the face..well if ya wanna call it that!?.more like a bitch slap!!!.Wuss!! Anyway.i go to knock this jealous country bumpkin the f$%k OUT.and before I can have a meeting with my fist and his ugly ass mug .security guards grab me and haul my ass outta the award show! So Im fine and of course leave to my room with police and owner of the Palm's George Maloof the rest is paper work and bullshit!Anyway I would like to apologize to Alicia and George and MTV for the disrespectful bullshit caused by a piece of shit called Kid Pebble!!
Much Love always!!..Tommy!!
50 Cent On The Verge Of Quitting
Debuting a new album, rapper 50 Cent played the Hippodrome Tuesday night in Springfield, Massachusetts. 50s first appearance at the venue in 2004 ended in a brawl which left 3 females injured and others rolled out in stretchers.
The actual release of this record wasnt pleasant for meThe performance of it, has me in a space where Im still comfortable saying Im number 1.
I dont feel burnt out, I just feel like I dont wanna do it anymore, thats the first time Ive ever told people publicly, but Ive been feeling this way for a long time.
KANYE SAYS HE AND BRIT WERE EXPLOITED BY MTV
On Monday, Kanye West did some last minute radio interviews to plug his new album, Graduation, which was finally released yesterday following months of hype and anticipation.
But talk inevitably turned toward Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards and West's frustration with producers for choosing Britney Spears to open the show when she is obviously troubled and hasnt had a hit in years. Her performance turned out to be disastrous on every level.
"They exploited Britney in helping to end her career," West told radio host JJ at New York's Z100 Monday. "When Britney was opening [the VMA telecast], near the end, I felt so bad for her. I said, 'Man, it's a dirty game. This game will chew you up and spit you out.'"
In addition to his hissy fit over losing all five of the categories for which he was nominated, West also felt that his VMA performances should have been on the main stage, and not from a private suite where many artists performed for small groups of fans throughout the telecast.
"I wasn't mad that I just didn't win any awards," West says. "For me, [MTV] made it seem like performing on the main stage was a bad thing, and the suites were just so great. It was my dream when I made 'Stronger' to open up the VMAs with a real power performance.
"And I just feel like I got betrayed by them," the rapper continues. "I feel like they tried to make it seem like I was so into everything that was going on in the show."
Not surprisingly MTV is telling a different story. A source connected to the awards show told TMZ that Kanye was offered the main stage, but opted for the suite, claiming he wanted to "feel the excitement and energy" of a smaller venue, rather than people just sitting there at tables. In addition, Kanye's "Stronger" performance was pre-taped Friday night -- to give it a "night" look -- as the actual show went live Sunday night at 6:00 PM, while there was still daylight in Vegas. According to TMZ, Kanye "loved" his act and expressed that to the MTV execs who were all there.
West is also irate over the intro to his performance by Pamela Anderson, who starred in his music video for "Touch the Sky." Before West performed "Good Life" from his suite, the former Baywatch star told viewers: "One of the best times I've ever had was making out with the next performer in the middle of the desert. I think I had my tongue so far down his throat I could taste his fiance and I might need a repeat performance later tonight."
"I'm engaged and I feel like it's disrespectful to my relationship," West says of Anderson's remarks, which he claims the network assured him would not happen.
Even though Foxy Brown is currently incarcerated in Rikers Island prison for one year after violating her probation, that isnt stopping her from releasing her new album, Brooklyns Don Diva, on November 20.
The LP will be released through KOCH Record/Black Hand Entertainment and will feature the lead single, Dont Surrender, which features Graf. This is just a temporary situation, Foxy said in a statement. I made my bed and have no problem lying in it. My will is steady. What doesnt kill me will only make me stronger. I think there are greater injustices in America that require our immediate attention, like whats going on in Jena, Louisiana. I will not surrender. Im fine. Free Jena 6! In addition, Chaz Williams, Foxys manager, released a statement denying the rumors the Brooklyn diva is pregnant.
