Evel Knievel dies at 69

Evel Knievel, the Stuntman imitateded by Kanye West in his "Touch the Sky" video died Friday. He was 69.

Knievel was once a motorcycle daredevil whose jumps over crazy obstacles including Greyhound buses, live sharks and Idaho's Snake River Canyon made him an international icon in the 1970s.

Longtime friend and promoter Billy Rundle said Knievel had trouble breathing at his Clearwater condominium and died before an ambulance could get him to a hospital.

Knievel's death was confirmed by his granddaughter, Krysten Knievel. He had been in failing health for years, suffering from diabetes and pulmonary fibrosis, an incurable condition that scarred his lungs.

NY Magazine Interviews Former Jay-Z Associate De-Haven

In a new interview with New York Magazine, former Jay-Z associate DeHaven tells some revealing stories about coming up with Jay-Z. While Dehaven alluded to having dirt on Jay in his series of “Jay-Z Exposed” YouTube clips, he failed to go into much detail. Since then, Jay addressed him on the American Gangster track “No Hook,” where he says:

““Fuck De-Haven for cavin’, that’s why we don’t speak/
Made men ain’t supposed to make statements/
End of the story,
I followed the code, cracked the safe/
Other niggas ain’t in the game so they practice hate.”

Now, as DeHaven prepares to release a book and a DVD about the controversey, he spoke to New York writer Ben Westoff about growing up with Jay, and how he feels about being mentioned in his songs:

Did you and Jay sell drugs together?
No, he ain’t do much selling drugs. I did all that work. He was just a good dude to be around. He was one of my best friends. I taught him some things, but I mainly kept him from being out on the street a lot. Whatever was mine was his. So, we shared clothes, we shared a whole bunch of stuff. We had sex with the same women plenty of times. We both got burnt! We had the drip. My mom took him to the clinic. My mom also got him out of jail.

Does Jay exaggerate his drug-dealing in his songs?
I’m telling you he overexaggerates. He was there to see things, but doing some big-time Frank Lucas–type thing? No. He nickled and dimed, but nothing on a major scale. He definitely didn’t sell nothin’ in Marcy. Spanish Jose, who he mentions a lot [in his songs], was a friend of mine. Jay didn’t have no affiliation to Spanish Jose.

When he talks about you on “No Hook,” is he accusing you of snitching?
I think he’s talking about the way I went about this YouTube project [and not about snitching]. But he’s into subliminal messages, so [I think] he’s trying to get me hurt. That goes beyond disrespect. He’s getting my safety involved. I can’t believe my own daughter’s godfather is trying to get me hurt. But it won’t work. Being that I’ve been in prison a lot of times, a lot of people know my credibility. They know I went all the way to trial with my federal case, and I won.

(L note:I think De-haven is right, I dont think Hov meant "Statements" like talking to the feds, I think he meant Statements, Like the dry snitching, Like what De-haven is doing now. Snitching is Snitching, and Made men dont snitch. period. Well atleast thats my take on it.)

Akon To Face Charges In Fan Tossing Incident

Crooner Akon has been officially charged in the highly publicized fan-tossing incident that took place in the summer in New York, after the fan said she suffered a concussion when the boy who was tossed off the stage by the singer landed on her.

According to the Associated Press, Akon is scheduled to appear in Fishkill Town Court on Monday morning (December 3) to be arraigned on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor, and second-degree harassment.

The singer was caught on video back in June where he was seen tossing a fan off the stage into the crowd wile he performed at the Annual KFEST concert at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill, New York.

At the time of the incident, police were supposedly investigating the incident, but his attorney maintained that there was nothing illegal about what took place.

"Given the information that we have reviewed to date, it does not appear to us that Akon was involved in any criminal conduct whatsoever," Akon's attorney, Benjamin Brafman, said in a statement in June. "We are prepared to fully cooperate with any law enforcement agency that may be investigating this incident. We are confident that after a thorough investigation it will be apparent that no criminal prosecution of Akon is warranted."

During the video footage, a small object was tossed toward the singer, which prompted him to say, "Oh, wait a minute. What was that?" He then urged the crowd to "point him out, point him out. Who is he?"

Once the crowd identified the alleged culprit, Akon is seen telling a security guard to "go get him," followed by a 15-year-old being picked up by security and sent him up to the stage, where Akon hoisted him onto his shoulders and flung him into the crowd.

The AP reports that the boy landed on Abby Rosa, who told the Poughkeepsie Journal she was later found to have a concussion. She said she has hired a lawyer and spoken to Fishkill police.

The Fishkill incident wasn't the first concert trouble Akon got into this year. In April, Akon drew widespread criticism for performing on-stage simulated sex with a 14-year-old girl at a concert in Trinidad.

Although he later apologized, stating he had no idea the girl was underage, Verizon withdraw its sponsorship of Akon's tour with Gwen Stefani.

Iran Cracks Down On "Obscene" Rap Music

According to the state IRNA news agency, Iran is cracking down on the production of "obscene" Rap Music.

The AFP reports that the official for evaluation of music at the Culture and Islamic Guidance Ministry, Mohammad Dashtgoli is spearheading the campaign.

"There is nothing wrong with this type of music in itself..." says Dashtgoli. "But due to the use of obscene words by its singers this music has been categorised as illegal. In coordination with the police, illegal studios producing this type of music will be sealed and the singers in this genre will be confronted."

Dashtgoli says a large number of rappers have already been identified and the country sees the music as a "cultural invasion" by "decadent" western music which they believe diminishes Islamic values.

