Judge Sets Trial Date in Remy Ma Case
A Manhattan judge on Thursday (January 31) set a tentative date of February 25 for the start of Remy Ma’s impending trial on charges of assault and witness tampering according to a report from website TMZ.com.
Remy stands accused of shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph on July 14 during an argument over missing money. She was initially charged with attempted murder, but prosecutors reduced the charge when they discovered that the weapon fired accidentally. She was later indicted on witness tampering charge after she allegedly ordered a group of men to assault the boyfriend of a potential witness.
In December, Barnes-Joseph filed a $10 million dollar lawsuit against the Bronx-born rapper and several of her record labels, claiming that the companies encouraged her criminal behavior to further her career.
The suit was later amended and the victim is now seeking $80 million in damages.
Concert Promoter Sues R. Kelly
R. Kelly is being sued by a concert promoter who alleges Kelly agreed to perform at the Target Center in Minneapolis on Dec. 6th 2007 but moved the date to Dec. 20th and failed to show.
TMZ.com has the actual court documents filed by Nevada-based promoter Royalty Records (through its associate company Marjani Clothing). View the documents here.
It is alleged that Royalty Records paid Rowe Entertainment $120,000 to secure Kelly's performance on the "Double Up" tour that also featured appearances by Keyshia Cole, Ne-Yo (who was removed from the tour almost immediately amidst much controversy) and J-Holiday.
R. Kelly is alleged to have moved the concert date from Dec. 6th 2007 to Dec. 20th 2007 but then failed to show on the 20th, the same day the R&B singer was threatened with arrest and was required to show up in a Chicago courtroom.
Royalty Records is seeking the $120,000 appearance fee plus unspecified damages.
Foxy Brown Delays Album, "BK Don Diva" Awaits Release From Jail
It seems that Foxy Brown can't catch a break these days. It has been reported that her latest album has been pushed back yet again.
The Brooklyn bred MC will now see the release of her LP, Brooklyn's Don Diva, re-scheduled for the second time. The album, which had been pushed back to a February 5th release date, now won't be released until this spring. Chaz Williams, Foxy's manager, said the decision was made so the rapper would not have to forgo promotion of the album and enjoy a proper release.
"The album release date has been changed at the direction of Foxy and Black Hand Management," Williams said. "Foxy will be out in April and we wanted her to be able to participate in the promotion of this album."
"This also gives us the opportunity to get out the proper visuals and videos to support her records, as well as the opportunity to do live radio promo and tour in support album release," he added. "This was a business decision we felt served our best interest as an independent record company."
This is just the latest setback for the troubled MC, who recently had a request for an early release from prison denied. Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson denied the request on Thursday (Jan. 24), saying Foxy failed to provide any medical proof that she needed to undergo a procedure to receive a cochlear ear implant. Foxy contends that she needs the implant to preserve her hearing. Her cochlear was reportedly damaged after she was punched during an altercation with another inmate.
Kia Shine Comments on Altercation with TMI Boyz
Memphis MC Kinfolk Kia Shine has been relatively quiet since reports surfaced earlier this week about a physical alteration that occurred between himself and Houston/Galveston based group TMI Boyz at the Southern Entertainment Awards in Tunica, Miss. this past Sunday (January 27).
“While in Miami Filming the MTV Jams Show Hoodfab this past Thurs-SAT, I kept receiving phone calls and emails in regard to Wendy Day bashing my cd sales and my current label status with Universal Motown.
A friend of mine sent me a visual of the comments that was made at The New Daisy on Thursday and at the “How to get a record Deal” conference on Friday in Tunica. Wendy Day made statements about me having poor first week sales and went on to say that is why I was dropped from Universal Motown and that I was making Memphis artist look bad because of this, and that I wasn’t making any money for myself or my label. She also went on to say that my CD had no substance as well.
Why she chose to speak on my business without consulting with me first to make sure what she was saying was indeed TRUE is beyond me, Why she chose to come to Memphis at this “open forum” and say these things about me is also beyond me. So when I arrived in Memphis on Sunday to present my award at the SEA’s I felt it only right to address these statements in an “open forum” just as she did at the earlier conferences.