I visited Foxy at Rikers the day after sentencing and her spirits were high, Williams said. I expected nothing less. I was in court at sentencing and she didnt blink an eye. Shes a strong girl. So Im sorry Miss Jackson, were not impressed, and definitely not stopping musically. Brooklyns Don Diva will be released as scheduled and will be heavily promoted by her label, her distributors, and the Black Hand team. And to the pregnancy rumors, this is the official statement: She is not pregnant!
Ja Rule recently spoke out about the upcoming U.S. Congressional hearing set to discuss the lyrical content and imagery of African-American women in hip-hop.
As previously reported, the aforementioned hearing entitled "From Imus to Industry: The Business of Stereotypes and Degradation" will take place on September 25 and will investigate media "stereotypes and degradation" of black women in hip-hop and the entertainment industry.
Top industry executives including Philippe Dauman of Viacom, Doug Morris of Universal Music Group, Edgar Bronfman, Jr. of Warner Music Group and music mogul Master P are expected to appear as witnesses in the hearing.
In a recent interview with Complex magazine, Ja Rule offered his objections to the hearings.
"They got my man Doug Morris under fire and @#!*, they got him going down to go speak to Congress about hip-hop lyrics, are you @#*$ing serious?" Ja said. "There's a f--king black kid right now about to get 25 years for having a fight with some white kids over hanging the nooses over the white tree, let's get to that. Let's get into sh-t like that, because that's what's tearing up America, not me calling a woman a b--ch or a h-e on my rap songs."
"And if it is, then we need to go step to Paramount, and f--king MGM, and all of these other motherf--kers that's making all of these movies and we need to go step to MTV and Viacom, and lets talk about all these f--king shows that they have on MTV that is promoting homosexuality, that my kids can't watch this sh-t," he continued. "Dating shows that's showing two guys or two girls in mid-afternoon. Let's talk about s--t like that! If that's not f--king up America, I don't know what is."
"There's a lot of issues we can address besides hip-hop, but they want to put everything on us like we're the problem," Ja added. "This is going to be a shameless f--king plug, but I said, 'when everyone wants to point the finger, and ask why there's so much corruption, they only need to look in the mirror.' It starts with themselves."
Ja will be releasing his seventh solo album The Mirror in November via Mpire/Murder Inc. /Universal Motown Records. The album features guest appearances from Lil Wayne and The Game with production supplied by the Top Dawg team.

Diddy Does It Again, New Cologne Ad Too Raunchy For TV
MTV has reportedly refused to air a new commercial for Sean "Diddy" Combs' cologne, Unforgivable, because of its raunchy content.
According to The New York Post, the commercial shows Diddy and model Jessica Gomez "going at it" in a stairwell and a hotel room. Two other different scenes of the ad show the Bad Boy founder putting his hand under Gomez's dress and a woman holding Gomez's breast and pulling down her underwear.
MTV has sent a list of edits for Diddy to make for the commercial to air but the mogul has reportedly refused to make changes.
This marks the second time an advertisement for the Unforgivable fragrance has caused a stir. Last year, department stores refused to put out an Unforgivable print showing Diddy lying in bed with two women, hinting at a mnage a trois.
The cologne won the "Men's Fragrance of the Year" at the Fragrance Foundation (Fifi) Awards earlier this year, making Diddy the second African-American after Michael Jordan to win a Fifi award.
Reggaeton Acts Take On Police Brutality In Puerto Rico
A little over a week after August's killing of an unarmed father of two in Puerto Rico by police, several Puerto Rican acts duo Calle 13 has released a new track criticizing the violence of the law enforcement at fault.
According to the New York Daily News, the duo Calle 13 has recently dropped a track called "Tributo a la Polica" that refers to the brutality of the August 10 shooting of Miguel Cceres, which was videotaped by a bystander, but also to the killings and beatings of other unarmed civilians over the last decades.