Rap music has become increasingly popular in Iran even though Rap and Hip-Hop culture are very underground in the region due to its perceived "obscene" and degrading nature.

Lil Kim Returns With Ms. G.O.A.T. Mixtape

Since being released from a federal penitentiary in July 2006, Brooklyn rapper Lil Kim has yet to release any music, aside from a few leaked songs.

According to a report from MTV, she will finally be breaking her silence with her very first mixtape Ms. G.O.A.T., a collaborative effort with Mister Cee and DJ Whoo Kid that will be released in the coming weeks. “I always wanted to do a mixtape,” Kim told MTV while recording a remake of the Lady of Rage’s “Afro Puffs.” “I used to see how 50 used to do it so hard. And I was a big fan of 50 when he first started putting out his mixtapes, and I’m still a fan. I seen his growth. But it all started with the mixtape. He caught my ear. It was a great movement. I said ‘Damn, it’s not a lot of girls doing it …’”

The mixtape will reportedly feature her remix of Britney Spears’ “Gimme More,” the recently leaked track “Chillin’ Tonight,” and a freestyle over “I Get Money” where she disses Remy Ma.

In related news, MTV also reports that Kim hopes to release a new album as early as February 2008. She has left Atlantic Records and should be shortly signing a new independent deal.

”We’re in the middle of wrapping up the last bit of paperwork, and yeah, I’ll be in charge of my own masters, my own career,” she explained to MTV. “I had a great run [at Atlantic]…We had a great history. But I came to a point where I felt it was time for me to do the independent thing and move on and take control of my own career. Thanks to Atlantic. They’re letting me"

Freeway Settles Just Blaze Beef

Making his return to the charts after a 4 year hiatus, Philadelphia's Freeway is finally on his way with his sophomore LP, "Free At Last."

Freeway's debut LP, "Philadelphia Freeway," was heavily produced by Roc-A-Fella affiliate, Just Blaze. Since then however, the two have had a falling out due to miscommunication. Freeway even went as far as mentioning the producer on a track released in October, 2007.

“Things just ain’t the same for gangstas/But I don’t give a fuck, I’m back without a Just track/Tried to reach out and work but he ain’t chirp back/But I don’t care, I’m here nigga, the beard bigger/Flow strong, the clip long, I air niggas/Lay ‘em down flat, stay around straps.” Rapped Freeway on "It's Over."

The verse prompted Just Blaze to respond over one of his many blogs.

“This isn’t good… not in terms of me, I don’t care personally… I mean some of these things rappers have said about me when they think I’m not around or don’t know who I know are pretty crazy/Funny, so I don’t really mind when someone addresses me directly but.. see, here’s the thing… at some point, someone in the press is going to ask me about this new song… and I’m going to have to tell them what the line(s) are about 100% honestly and truthfully… and someone is going to end up looking a little foolish. You know… “not the sharpest knife” type. Just fired back.

"If you are reading this… are you sure you want to go here? with ME?!.. My word game is too strong, and your thought process obviously isn’t." He continued.

According to Freeway, the two have settled their differences. In a recent interview with Rhapsody, Free explained the situation.

"Just Blaze did a lot of songs on the first album, but he’s so good that he could make it sound like 10 different producers. He was responsible for the “What We Do,” “Rock the Mic” and “Burnin’ Up” -- basically my career. I would go there and he’d have joints ready. " He retorted.

"There was a little bit of hostility between managers." Said Freeway.

"I think my manager was a little disrespectful to his manager around the beginning of last year. I don’t really know the particulars, but I know it had to do with some publishing. He apologized, but after that, I tried to get at Just a couple times. I’m not saying he wouldn’t, but he wasn’t in a rush or it wasn’t a priority to him. Just is my man. We lived together for a month in Miami. I felt as though we had a good relationship. I spoke to him earlier this year [about it]. We’re supposed to be past it, but still nothing’s happened. " He continued.

When asked about the verse on the track, Free said he was basically "keeping it real."

"I was just keeping it real. I’m not like, “Fuck Just.” It’s all good. I just want to see him and talk to him [about it]. "

"Free At Last", which is appropriately titled seeing as it was originally slated for an early 2005 release, hit store shelves on Tuesday, November 20, 2007 and features cameos from Jay Z, 5o Cent, Scarface, & Busta Rhymes to name a few.

Complex’s Uncut Lil Wayne Interview

With Lil Wayne gracing their December/January cover, Complex magazine has released an uncut version of the interview on their website. In it, Wayne addresses everything from the Hot Boys reunion to smoking blunts with Oscar De la Hoya, Tom from MySpace and Bill Gates. When asked about the fact that fans have been suggesting that Kanye’s verse bested Wayne’s on his track “Barry Bonds,” Weezy had this to say:

“I think he did too, meaning his verse was better. Yeah but I’m going to get him. ‘Ye killed me on that song. I was tight because I was like it could be way hotter than this. So when I heard his verse I was like “oh, we doing this again.” I done it twice, they got two different versions. I done one and I ain’t hear his verse and I done the other one after I heard his verse and even when I finished I said why don’t you let him be the man of song. Meaning that it was needed and what I’ve done nobody else can do it.”

Wayne also addresses rumors about him ghostwriting for his collaborators:

Did you ghostwrite Tity Boi’s verse on “Duffle Bag Boy”?

Hell no, everybody be asking that, it’s so great that people think I wrote it because it shows that I am helping the game. I’m making niggas get on their shit. He’s just so much on his shit to where y’all actually thought I wrote it. Like I wrote an album with Juelz Santana and I ain’t going to lie, niggas ain’t going to listen to that shit in New Orleans for some years. I can’t help but be competitive, niggas is spitting and I’m glad because you gotta look at it like when Biggie was doing it. When Biggie and Pac did it, they didn’t have anybody trying to beat them.