I explained that cd sales are down across the board especially with rap, but that the real money was in the ownership of your digital downloads, ringtones and ringbacks and shows. I explained that I owned all of those digital formats of my music and that I was making money off of that, despite what Wendy Day had said prior about me not making any money back for myself or Universal Motown. I said that I am to blessed to be stressed about some lady who is bitter about not making any money in Memphis.
I also stated that I had just shot 2 video in Memphis that are playing currently on MTV and BET and that helps shed light on my city. The crowd cheered and applauded to my statements and I left the stage after presenting my award. After doing so Wendy, who walked on stage while I was talking, tried to grab my arm and speak to me, she asked did she offend me with her statements, I said damn right, and pulled away, she again tried to talk to me when I got off the stage, while conversating with her, I was hit from the back, which I feel was a bitch move, Wendy and I were talking, not fighting, and the situation was between me and her, so for someone to hit me from the blindside when the situation did not involve them was a cowardly move.
Immediately after being hit, I begin to fire back at the 3 or 4 individuals that were around me. The person who passed the first lick, RAN AWAY, like a coward. My brother Dirty Fresh of the group Streetknok jumped in and hit a few indiviuals as well, then Sonny Black & Jack Frost jumped in and we pretty much had the situation handled, at that time the cops came and sprayed mace on us. I understand why, because they didn’t see the first punch that was thrown by the cowards, they just saw me and my team handling our business and getting the better end of the cowards that started the brawl. They threw me and my guys out, and that is the exact way it went down.
Its unfortunate that this had to happen and that some UNKNOWN artist are getting some publicity off of this. If I hit you I’m brainless, but If you hit me you FAMOUS, what’s a real hustla to do? I guess just put it all on my KUSH DVD so everyone can see what really happened I have it all on film, her comments she made about me at the memphisrap.com panel as well as at the SEA panel, plus I have my comments I made on stage as well as the brawl on tape. It will all be on my KUSH DVD which will be out in March.
As far the cowards that got involved in the situation, I would never come to someone else’s city and get involved in a situation that has nothing to do with me. Make a hit record, that’s how you get ON, not by trying to get brownie points!”
Jay-Z Confirmed As Headliner Of Britain's Glastonbury Festival
Jay-Z has been confirmed to headline this summer's Glastonbury Festival, organizers told BBC.
On Thursday (January 31), Organizer Michael Eavis revealed that a New York rapper would headline the three-day festival, and although many pegged Jay as the act, he left everyone speculating whether the rapper would perform or not.
But on Friday, he confirmed the news, and the rapper will head the bill for the June event.
Eavis told BBC that Jay wanted to "break with tradition this time and put on something totally different."
Eavis hopes Jay-Z would attract a younger audience to the event. "He will appeal to the young people and under-25s for sure, so that's a big pull for them," he said. "It's not like the traditional one we do, like Radiohead, Coldplay and Muse and Oasis."
Registration opened for the Glaston Festival opened Friday. Although registration doesn't guarantee a ticket, anyone who wants to buy a ticket when they go on sale on 6 April must have registered first.
For registration, fan hopefuls must submit their details and a photo by March 15.
According to BBC, 175,000 people are expected to attend the festival from June 27-29, which takes place at Eavis' 320-hectare (800-acre) Worthy Farm in south-west England.
While Jay-Z has been confirmed and Neil Diamond as well, Eavis is tight-lipped about the rest of the event's line-up.
Lil Wayne Preps First Carter III Single
Lil Wayne is preparing to drop the first single for his highly anticipated and much delayed new LP, Tha Carter III. Weezy recently shot a video in Las Vegas for the first single, “Lollipop,” which was produced by Deezle and features singer Static.
In a new interview with Billboard magazine, Wayne explains that he doesn’t want to rush the project. “It’s one of those albums people are really waiting on, so I made it so that whatever is on it will stick with you forever,” he tells Billboard. “I’m taking my time with it. And I’m giving artists I respect and people I want to do songs with—not songs the label fixed—an opportunity to collaborate.”
He goes on to say that he is interested in working out a deal with his label, Universal Records, that will allow him to shoot videos for each song on the album. “Every one of them is a movie,” he says of the tracks.
Guests scheduled to appear on Tha Carter III include Hurricane Chris, Corey Gunz, Tyga, Jibbs, Shanell, Kidd Kidd, Mack Maine and Lil Mama. Producers including The Alchemist, Cool & Dre and Jim Jonsin have already contributed tracks.