"I wanted to leave a testimony about the killing of all these people," Calle 13's Ren (Residente) Prez told the paper. "I wanted the song to be part of the case files."
Others doing the same include Julio Voltio, who has a new song called "En lo Claro," a song about police abuse from his latest CD of the same title.
Calle 13's new song is their second time releasing protest type music. In 2005, their "Querido FBI" single protested the killing of Filiberto Ojeda Ros, a Puerto Rican nationalist. This time around, Residente was also inspired by the beating death of a childhood friend at the hands of the police.
According to the NY Daily News, Calle 13 has given away 2,000 copies of "Tributo" in the streets, and allows it for free download on their MySpace page, which received over 100,000 downloads in the first week.
The duo says they recognize that songs about Cacere have an influence on the youth, especially since rap in Spanish is becoming the genre of choice for young, politically engaged musicians.
"I just want to bring people in Puerto Rico closer together," Residente said, "so that when things like [the Cceres killing] happen, people in Puerto Rico rise up. The idea is to create such a dynamic that when people are wronged, they fight back."

BET Addresses the Current State of Hip-Hop in New Series, Hip-Hop vs. America
For the past year, the hip-hop culture has been under attack. From the Don Imus controversy to Rev. Al Sharpton protesting derogatory and violent lyrics, 2007 has been a year to forget for hip-hop.
BET News will address the current state of hip-hop in a new three-part series entitled Hip-Hop vs. America. Hosted by BET’s Toure and Jeff Johnson, the series will tackle issues such as hip-hop’s relationship with criminality and the streets, snitching, police brutality and images of Black woman. “The battle over hip-hop lyrics, images and values is the flashpoint of conflict and debate between almost every division within our community — between men and woman, younger and older generations, between economic classes and educational backgrounds,” says Reginald Hudlin, President of Entertainment, BET. “Our special relationships with the most important thinkers, icons and leaders in our community allow BET to deliver the most complete exploration of this topic on television. This is the first of many town halls that BET will convene to address the most pressing issues facing our community.”

CHRIS BROWN GETS CANDID IN GIANT MAGAZINE
You saw his show-stopping performance at Sunday's MTV Video Music Awards. Now, get up close and personal with singer Chris Brown through a candid interview in Giant Magazine.
The artist, who graces the publication's Sept. 2007 cover, opens up about childhood family drama, his early crush on Ciara, his desire to fill Michael Jackson's shoes and the pressure to stay on top.
Below are excerpts from Laura Checkoway's exclusive conversation with Brown, entitled: "Most Likely to Succeed."
- ON HIS ABUSIVE STEPFATHER "(I told my mother) 'I just want you to know that I love you, but I'm gonna take a baseball bat one day while you are at work, and I'm gonna kill him.' He used to hit my mom...He made me terrified all the time, terrified like I had to pee on myself. I remember one night he made her nose bleed. I was crying and thinking, 'I'm just gonna go crazy on him one day...' I hate him to this day."
- ON HIS CRUSH ON CIARA "When Ciara came out, I looooved her. This was before her and Bow Wow and before anybody knew me at all. I met her at a show and was just really intrigued. I remember talking to her like, 'Yo, I'm attracted to you and all that.' But I was too young for her. I didn't get the time of day!"
- ON THE PRESSURES OF SUCCESS "With a second album, there's a lot of pressure to maintain status. It's like if you're popular in high school, you gotta keep it up - keep the fresh gear on, keep saying the right things. The whole music industry is like high school. I guess prom was the Grammys."
- ON MICHAEL JACKSON "Michael Jackson sold twenty-five million albums, so I wanna get to at least twelve. Michael (Jackson) said to me, 'being able to dance and sing; that's rare. Nobody can do it - only you, me and a couple of others. Keep working and dream big.' Michael Jackson told me to dream big!"