Sister Of Mannie Fresh Murdered In Home

A newlywed and mother of two was gunned down in her Algiers, New Orleans, home while her young children were inside.

Angela Bryant, sister of Mannie Fresh, was found gunned down in her home Thursday morning, however, authorities believe she was murdered Wednesday night between ten and midnight.

Bryant's two children, ages 2 and 7, were in the home during the murder but were safe and unharmed. Her husband was out of town and arrived at the scene grief stricken Thursday afternoon.

"We are still working on the motive." Said SUPT. Warren Riley of the New Orleans Police Department.

"We do have some limited information relative to leads at this point, but it's still very early at this point." He continued.

Authorities say it's too early to know whether this was a home invasion or if Bryant knew her killers, however they did confirm that there was no forced entry into the house.

"We haven't drawn any conclusions or made any eliminations--as the day progresses we hope to learn more but it's a working progress" said Assistant New Orleans Police Superintendent Marlon Defillo.

Police are currently searching for Bryant's black 1998 Lexus LS 400 with tinted windows (License plate # PTF205) which disappeared after her murder. If you have any information, please call Crime Stoppers at (504) 822-1111 or (807) 903-STOP.

True achievement

Most of the highest achievers in this world are people you've never heard of. Because achievement is much more than amassing fame or material wealth.

Achievement is living fully in a way that is meaningful to you and in line with the values you feel most deeply. Achievement is expressing the unique purpose that is at the center of your being.

Achievement does not require the approval, permission or recognition of anyone else. Achievement is following the desires of your most authentic self, not merely satisfying the shallow impulses of your ego.

The vast majority of achievements that come to life every day are quiet and peaceful and immensely fulfilling. Do not confuse true achievement with meaningless spectacles that make a lot of noise but have no lasting value.

In the smallest moments there is the potential for great achievement. For what true achievement is, is living with purpose and love, with thankfulness and joy.

Remember always that achievement is more than merely constructing great edifices. The most valuable achievement is building a meaningful life that makes a positive contribution.

GhostfaceTell Yayo To "suck a fat d*ck."

In a new interview with Rhapsody, Ghost gets very candid about RZA, the new Wu album and the rumor that his second solo album was ghostwritten: In a recent interview Tony Yayo said Superb had written Supreme Clientele.

Yeah, I was in Europe when I heard that. That’s just nonsense. I still put mad sh*t out. ‘Perb was ‘Perb, Ghost was Ghost. ‘Perb is Rae’s man. He been in the studio a few times while we’re doing sh*t. He ain’t write sh*t. All ‘Perb contributed was a couple of lines that you could put in the air. When we write, we all do that. “Say this one right here” or “Put this one right here.” We all catch lines with each other ‘cause you in the studio. You got n*gg*s around you that write. Even if he did write a verse, he could never make an album of mine. He couldn’t make an album, you feel me? I made Supreme Clientele what it is. Those are my stories, based around whatever they’re based upon. It’s me. I can’t see what songs ‘Perb wrote. He ain’t write “Mighty Healthy” or “One” or “Apollo Kids” or “Cherchez LaGhost” or “Saturday Nite” or “Malcolm.” But, Yayo can suck a fat d*ck. Tell him I said that.

Do you still work with Superb?
Superb been in jail for like four or five years. He started getting high and one day he tried to steal my DAT with all the songs from Bulletproof Wallets. N*gg*s f*ck*d him up. We knew he had it. He was being sneaky. I don’t know what he was trying to do with it, but he had it. That’s that, though. It’s like with Yayo, I don’t know what the f*ck he talkin’ about.

Ghost also gives his thoughts on the new Wu-Tang album: Raekwon recently had voiced his displeasure with 8 Diagrams’ musical direction.

Are you happy with how the album came out?
That s**t is wack. I heard RZA was changing some of the beats around the last minute. I didn’t hear that. I don’t know what y’all listening to out there. I never heard it. I’m with Raekwon.

Foxy Brown Speaks on Stint in Solitary, Plans for Her Release

Incarcerated rapper Foxy Brown, who was recently released from solitary confinement after serving 40 days for a scuffle with another prisoner, recently opened up to Metro NY about her ordeal.

“I’m a survivor,” she told the paper. “It’s been very hard, but I believe God uses circumstances to develop your character. I know coming out of this I’m going to be a much stronger person.” Brown, who has been jailed at New York’s Rikers’ Island since August, found that being incarcerated during the Thanksgiving holiday to be particularly trying. “I probably cried the entire Thanksgiving,” she said. “I spoke to my entire family, but I was boo-hooing like a baby. We were served what would be considered sweet potatoes, collared greens and turkey, but it wasn’t anything like my mother’s cooking. I was really, really depressed all day.”

Fox Boogie—who was originally ordered to spend 76 days in solitary, but was released early for good behavior—insists that she has not received any special treatment while at Rikers. “Even upon my arrival, I never had a choice,” she noted. “I was always on lockdown. That’s what people don’t understand.”

The troubled Brooklyn native, who claims that her predicament has had a positive effect on her attitude, is already making plans for a big celebration at the True Worship Church in her home borough upon her release. But partying isn’t the only thing on her mind. She also told Metro NY that she is hoping to become a spokesperson for the National Association of the Deaf when she completes her one year sentence.

Foxy suffered from sudden and severe hearing loss in 2005, but has since experienced a near total recovery after undergoing surgery.