(Dissing Uncle Murda)
Fat Joe To 50 Cent: "Suck My D*ck"
Looks like the war between Fat Joe and 50 Cent has heated up yet again.
The rappers, who have been going back and fourth since 2004, have started taking shots at each other once again after Fat Joe called out 50 Cent on BET's Rap City.
"This dude 50 Cent is a clown, we've been beefing what -- three years?" said Joe.
"I go to every club in New York City, every hood. Have you ever seen a G-Unit member in a club? The question was eliminate, he can't eliminate Fat Joe. Since I've been beefing with 50 Cent, I've become so much richer in my life, so much more millions and keep dropping hit records. And my brother Khaled is dropping heavy records and We The Best and you see that movement. You can't stop us. We untouchable, B." He continued.
50, never being the one to shy away from a confrontation, responded to Joe on a newly released single from G-Unit, entitled "I'm Leavin."
"Joey Crack, he don't want it no more--I told him before/ you don't want it with me, you're pussy fat boy!" said Fif on the mixtape track.
"I watched Rap City, I see this fat nigga frontin'...don't nobody like this niggas' shit. This nigga's shit is wack. I'll tell you straight up." He continued towards the end of the track.
"Now you got my undivided attention, I'm on your ass now!"..Fif exclaimed.
In a recent interview with Complex Magazine, Fat Joe has fired back at the G-Unit frontman saying he's simply looking for attention and will go on to diss him the "I Get Money" hitmaker.
"As far as him [50 Cent], he’s got shot by people who he knows and he doesn’t do nothing about it. He sees Ja Rule, little Ja Rule, and he never even fought him one on one. He’s going to come fuck with Fat Joe? Are you serious? He still don’t leave his house." Joe tells Complex.
When asked by Complex if Fif's threats have taken the battle to "the next level" Joe seemed reluctant to even dub the beef a "battle."
"I mean, battle what? What, you want me to battle rap him? I just want to know what does he want to get out of it. (Laughs) You know, make a hot record. Like, what are you doing? I’m going to curse him out again. If that’s what you’re asking, yeah, I’m going to curse him out. So we’re going to curse each other out and four years from now, most likely, we’ll still be here. He’s wasting his time. "
"He’s looking for attention, I’m gonna diss him. I’m gonna tell him to suck my dick, everything you can think. I’m gonna tell him that. What does he want out of me? He’s gonna tell me, “Oh, Fat Joe, you’re a sucka.” This, this, that and I’m gonna be like, “suck my dick?” “You punk ass mother fucker.” And that’s it. And then, you know, do a survey and draft to clubs and draft to the ghetto and see who’s really out there and who’s not. He said, come down to Madison Square Garden and see him or something. Get the fuck out of here. "
Prodigy Bids Farewell, G-Unit Hosts Sendoff Concert In NYC
Mobb Deep MC Prodigy will bid farewell to the free world during a sendoff party and concert next Wednesday (Feb. 6) at B.B. King's Blues Club & Grill in New York City.
Dubbed the "All Star QB + G-Unit Tribute to Prodigy," the party will feature P performing his latest solo release, H.N.I.C. 2, in its entirety. Unnamed special guests are also scheduled to appear.
Prodigy (born Albert Johnson) is preparing to do a three-and-a-half-year bid for weapons charges after being caught with a loaded, unregistered .22-caliber gun in his $150,000 bulletproof SUV in 2006.
He was originally scheduled to report to prison in January, but was granted a five-week extension, reportedly to give his doctors time to assemble his medical records in light of the fact that he suffers from sickle cell disease.
Although Prodigy is not yet behind bars, he shot the video for "Real Power Is People" from a jail cell at the Queens House of Detention.
The rapper's all-ages sendoff show begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $20.
Ruff Ryders Reunion Album In The Works
Swizz Beatz has revealed that the original Ruff Ryders crew is currently putting together a new family album.
DMX, Drag-On, The Lox and Swizz Beatz are currently recording the LP expected to be released sometime in 2008.