Ludacris Show Cancelled Due To Lack of Ticket Sales
An up-coming Ludacris show in Boston has been cancelled due to lack of ticket sales.
According to the Boston Herald, the concert that was scheduled to be held on September 30, was cancelled by the Eastern States Exposition reportedly due to a lack of interest and poor ticket sales. Exposition president Wayne McCary said fewer than 700 tickets had been sold for the arena that was to hold the performance, an arena that seats 6,100 people.
As a stipulation for the concert, local officials said the rapper would have to keep his act profanity free. The West Springfield licensing commission also ordered that all concert-goers be screened by a hand-held metal detector and that no beer be served in the arena.
Refunds will be issued to those who already bought tickets for the performance.

TYLER PERRY LAUNCHES INTERNET TV CHANNEL

Titled TPTV, the Narrowstep-powered 24-hour channel will be available through his Web site www.tylerperry.com and offer exclusive access to the forthcoming "Tyler Perry Show."
"Part of being an artist is learning how to engage and empower my audience--my fans--with my art," said Perry. "My art is an extension of my life. I knew I wanted to create, tailor and build an Internet TV channel as a part of that extension.
Narrowstep and the William Morris Agency, which represents Perry, are working together to develop broadband-based celebrity TV channels for the agency's clients that will offer fans hours of high-quality original content and the best viewing experience available of their favorite celebrities on the Internet.
A little higher
There will be days so dreadful that you may regret ever getting out of bed, and there will be days so beautiful that you'll wish they would never end. You can make something good and valuable out of all of them.
Some people you meet will make you instantly feel that you've known them for years. Others you meet may make you want to get as far away from them as quickly as you can.
All kinds of people are equally worthy of your kindness, respect and consideration, and have their own valuable gifts to offer. Remind yourself often of that.
There will be stretches of time when you'll feel you can't get anything right, and there will be periods when everything you touch seems to turn to gold. Don't allow either extreme to get the best of you or to compromise your precious integrity.
You'll experience times of boundless joy, and moments of overwhelming frustration. You'll discover places of extraordinary beauty, and regions of terrifying ugliness.
Through it all, remember that whatever you may encounter is virtually insignificant when compared with what you choose to do with it. Always choose the best response, no matter what comes your way, and each day you'll rise a little higher than you were the day before.

Rihanna, Justin Timberlake Top Winners At '07 MTV VMAs
The big winners at Sunday night's (September 9) 2007 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), held at Las Vegas' Palms Casino Resort, were Rihanna and Justin Timberlake.
The two superstar singers took home two awards each -- Rihanna in the Video of the Year and Monster Single of Year categories for her smash hit, "Umbrella," featuring Jay-Z, and Justin Timberlake in the Quadruple Threat and Male Artist of the Year categories.
In addition to Timberlake's two trophies, two other of his video won awards as well. Samuel Bayer nabbed Best Director for "What Goes Around ... Comes Around" and Marty Kudelka won Best Choreography for "Let Me Talk to You / My Love."
Despite getting major love from MTV, Timberlake said some challenging comments to the network, while accepting his awards. "I want to challenge MTV right now to play more videos," Timberlake said, then later bashed the Jessica and Ashlee Simpson-themed reality shows.
Other winners of the night included Beyonce, who took home the Earth-Shattering Collaboration trophy for "Beautiful Liar," which features Shakira; and Fergie, who won Female Artist of the Year, but was a no-show to accept it.
In addition to the awards given out sparsely throughout the ceremony, the VMAs featured several performances throughout.
Timbaland, who served as the show's "maestro," introduced Linkin Park's laser-enhanced version of "Bleed It Out," while Alicia Keys unveiled her new single, "No One," which morphed into a cover of George Michael's "Freedom."

50 Cent Concert Cut Short, Stage Almost Collapses
50 Cent reportedly had to cut a Las Vegas concert short on Saturday (September 8) because of a collapsing stage.
According to The Las Vegas Review Journal, 50 was performing on a stage over the Hard Rock Hotel pool which was surrounded by electrical equipment and the audience was pushing hard against the stage nearly bringing the front end down into the water.