Rick Ross Speaks On Death of Washington Redskins Sean Taylor

In an up-coming interview, Rick Ross speaks on the tragic death of Washington Redskins Free Safety Sean Taylor.

Taylor was shot to death at the age of 24 in his Miami area home November 27 by an apparent intruder. Taylor was born and grew up in the Dade County area of Miami, Florida.

Rick Ross speaks on the incident:

"Man that’s just such an unfortunate event, and it goes to show you that tomorrow is never promised. You have to keep that pistol under that bed man. You have to take that charge. That’s what I’m kind of mad myself about, about the whole situation. You know he had to take a little heat for the past situation and he felt like he couldn’t have that in his possession. I mean someone come into my house? Sh*t I would’ve been fired 100 .22 rounds through the walls and everything at you’re a**. You know what I mean? But you know it’s unfortunate, this dude laying here, his young child is there, his female is there and he’s trying to defend them you know? He lost his life behind that. It’s senseless violence, I’m pretty sure they are going to find out who the suspect is. I’m pretty sure they are going to catch him but you know…that man is dead and gone. He lost his life."

Taylor had run into legal troubles in the past, including being arrested in 2005 for aggravated assault with a firearm (a felony) and battery (a misdemeanor), for allegedly pointing a gun at a person over a dispute over two ATVs that Taylor claimed were stolen from him. He had since cleaned up his life and was focusing on his NFL career.

"You know he had the previous charges and whatever and he couldn’t have one (a gun). That’s just it though, you got to protect your life and your family. Anybody out here reading this…I’m sorry that’s just my stance on it..." Rick Ross said.

Birdman Explains Marijuana Arrest, Denies Being Married

In an interview with MTV News on Wednesday (November 28), Cash Money founder Bryan “Birdman” Williams explained his side of his November 27 arrest on charges of marijuana possession.

He disputed reports that a pound of marijuana was confiscated from the RV he and his entourage were riding in when they were pulled over in Kingsport, Tenn., instead saying that it was a “misdemeanor amount” at best. He also stated that the weapons that were recovered from the vehicle were registered to his security detail, and have already been returned to them by authorities. “The guns we had were good,” he told MTV News. “I do carry a gun and I am licensed. Tennessee is one of the states I can tote in. We know the guidelines. They make you aware of everything in [marksmanship] class.”

Finally, the Cash Money CEO denied that he is married to an 18 year-old woman that was also taken into custody. When the Kingsport News-Times initially reported the arrests, they identified the woman as Brittany Williams, Birdman’s wife. “I’m not married,” he explained to MTV News.

“Never! Been! Married! Plus, that girl was 18! I don’t get down like that! Plus, if I was married, why would I keep it a secret?” He insists that the woman was a friend of one of the men traveling with him.

All 16 passengers of the RV, including Cash Money co-founder and Baby’s brother Ronald “Slim” Williams, were charged with possession of more than a half of an ounce of marijuana and were released after posting $1500 bonds this morning.

They are due back in court on March 18.

Brandy May Go Unscathed In Vehicular Homicide Case

Time is running out for the L.A. City Attorney's Office to file criminal charges against R&B star Brandy for her involvement in the death of a woman last year, due to a car accident.

Statutes only allow one year from the date of the incident to file criminal charges, and the first anniversary of the accident is coming up fast. Though the California Highway Patrol found that Brandy was responsible for the car crash victim's death, Brandy has yet to be charged with vehicular manslaughter, according to TMZ.

Sources say the City Attorney's Office won't make a decision until that last moment. If charges aren't filed, the holiday rush will keep the public from noticing and the case might just disappear quietly.

The victim, Awatef Aboudihaj, was the mother of two boys and her family doesn't plan on allowing the terrible accident to be forgotten. Bill Sayed, who is the lawyer for the victim's husband, Marouane Hdidou, is questioning the hold-up.

"There is a death and obviously reckless driving involved, which is enough evidence for an involuntary manslaughter charge," Sayed told the entertainment news outlet. "As to why the City Attorney has taken this long? I think we would all like to know."

Meanwhile, it seems to the family that Brandy has moved on from the event, unscathed.

"Brandy continues to live life with really no negative results ... doing what Brandy is doing ... as if though nothing has occurred here," Sayed said. "Thanksgiving just passed and [my client] was all alone -- he has no family here."

Though the singer is performing again and prepping a new release, all's not well for Brandy.

She's been hit with wrongful death suits filed against her from the parents and children of the victim. Also, another motorist, Mallory Ham, filed a suit against the singer/actress, accusing her of "recklessly wantonly, unlawfully, and maliciously," operating her vehicle.

In the midst of all the controversy, the former television star stepped down from her position on NBC's "America's Got Talent" this April, issuing a statement that she felt unable to give the new season the commitment and attention it deserved.

The fatal car accident occurred on December 30 around 10:30 a.m. Brandy was reportedly driving northbound on the 405 Freeway, going about 65 mph in her Range Rover. She didn't notice when traffic in front of her slowed and rammed into Awatef Aboudijah's car, causing the victim to veer to the left where she was hit by another car before slamming into the center median. Awatef died eight hours later at the hospital, succumbing to massive internal bleeding.

Nas Reveals Details About New Album "N*gger"

In a recent interview with MTV News, Nas revealed details about his up-coming album "N*gger."

The album, due for release in February (Black History Month), has already stirred up controversy thanks to its album title.

Nas says the album's title isn't meant to be an attack on anyone.

"It's not an attack on white people at all," he told regarding the record's content. "It's knowledge; it's understanding for all people. It's not an attack on any's about the attacks that have happened to blacks, whites, all ethnicities."