Swizz Beatz told MTV:
"I'm in my zone," Swizz noted. "I'm bringing the Ruff Ryders back real major in '08. It's gonna be a lot of Ruff Ryders sh-- in '08. Not taking away from D-Block, not taking away from Bloodline. It's stamping the brand that started all this sh--. They letting me do whatever I wanna do as the president [of the company]. This is what I wanna do. Do this album, 10 bangers. Trying to get a joint from [Dr.] Dre, Primo [DJ Premier]. We got Dame Grease. All the original producers, everything to make the Ruff Ryder album authentic head-banger hip-hop. I got everybody right now. X just sent me five verses. Trust me. I don't accept just any X [verses]. You'll see. This is the real deal. I'm not gonna do it if it's not the real deal."
Swizz Beatz is also currently crafting songs for the likes of Usher, 50 Cent and for himself as he prepares to drop the follow-up to his "One Man Band Man" album.
"The title is between Life After the Party and Remember Hip-Hop," he continued. "I'm in between them. I don't even have a date on my joint. I'm just feeling out the scene."
Jacki-O Preps Release Of First Book
Jacki-O, is taking on a new career. Instead of pursuing acting like most rappers do, she has become an author.
Jacki-O is gearing up for the release of his first book, a work fiction called Grown & Gangsta, being released through C-Murder's recently launched TRU Publishing.
The book tells the story of six friends, Monique, Tatiana, Inch, Malcolm, Quentin and Iz, who support each other through trying times on the streets and in their personal lives.
Grown & Gangsta is currently available for pre-order through Amazon.com and trupublishing.com. Here is an excerpt:
“The pop pop pop of the paparazzi’s cameras lit up the night like diamonds made of light. Each flash was like a bling. Many celebrities, athletes and popular rappers had come out to P-Nice’s Hampton mansion. P-Nice owned the hottest rap label in the game, Street Life Records, as well as the trendy clothing label Pierre Wear. To be invited to his Fourth of July party meant you were somebody in the industry or in the streets. Monique was of the former. She was the A & R rep. from the up and coming Harlem World Records and had been responsible for the signing of one of the best new singers in the game, Joi Black, and a rapper out of Jersey named Lucky Malone. Monique wasn’t a heavy weight by a long shot, neither was she raking in the dough, but her name was ringing bells and with the contacts she was making, she had her eyes on her own label.”
Joell Ortiz Speaks On Leaving Aftermath
After weeks of rumors, it has been confirmed that Joell Ortiz is not on Aftermath Records any longer. The rumors first started swirling when Bishop Lamont, a fellow Aftermath artist, had said in an interview,"From what I heard I think (Ortiz) got dropped...I think dude got dropped 'cause of the whole Interscope thing." In a recent interview Ortiz was asked about the "Ups and Downs" video that ends with Ortiz getting his release form from Aftermath in the mail and he revealed that he actually asked to be released from the label. “I can’t afford to wait. I got a million people waiting on me to come out,” Ortiz says in regards to the release request. “I would have been cheating myself if I would have to sit there and wait (on Aftermath). I have momentum now and I need to take advantage of it now. I need to be coming out with a new record ASAP.”
However, he says that he is still working with Dr. Dre. “Those are my records still,” Ortiz said when asked what would happen with the material that was intended for an Aftermath release. “You are still going to hear me on a Doctor beat! Everything is beautiful.” In regards to the statement that Bishop Lamont had to say about him, Joell said, "“I checked the interview (with Bishop Lamont) and it was just someone speaking on a situation that they know nothing about,” Ortiz stated in regards to the interview. He also mentioned that he and Lamont have only spoken a couple of times and there’s no hard feelings.
“Me and Dr. Dre deal how me and Dr. Dre deal,” Ortiz said. “They deal how they deal. I wouldn’t comment on him but he commented on me. It’s all good. He just didn’t know what he was talking about.” No matter what anybody is speculating, Joell doesn't want his fans to think he is bad shape. “I want people to understand that I got money in my pocket. I’m working with Dr. Dre. I got a mixtape coming out that’s ridiculous…I got a bidding war going on without trying to create one. I’m feeling good!”
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Denied Entry Into Canada, Cancels Tour Dates
Bone Thugs-N-Harmony were denied entry into Canada early Wednesday morning (January 30), as they prepared to head on a sold out tour through the country.