50 and his entourage teld the crowd to move back and get out the pool, but the requests fell on def ears. The G-Unit honcho and his associates then rushed off stage. Hard Rock staff and crew members immediately broke down the stage and shut off electricity.
Prior to cutting his performance short, 50 was joined on stage by Ludacris and boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. No injuries were reported.
Escobar season is Returning....
Nas says he's definitely coming out with a brand-new album this year. It's '07, "The God Year," according to the legendary MC, so there's no better time to release new material — even if he's still reveling in how he ended last year.
"I celebrated having another #1 album in the country," he said of his last LP, Hip Hop Is Dead. "I was on the Virgin Islands on New Year's Day, I got the news I had another #1 album. I think I made some heads turn. I did my thing: no radio. Not much radio spins. Now I wanna have fun with the radio. I'll still try to reach for a higher ground and come sometime in December.
"I'm really into [the idea of having] a summer album," he added. "But they say the fourth quarter is for big dogs. I been doing the fourth quarter for years, so I guess I'm at home in the fourth."
Esco is already halfway done with the project, and he expects to have the first music from the album hit in October. The collaborations with Will.I.Am that he previously told Mixtape Monday about have been scrapped.
"Nah," he said when asked whether those records would be making the cut. "Some landed on other people's albums. It wasn't time for that type of sh--, so I let 'em go. But Will's a genius. I worked with new producers, but I'm sure me and Will gonna holla again."
You're probably wondering about his answer to the requisite "Is DJ Premier going to be working on the album?" question. Well, as for Primo's involvement, Nas gave a mysterious "who knows?" The powerful poet wasn't any more forthcoming about the title for his next one, but he did say to expect something "powerful and provocative."
"I can't reveal it yet," he said. "But if you remember, the original name for Hip Hop Is Dead was N---a. It was ahead of its time. [When the news leaked,] Def Jam immediately went out there and said I was being facetious. But that was the name of my album. I don't be out there with everybody. But I want them to know I'm heavily involved. That's why I do the titles I do. Hip Hop Is Dead was a great substitute. It was perfect timing for that joint."
Timing was not on his side for the would-be Hip Hop Is Dead singles and videos "Hustlers" (featuring Game) and "Black Republican" with Jay-Z.
"Yeah, man, I like to just put it out there that we shot a video for 'Hustlers,' " Nas explained. "These guys still got the video, actually. The guy who shot the video, [R.] Malcolm Jones, is a different type of cat, man. I don't know what's going on with it, but they took too long. They been needing time. Then Spike Lee was set to [direct] 'Black Republican,' but me and Spike couldn't come up with the perfect idea, so we let it ride as one of them tracks that was just there. [Hip Hop Is Dead] to me was gonna be shot like Thriller. But sometimes I feel like I don't wanna do that. I don't wanna hog up the radio waves, hog up the video waves. I let everybody else eat, 'cause I'm eating. Been eating for so many years. I ain't hogging it up. That's basically it."
However, he might go hog-wild (no pork on his fork, though) for the new album.
"I gotta hog it up," he said of his new outlook. "People think [the videos] didn't happen 'cause it couldn't happen, and that's f---ed up 'cause I leave a lot of my listeners out there and they be fighting for me. I don't wanna feel like I'm leaving them out there. Just 'cause I'm in the cut, I don't want them to feel like I don't give a f---. Everybody else is doing as many videos as they want to. When it came to me, I was cool with it. I have a lot of real n---as out here that's behind me and f--- with me. I'm so in love with them real n---as, I don't see nobody else. But I need to push my sh--. It's important. It's the norm."
Sony will release a Nas yet-untitled greatest-hits LP in November, before the new studio LP drops. It will feature a couple of new records, including his collaboration with Cee-Lo.