Some song titles expected are "The Fear (of the Black Man's Dick)" and "You A Nigger Too." Production will be handled by such names as DJ Toomp, Salaam Remi, Stargate and Diddy.

"DJ Toomp is a humble cat," Nas told "He has talent way beyond his years. He's got every style you need: rock joints, R&B joints. I don't wanna give it all away, but he's the type of dude that can go anywhere..."

And when asked about the shifting of his release date from December '07 to February '08, Nas expressed his disappointment in not being able to continue his string of holiday season releases.

"I was still working and it was a few weeks away from a release date. It was impossible, the timing was off. I was running into the holidays. I'm always coming out in December so I guess I was used to it, but I had to force myself out of that. I couldn't force the album out if it wasn't done."

The Internet is on fire with rumors surrounding R. Kelly and the daughter of Regina Daniels, the singer's longtime publicist who suddenly and mysteriously quit her post saying only that a line had been crossed.

Talk around the black blogosphere Wednesday suggests that Daniels abruptly left the job because Kelly slept with her (step) daughter, who is said to be 19-years-old. A photo of Kelly embracing the girl surfaced yesterday.

When contacted Regina Daniels refused to comment on the photo, or further explain her reasons for leaving the position.

“Unless you’re calling to see how I’m doing, I’m still not going to comment on R. Kelly. I’ve said all I have to say,” Daniels said. She also said that if her husband, veteran music retailer George Daniels, wants to comment, you can talk to him.
George Daniels, also said "no comment," but clarified: "Bottom line is [R. Kelly] crossed a certain line with me and my wife that you shouldn't cross. I respect his talent. You can't deny he's a talented person. But beyond that, everything else is just gone."

Daniels also affirmed that Kelly "never put his hand on Regina, or nothing like that." When asked if he is aware of Wednesday's explosion of Internet rumors about their daughter, he said, "I'm aware of that, too. No comment."

As previously reported, Regina Daniels released the following statement earlier this month announcing her resignation:

"Friends and Colleagues – After careful consideration and counsel, I have decided to formally announce my resignation as publicist for R&B artist R. Kelly.

My resignation was effective as of August 28, 2007. Throughout the course of my 25 years as a publicist, I have prided myself on loyalty, respect and professionalism. It saddens me that I was not always shown those same courtesies during my 14 year tenure as Mr. Kelly's publicist.

Though I have a great appreciation for Mr. Kelly as an artist, there are some lines that should never be crossed professionally or personally. Mr. Kelly crossed a line that forever altered the scope of our relationship. For this reason I made the decision to resign.

My husband, music retailer George Daniels, has also disassociated himself from Mr. Kelly."

Joe Budden Mood Musik 3 Preview, Tracklisting

Joe Budden's comeback isn’t really a comeback at all. As the song, “Hiatus,” suggests it’s nothing but patiently waiting for a real chance to shine. This is what was tangible from the listening session earlier this week at New York City's Plumm Lounge.

Mood Musik 3 isn’t “music in vain” – yet, the Jersey devilish emcee allowed a special and curious collective into the mind of a still hungry rapper. With his release from Def Jam, the public’s “Ventilation” – a sigh of relief – eagerly anticipates Joey’s rise to his rightful place amongst the top sellers in the game.

Dramatics aside – beef and all that – the album listening for Joe Budden started off slow at first, with DJ On Point spinning all the classic club jams from the late 90s through to the 2000s. With guests Joell Ortiz, Lenny S., Mixtape Kings and even Benzino in attendance, Joey ran through the highlights from the album, whetting the crowd’s appetite.

Keeping the mood light, before Joe introduced each track, he would sarcastically state that they were about to play songs from his freshmen debut Joe Budden. “This next track we’re about to play is called 'Pump It Up,' this shit is so dope, that I just had to release it again," was a joke from the party's host.

“Talk To Em” an indirect/direct diss towards his former boss, Jay-Z, balances along the lines of border line disrespectful and friendly competition.

“Warfare," reminiscent of Jadakiss and Styles P’s “We Gon Make It” - on Hip Hop steroids, showcased Budden and Ortiz destroying each 16 bar gap they were assigned. Even though there wasn’t a lot of explanation given before each song, by closely paying attention to the tracks playing, you could grasp what Budden was going through at that particular time.

Highlights include the self-examination track, “Ventiliation,” a lyrical rollercoaster ride called, “Hiatus,” and the somber dedication to Stack Bundles called, “Send Him Our Love.” Joey really goes in and laments on the death of his friend and makes those who live a BET life sober and realize how real this rap game can become.

Taking a break from previewing the street LP, Joey reminded the listeners of his recent celebrity spades trophy. “I got a table in the trunk and a deck of cards on me right now, who wants it” he asserted boastfully. The rapper kept talking about the album to a minimum though, and let the music speak.

“Roll Call,” which places Budden in the “disgruntled Def Jam artist” lane captivates the feelings of a neglected quality artist who believes his talents surpass 85 percent of what’s played on media outlets today. This is however, an indirect diss towards President Carter, shows how annoyed Joe was with his previous label home.

Yet, as the star of the show stood in the spotlight, the track – “Family Reunion” with Fabolous, Hitchcock and now nemesis – Ransom – didn’t even rain on Joe’s parade.

Even though when the tape does drop, Ransom’s verse may be taken off or musically defaced in some way, the song is one definitely to look out for.

Although not all of the songs were previewed, the night, with its musical and celebrity guests and all was worthy of attention. Perhaps as a toast to label freedom, it's not very often that listening sessions are held for mixtapes.