The group said they were told their entry into Canada was denied by Customs officials because their music was "too violent," which they cannot understand.
"We never had a problem going over there, but all of the sudden, they talking the music is too violent," Krayzie Bone told BallerStatus.com. "I'm like 'Man, that's crazy because we doing the same music we've done every time we came over there and nothing never happened.'"
The group was scheduled to leave for Canada Wednesday morning for five sold out dates -- including stops in Calgary, Vancouver and Winnipeg -- but got the bad news from the tour's promoter just before they were preparing to leave.
"We was supposed to leave this morning and the promoter told us he was having trouble getting us cleared to enter the country," explained Krayzie. "We was on stand by, and he was gonna let us know what was going on this morning at 8 a.m. He said he went to the Councilor and everything, and they was like 'We was high risk of coming over there,' 'they didn't wanna take the risk,' 'they didn't want it on their hands if something happened,' and everything."
The rapper said that the group was very surprised when they heard the news, mainly because they had toured there just last year and several times in the past without incident, and don't understand why this time is any different.
"We was just over there last year... around the same time last year," he said, "and we didn't have no problem whatsoever getting through the Customs or nothing."
While Krayzie admits that fights had broken out between concertgoers at their shows in the past, he insisted the incidents were isolated and had nothing to do with Bone or their music. "We never really had nothing major at all, happen at our concerts. No riots, nobody getting shot or killed, or nothing like that," Krayzie said.
Although they are still confused about the situation, Krayzie speculated as to why Canada is strict in letting rappers through the border. One reason he had was the country's rising gang problem, which officials confirmed with the group.
"I hear a lot of people is having problems with Canada now. They did mention that they have a rising gang problem on they hands out there in Canada, so that might be one of the reasons," Krayzie explained.
The group's Canadian tour would have been in support of latest album, T.H.U.G.S., which was released through Ruthless Records; their last major label project, Strength & Loyalty; and their DVD film "I Tried."
Despite the Canada dates being canceled, the group is slated to continue on the U.S. leg of the tour, which kicks off in Portland, Oregon on February 16, hitting cities such as Los Angeles, Dallas, New York and Atlanta, before wrapping things up in Montgomery, Alabama on June 14.
The group is upset that their Canadian fans aren't able to catch their shows though. "We still got a very strong fan base. Our fans been following us for a very long time. It's unfortunate that our sold out shows in Canada were canceled, because our fans stay loyal to us and we want to stay loyal to them," Krayzie said.
Beyonce & Mariah Carey Crowned "Cash Queens"
Music's female stars are raking in cash by the millions, prompting Forbes magazine to crown 20 chanteuses, including Beyoncé and Mariah Carey in its list of "Cash Queens."
Though Forbes has previously generated a list of the top female earners in entertainment, for this list of "Cash Queens," the publication narrowed its focus to female singers; calculating concert grosses, merchandising revenue, album sales and revenue from clothing lines, fragrance deals and endorsements for artists who either toured or released an album or film between June 2006 and June 2007. The result was a combined $420 million in gross income earnings.
While B didn't top the list, along with Gwen Stefani and Christina Aguilera she landed in the top 10--#5, #6, and #7 respectively. Beyoncé banked $27 million, raking in revenue from deals with L'Oreal, American Express and Samsung, while Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. line helped push her profits to $26 million and Aguilera's partnership with Pepsi helped her put $20 million in the bank.
Madonna led the pack by pulling in $72 million thanks to income from record sales, a deal with H&M and her record-breaking "Confessions" tour, which grossed $260 million worldwide. The money is expected to keep on coming for Madge, who recently left Warner Music Group for a 10-year deal with Live Nation worth approximately $120 million.
Longtime favorite Mariah Carey won the #10 spot with $13 million in earnings, followed closely by 20-year-old Hilary Duff, the youngest to land on Forbes list, with $12 million thanks primarily to merchandising stemming from her stint as Disney's Lizzie McGuire. Despite her troubled year, Britney Spears profited $8 million, trailed closely by Nelly Furtado ($7 million) and Jennifer Lopez ($6 million).
In related news, Rihanna and Raven Symone recently earned spots on the "Ten Most Powerful Girls" list in the new issue of US Magazine, which treads similar territory to Forbes' list. Raven reportedly made $400 million from her Disney show "That's So Raven." In addition to star power and earnings the US list cites Rihanna and Symone for their qualities as role models.