Jim Jones Can't Find Cam'Ron, Talks G Unit Rumors
The industry was abuzz last week after rumors of Dipset’s Jim Jones’ signing to G Unit started spreading like wildfire, however, according to Jimmy, they were exactly that—rumors.
“People love the controversy, people like to hear more than what it is,” Jim tells MTV. “They automatically think if I’m next to him, somebody with his power and money and what he represents, that he’s automatically trying to pull the wool over somebody’s eyes and sign me. But we have a mutual respect and understanding for one another. I respect his hustle because he came in this game and in a few years changed the whole game and grossed more money than anybody else. With the hustle I’m on and the grind I’m on, it goes both ways. I went up to BET to chop it up with him.”
Jim again reiterated that he’s never had beef with 50.
“Who knows, in the future, you might see some Jimmy and 50 songs,” he said. “Everybody else do it. I keep looking at the game and hear everybody beefing, but ain’t nobody die yet. I think it’s all a publicity stunt.
I’mma go get my money because nobody wants beef. Where I’m from, you start beef when niggas start dying and the only person that died was my man Stack Bundles, God rest his soul. That was due to real circumstances we go through every day when you coming up on the streets. That’s a fucked-up situation to even have to mention. The game is bullshit, so I rather go get my money.”
While the Dipset Capo is prepping for the release of the Byrd Gang album coming in November, he says he hasn’t heard from his longtime friend and Dipset Frontman, Cam’ron in ages.
“Finding Cam’s like finding Nemo,” he laughed. “When you see him, tell him I’m looking for him. Smell me?”
T.I., Ne-Yo, Rev. Run Honored At BMI's '07 Urban Awards
BMI held their Urban Awards ceremony in Las Vegas on Friday (September 7), honoring the likes of T.I., Ne-Yo, Mr. Collipark and Pharrell Williams among others.
The ceremony, held at the Zumanity Theatre at New York-New York Hotel and Casino, attracted some of music's biggest stars in town for MTV's Video Music Awards.
Some of the nights honorees included T.I., Ne-Yo and Mr. ColliPark who each earned Songwriter of the Year titles. They each composed four songs on BMI's most-performed list. T.I. co-wrote hits "My Love" and "What You Know," along with Lil' C's "Shoulder Lean" and Nelly's "Grillz"; Ne-Yo co-penned Beyoncé's "Irreplaceable" and his own "Sexy Love," "So Sick" and "When You're Mad"; and producer Mr. ColliPark co-wrote the Ying Yang Twins' "Badd," Diddy's "Come to Me," Bubba Sparxxx's "Ms. New Booty" and David Banner's "Play."
"Check On It" secured Song of the Year honors for co-writers Slim Thug and Sean Garrett, and a special presentation officially recognized legendary MC, Joseph "Rev Run" Simmons of Run DMC, as the newest BMI Icon.
As one third of Run-DMC, Rev Run helped change the sound of rap by simultaneously being more street and rock & roll than his contemporaries. From the classic single "Sucker MCs" (1983) to their standard-setting discs Run-DMC, King of Rock, Raising Hell and Tougher Than Leather, Run-DMC helped take hip-hop, and music in general, to a whole new level. They stayed at the top of the pop charts for most of the 80s and knocked open the doors to commercial freedom for the hip-hop generation.
The night's other big winners included Pharrell Williams, who earned the Producer of the Year title; EMI Music Publishing, named Urban Publisher of the Year; and T-Pain's "I'm N Luv (Wit A Stripper)," which nabbed the BMI Urban Ringtone Award. Executives from music trade magazine Billboard were also on hand to give out No. 1 Awards to the BMI songs that reached the top spot on its urban music charts during the past year.
In addition to the BMI awards, Billboard was on hand to recognize the BMI-affiliated writers whose songs reached no. 1 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot Rap Tracks, Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay and Hot 100 charts during the past year.