The 19 tracks of Mood Musik 3 are as follows:
1. Intro Track
2. Hiatus
3. Ventilation
4. Talk to Em
5. Warfare
6. Dear Diary
7. Get No Younger

50 Cent is giving fans one last look at his monstrous 19-bedroom house in Farmington, Conn. before he moves out.

The 48,000-square-foot mansion, purchased three years go from former boxer Mike Tyson, will be featured tonight on a special edition of MTV's "Cribs."

The rapper said Tyson had the interior d├ęcor looking crazy when he first moved in. "It kind of had a `Miami Vice' feel. It was like turquoise blue on the floor and purple," the 31-year-old told The Associated Press.

But now, the property includes a full-functioning nightclub with a swing dangling from the ceiling. The space is so vast that sometimes 50 wasn't aware he had guests in the house.

"I'll let them stay on the other side of the house and not actually see them for a day or so, because the house is broken up in three sections — the east side, the west side and then the center of the home," he explained.

Fifty said he originally envisioned the house as a compound where he and his G-Unit camp could record. G-Unit rapper Tony Yayo even has his own rooms at the crib, and 50 says many of his hits have been recorded in his basement studio.

"Right from the studio I will go into the nightclub area ... in order to play it and see what it would sound like in a nightclub," he said.

But 50, who owns several homes, said the two-hour plus commute from Farmington to New York City is getting old. Plus, he's looking to downsize.

"It might be a lot smaller," he said of his future house. "The basics — maybe four or five bedrooms."

The Farmington property is currently on the market for $18.5 million.

Diamond Leaves Crime Mob, "It's Sad We Couldn't Carry On" Says Princess

Hip-Hop gossip columns have been speculating for the past couple of days that Diamond has parted ways with Crime Mob but the Mob has yet to make an official statement. SOHH caught up with the group's other woman, Princess, for the scoop on who's in and who's out.

The rumors reached an all time high on Tuesday (November 27) when Crime Mob hit the red carpet at the 2007 Dirty Awards in Atlanta, sans Diamond. Meanwhile the blond headed rapstress paraded the red carpet with Lil' Scrappy.

"Diamond is no longer in the group right now," Princess said before a show. "She is working on a solo career but we still wish her well. She has a mix tape called 'B-word' Music. Go check her out on MySpace. It's still love but we had to keep the business going and keep money flowing."

Princess said there's no beef, but it's unfortunate that they couldn't work things out as a group.

"It's sad we couldn't carry on ... but it is what it is," Princess said. "You just gotta keep the ball rolling. Everybody got their own agenda."

Crime Mob just opened another budget for the group's upcoming third album and Princess' new mixtape is slated to drop in December. She just took new pictures for the cover.

"Y'all will enjoy it," she said. "It's no features, no skits, no intros, no outros, just me,"

No word on Diamond's release date as of date.

20th Anniversary Edition Of NWA's "Straight Outta Compton" In Stores Dec. 4

On December 4, Capitol/Priority will release an expanded 20th Anniversary Edition of "Straight Outta Compton" in CD, vinyl and digital formats.

The commemorative release adds five bonus tracks, including a live version of "Compton's N The House," covers of Straight Outta Compton tracks by Snoop Dogg and C-Murder, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, Mack 10, and WC, and a new package essay by music writer and author Soren Baker.

N.W.A.'s first album, N.W.A and the Posse, was released in 1987, but it is 1988's Straight Outta Compton that has endured as the group's genre-defining masterpiece. From the propulsive groove of "Express Yourself" to the title track's battering statement of purpose, nothing had prepared listeners for this album's uncompromising power.

"The listening experience," Cheo Coker wrote in The Vibe History of Hip-Hop, "was akin to being wired into a sensory camera, where you could smell the room, sense the bullets whizzing by your head, and feel your adrenaline pump as the police raced you around the block."

Amy Winehouse Cancels Tour, Again

After a turbulent year British soul singer, Amy Winehouse, recently announced that she is cancelling the remainder of her UK tour, apparently not wanting to complete the dates without her incarcerated husband.

Winehouse announced the end of her touring plans in a statement released earlier this week after talks with her management and other tour officials. The meeting reportedly came to a close with the singer "collapsing in floods of tears" and demanding that her remaining tour dates be shelved because she couldn't cope without husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

Civil was recently arrested by authorities in East London, for allegedly trying to manipulate a witness in his upcoming trial for an assault charge in 2006. A spokesperson for Winehouse said that the cancellation was at the advice of a doctor.

"I can't give it my all onstage without my Blake," Winehouse said. "I'm so sorry but I don't want to do the shows half-heartedly; I love singing. My husband is everything to me and without him it's just not the same."

A source close to the matter reported that Winehouse was, "In a terrible state in London. She looked awful and had been in floods of tears. She was fragile and weak like an old woman. It was depressing to watch. When the tour was cancelled it was like a weight lifted off her shoulders immediately." The singer still had a remaining eight dates left on the tour, which would have come to a close at Brixton Academy in London on December 17.

The two newlyweds have had their share of both highly publicized issues in the media as well as legal troubles, most recently when the couple was arrested for marijuana possession in October. Winehouse and Civil-Fielder were arrested at a hotel in Bergen Norway along with another unnamed British acquaintance, but were released soon after following a payment of $715 in fines.

This is also not the first time that fans hoping to catch the singer live will be left high and dry. Earlier this year Winehouse postponed her upcoming North American tour until 2008.

"Due to the rigors involved in touring, Amy Winehouse has been advised to postpone her upcoming September U.S. and Canadian tour dates." a statement from her American label, Universal, read.