Roc-A-Fella Remaining At Def Jam ... For Now
Billboard.com spoke to Beanie Sigel's manager and he made it clear that Beanie Sigel and Freeway haven't been dropped by Roc-A-Fella Records contrary to Internet reports that entire label's roster had been let go.
Mark Byers, Beanie Sigel's manager, told Billboard.com:
"Beans and Freeway didn't get dropped," says Beanie Sigel's manager, Mark Byers. "I just got off the phone with L.A. Reid talking about the next video for ‘Rain’ featuring Raheem DeVaughn that we're about to release. We're re-launching Beanie's project and releasing a ‘Rain’ remix with State Property."
Internet reports had circulated this week that Roc-A-Fella's entire roster of artists had been dropped by Def Jam. An unnamed source said the following:
"I don't think there's going to be a Roc-A-Fella anymore," says the insider. "I do think each artist will have to go to the new people in charge and have a meeting separately. But the Roc artists aren't going to roll over and die."
There are still strong rumors online that Roc-A-Fella artist Peedi Peedi has been dropped. Peedi AKA Peedi Crakk released a Jay-Z diss song this week called "I'm Sorry."
C-Murder’s Trial Delayed Until June
C-Murder’s re-trial for the 2002 murder of 16 year-old Steve Thomas was scheduled to begin next month, but has now been delayed until June 9.
According to the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Judge Martha Sassone agreed to a joint request from the defense and prosecutor David Wolff to delay jury selection, which was set to begin on February 11.
On Tuesday (January 29) Wolff, Sassone and Ron Rakosky—the rapper’s attorney—sat down for a meeting in the judges chambers. During the meeting it was revealed that Rakosky uncovered names on the prosecution’s witness list that he was previously unaware were able to testify. How that relates to the case is unclear, as Sassone has barred both sides from discussing the case with the media. Wolff has also reportedly asked for more time to find a particular witness.
The defense and prosecution later made the formal request to delay the trial in court, which Sassone granted. On February 11, the court will hear motions from the defense requesting both a change of venue and a dismissal of the indictment.
Fat Joe In Fat Debt, Owes New Jersey $145,000 In Back Taxes
Fat Joe is slated to release his eighth solo album this year, a testament to an unusually lengthy rap career. His money, though, may not be so long.
According to internet reports, the real Elephant in the Room might be the near $150,000 deep Joey Crack is in to the tax man.
According to official state documents the rapper (born Joseph Cartagena) owes the IRS $70,000 while his company Terror Squad Productions is back $70,494.52 in taxes.
According to Fat Joe though, he's good for it. Just earlier this month he made an appearance on BET's "Rap City" where he announced that his long-standing beef with mogul 50 Cent has amassed him millions.
"Since I've been beefing with 50 Cent I've become so much richer in my life, so much more millions and keep dropping hit records."
The Elephant in the Room will feature appearances from Diddy, Rick Ross, Fabolous and production from Scott Storch, Cool & Dre, DJ Khaled, Nate "Danja" Hills and The Runners. The project is expected to be released in March 11.
Mike Vick Reality Show??
In a bizarre twist to the Michael Vick dog fighting case, a reality television show is in the works about the infamous canines that made Bad Newz Kennels go round.
Reports have surfaced that National Geographic will follow the rehabilitation efforts of four of the dogs seized at Vick’s former property.
The show, titled Dogtown is currently in production in Utah at Dogtown, the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Utah. Episodes will begin airing this summer
Diddy Gets VH1 Reality Show, Looks For Personal Assistant
If it weren't enough to have a hit reality show on MTV, Sean "Diddy" Combs is launching a new "Apprentice"-like reality TV series for VH1.
The mogul is launching open calls in major cities across the country to find a personal assistant.
The hopefuls will be narrowed down to a lucky pool of 20 go-getters who will compete to win the title of personal assistant to Diddy himself. The reality show will track the 20 finalists as they "compete to win the job of a lifetime," according to the contest's website.
Contestants must be at least 21 years old, have a "whatever it takes attitude" and be on call 24/7.