Both the record label as well as personal representatives for the artist have expressed concerns for her health amongst a whirl wind of rumors and speculation of the singer's use of drugs

Refunds for those who purchased tickets to the remaining shows are scheduled to be issued to fans at the locations where they were purchased.

Choose your attitude

Your attitude can be based on the weather, the amount of traffic congestion, the way people treat you, or a whole lot of other things. Or, your attitude can be exactly what you choose for it to be.

When you turn your attitude over to other people or to random circumstances, it's going to be volatile, undependable and not very productive. By contrast, when you choose your own attitude, independent of what's happening around you, then you set yourself up to make swift and positive progress.

Your attitude serves as a lens through which you see life, and it's best when that lens is focused on the positive possibilities. Your attitude can enable you to make the most of difficult situations, to find and to create enormous value in your world.

There is absolutely nothing that forces you to adopt one particular attitude over another. When you get in the habit of consciously choosing to have a positive, empowering attitude, you become gloriously free to achieve the things that are most meaningful to you.

Your attitude is always yours to select. Doesn't it make sense to select an attitude that will foster peak performance and effectiveness no matter what may be going on around you?

Don't let anyone or anything else control something as critically important as your attitude. Now, and always, choose an attitude that will enable you to soar high.

Birdman, Cash Money Staff Arrested, Hit With Drug Charges

Cash Money Records CEO and rapper Bryan "Baby" Williams was among 16 people charged with possession of marijuana yesterday (November 27) on the way to a BET shoot in New York.

According to the Associated Press, the Cash Money Records founder and his entourage were pulled over in Kingsport, Tenn. after their RV made an improper lane change, forcing a tractor trailer into the emergency lane on Interstate 81.

Kingsport Police Cpl. Tim Horne said that after stopping the vehicle he could smell marijuana coming from inside the rented RV. He said that after obtaining consent to search the vehicle, he found about a pound of marijuana in a trash can in the RV's kitchenette.

The group was traveling from New Orleans.

All 16 people were charged with possession of more than ½ ounce of marijuana, including Williams, 38, his wife Brittany, 18, his brother, Cash Money co-founder Ronald Williams, 43, and 13 others.

Among the Cash Money affiliates arrested were road manager Shahid Muhammad, 40, Cash Money Records promoter Casey Collins, 42, and music promoter Ovide Antoine, 32, of Miami, Fla.

Also found in the RV were an assault rifle, a handgun and a magazine for a .45-caliber handgun. Although no weapons charges have been filed, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is now involved in the investigation.

Birdman and his clique were still in jail as of late Tuesday night.

Lil Wayne Says He Will Kill & Aims At Clipse Again

Remember the last time Lil Wayne spoke with Complex Magazine? Weezy raised a lot of eyebrows with his slick tongue lashing of Jay-Z which almost led to a major beef - but has since been settled as Wayne was featured on Jay’s American Gangster album.

This month, Lil Wayne returns to the cover of Complex and is ready to stir the pot just a little bit more with some insight on a song he knows was about him.

“I thought the whole ‘Mr. Me Too’ video was about me, to tell you the damn truth,” Weezy says of the Clipse song. “They think I want to be like them. I’m on a million-dollar bus going around the world charging people from $50,000 to $150,000 for verses, and I got 77 songs in magazines and I got a billion more. Do the math; you think I’m trying to be like you? No sir.”

It’s no secret that Wayne and The Clipse don’t get along. The two entities have gone back and forth previously and Wayne isn’t quite through with their rift yet. Will The Clipse let this one slide?

In the issue he also addresses handling his own beef – which many notice that Wayne doesn’t do much beefing on wax. What he says may raise just a few more eyebrows…

“You’d expect me to pay somebody to do it? You supposed to be able to do anything in this world. That’s what Martin Luther King told me,” He says when addressing taking care of problems with people. “He ain’t never put a specific on what to [do]. He said you can do anything. ‘Kill’ falls under that.”

The issue of Complex hits newsstands soon.

Alicia Keys Slips To #2 But Goes Platinum; Freeway Debuts Poorly

Alicia Keys slipped to #2 on the Billboard charts this week but sold enough to go platinum in only 2 weeks. The week's #1 album was from Josh Groban whose Christmas album "Noel" sold 405,000 copies.

According to, her new album "As I Am" sold 349,000 copies this week bringing its 2 week total to over 1 million records sold.

Chris Brown's new album "Exclusive" saw a resurgence this week, possibly helped by his appearance in the new film "This Christmas, as the album rose 10% in sales moving 121,000 copies and coming in at #9.

Although it has been called one of the best album's of the year, Freeway's new album "Free At Last" debuted poorly on the charts selling only 36,000 copies and coming in at #42.

Billboard reports this week, the top 11 albums all sold more than 100,000 copies, helped by the first week of the post-Thanksgiving shopping season. However, sales this week (13.94 million units) are down 18.1% from the same week last year (17.02 million). This week's sum is up 19% from last week's.

Trilla, the follow up to Rick Ross’ debut Port of Miami, has been given a new release date of February 19, 2008.

Trilla will feature guest appearances from Def Jam head Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Trick Daddy. Ross has also recruited go-to hook men Akon and T-Pain as well as Marshia Ambrosius of Floetry. “’Trilla’ means real enough and was really inspired by Michael Jackson’s Thriller,” Ross explained to

“It’s going to be the biggest street album of the year.” Production duo The Runners, who helped put Ross on the map with his 2006 smash “Hustlin,’” will return for Trilla, in addition to DJ Toomp and Cool & Dre.

Joell Ortiz Aftermath Days Might Be Over

Joell Ortiz is ready to "keep it real." While the rapper obtained an enormous buzz with his Aftermath signing and the release of mixtapes earlier this year, Ortiz has yet to release his Aftermath debut. Things seemed promising, but like with so many other rappers, nothing was released and label talks became sour. Now, Ortiz has opened up about his label situation, his feelings about Aftermath, what Interscope head Jimmy Iovine really thinks of him and he even gave everyone a promise.

"This is my keep it real, right now," he recently said to a video camera for XXL magazine, before opening up about everything.

"First, Aftermath called and said that Jimmy Iovine doesn't want me there...I don't even know Jimmy Iovine. I never even met him. [They said] 'I don't know what's going on with Aftermath. The word is that they thinkin' 'bout letting you go.' I'm like, 'Let me go? I got all this buzz, putting out good records, I've got XXL covers on my own!' This information was comin' from within Aftermath," he boldly told XXL.

"Then I'm in Atlanta, at the BET Hip-Hop Awards, and somebody comes up to me like, 'I heard what's goin' on, fam.' I'm like, 'Alright, this is gettin' crazy because now it's not inside anymore.'"

Later, Ortiz agreed that his situation may seem like a dream come true. However, with the negative comments he's heard, he spoke directly to Aftermath regarding his status with the label.

"When you try to be a rapper, you think about a big time record deal, what better than Interscope and Dr. Dre and stuff like that? But, I ain't gettin' a chance to really get hands on with it. I don't get to really talk to Dre. My thing is, 'Yo, if you don't want me there, let me go. Joell Ortiz worked too hard to sit around. I can't sit around. People are waiting on me. People want to know what's going on with Joell. They want to hear the next thing. Koch set me up lovely. I need to come out." Ortiz' Koch Records release The Brick sold over 50,000 units despite limited marketing, promotion and radio exposure.

Neverthteless, this has not discouraged Ortiz from hitting the pad and the booth.
"Right now, I'm recording. As of right now, I'm currently on Aftermath. As of right now, I want to release next year, but who knows?"

After a second thought, Joell Ortiz came back with a promise.

"I'ma make y'all a promise. I will drop next year."

A higher perspective

What troubles you is mostly trivial when viewed from the great perspective of all that is. Yet those troubles can feel much bigger when you look at them from the viewpoint of your self-imposed limitations.

Your ego will seek to convince you that nothing beyond you matters. Such thinking will keep you trapped in a prison of your own making.

Let go of the need to prove what you're worth. And you'll realize how uniquely valuable you already and always are.

As long as you remain on the same level as the obstacles in your life, those obstacles will prevent you from making progress. Yet from a higher perspective you'll discover many ways to get beyond them.

If you're confounded by some particular situation, step back and remind yourself, in your own way, of how truly beautiful and magnificent life can be. Feel yourself rising above the limitations that your ego has constructed.

Instead of being troubled by your troubles, let them be a catalyst for your own growth and for truly meaningful inspiration. Climb up to a higher perspective and find a path to the greatness that is within you.

Usher Becomes A Father, Wife Gives Birth To Baby Boy

Usher's new wife Tameka Foster gave birth to the couple's son last night (November 26).

According to People magazine, several sources have revealed that the newlywed couple welcomed their first child together yesterday evening.

Reports from one source say Usher visited his wife and newborn baby boy at an Atlanta hospital today (November 27) and both mother and child are healthy and expected to go home by tomorrow.

Reps for both Usher and Foster have yet to confirm the story and as of today the family has not released an official announcement.

As previously reported, after revealing the pregnancy this June, Usher, 29, and Foster, 36, announced they were expecting a boy in the fall. The child is Usher's first, while Foster has three children from a previous marriage.

The couple wed in a civil ceremony on September 1 in Atlanta.

(L note: over the last couple of months a lot has been said about Ushers choice for a wife, People need to mind their own b.i. If he say he happy wit her let that man be happy. Congrats to Usher and Tameka)

Jay-Z, Diddy Named on Hot 40 Under 40 List

Hip Hop’s elite get another opportunity to shine in this month’s issue of Black Enterprise magazine. Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter and Sean “Diddy” Combs are just two of the stars highlighted in the magazines 2007 Hot List: America’s Most Powerful Players Under 40.

The issue also marks the first time Black Enterprise has had five covers for a single issue. NBA standout LeBron James; Chris Brown and Kirk Franklin; Queen Latifah; John Legend and Wyclef Jean; Venus Williams all hold down covers.

Black Enterprise wanted to showcase some familiar faces in entertainment, sports and other industries, but also wanted to highlight some major players behind the scenes.

"These celebrities have shrewdly leveraged their fame to build multimillion-dollar empires that will sustain them beyond their careers in sports and entertainment," says Black Enterprise Editor-at- Large Carolyn Brown. "Plus, this year's list goes outside the box to include business executives, top-ranked money managers, and medical researchers whose impact on our world is undeniable."

In addition, for aspiring emcees and independent label owners, the December issue also chronicles the independent music scene (The Rise of Independent Music: Indie labels maximize control). Talib Kweli (Blacksmith Records), Kanye West (G.O.O.D. Music), Tamia (Plus 1 Music Group) are name checked in the article.

The piece breaks down the different kinds of label deals, the pros and cons of each, the costs of making—and promoting—an album, and what to look for in a contract.

Other Hip Hop entities included on the Hot List are Steve Stoute, Nate "Danja" Hills, Nick Cannon, 50 Cent, Wyclef Jean, Timbaland, Kevil Liles, Queen Latifah and Will Smith.