Though no further information is available as far as the parameters of the position it is fair to assume that it will be a very demanding one. Diddy has made a name for himself as being a tough guy to work for.
In the most recent season of his popular "Making the Band" reality series, Diddy forced the young crooners to trek on foot through five boroughs, sing along the way and bring him back cheesecake.
Open calls will be held in New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Houston, Los Angeles, Boston and Miami. The competition is not limited to residents in these cities though. The nationwide competition is also accepting video submissions of candidates telling why they're the best person for the job.
Check out workfordiddy.com for details on how to apply and a list of open call cities and dates.
Diddy can be seen weekly on "Making the Band 4" Monday nights on MTV at 10 p.m..
Lil' Jon Adds Action Sports Athletes To His BME Click
Lil Jon’s BME Click grows with the addition of pro-skateboarders Greg Lutzka and Ryan Sheckler (from MTV’s ‘Life of Ryan’), pro-snowboarders Danny Kass and Dingo, and pro-surfer Travis Mellem. The entire BME Click, including Lil Jon, was at the X-Games in Aspen – supporting Kass as he competed in the SuperPipe competition this year – and they all welcomed in the Games with a blowout party for the BME Click Grenade Glove at the BME/Oakley House in Aspen on Thursday night.
Lil Jon says, “All of the BME Athletes came together for the preview of the BME Grenade Glove and to support Danny Kass! BME Click was everywhere, from kids rockin’ our bandanas and New Era hats, to athletes riding BME snowboards. It’s always good to be with family, and that’s what X-Games was.”
Kass shares, “When Lil Jon wanted to get into action sports he wanted to pull the illest crew together, and it is an honor to be picked by that man.” Sheckler also adds, “Action sports is taking over, and BME is a part of it. Keep your eyes open and get ready!”
BME Recordings was founded in 2001 by Lil Jon and his partners, and it’s home to both E-40, and Lil’ Scrappy as well. Talib Kweli Confirms Reflection Eternal Reunion Album
Although "Hot Thing" might not have stirred the masses to the tune of previous hits like "Get By" or "Move Something," 2007 saw Talib Kweli with his highest charting debut of his career with Eardrum. Nearly five months after the album's release, Kweli told reporters that he's still working the effort, having recently shot a video for his next single, the Just Blaze-produced "Hostile Gospel," in Nigeria. Of the project, Kweli said, "There were some really great things we learned about this project, and some not-so-great things. Overall, I'm optimistic. This was kind of our proving-ground as a company."
Talib also confirmed his release schedule for the upcoming year, with his Warner Brothers-distributed Blacksmith imprint. "We've got Jean Grae's Jeanius coming, which is not a mixtape, it's album," said the Brooklyn emcee of his next project. Jean, like Crooked I and Tonedeff, also has plans for a Valentine's Day-themed mixtape releasing in two weeks. "We're finishing up that, then I'm really exciting to release this project by Strong Arm Steady." The second project from trio Krondon, Phil Da Agony and Mitchy Slick will mark Blacksmith's first west coast release, as well as the major label debut for the first two artists of the group.
Lastly, Talib Kweli confirmed that he's closing out the year with a reunion with Hi-Tek. "People asked for it, so we got back together, and we're working on that."
Albeit sparse on details, Kweli promised the project to be released before the close of 2008, and revealed that recording was underway.

Lil Wayne Addresses Drug Arrest, Says 'A Junkie Can't Do What The F--- I Do'
Following last week's arrest where he was hit with felony drug and weapons charges, Lil Wayne scrambled to make a show in Richmond, Virginia after appearing in an Arizona courtroom on Friday (January 25), then making the show that night.
He made the show though, but barely -- actually hours late, but made it up to fans with a more than three hour performance.
According to the Richmond Times-Dispatch, Weezy made the stage just before midnight on Friday night, when over 3,500 fans greeted him after waiting several hours for him to arrive.
The paper reports that the rapper's private plane was delayed from leaving Arizona and then had to be re-routed.
When he finally made it on stage, he explained his lateness to the crowd who greeted him with overwhelming support and cheers.
"I just flew in not even 10 minutes ago," he told fans, said the paper. "I just had to deal with a whole lot of bullsh-- today, but I guess you know that. ... I want you to know that none of y'all up in this building have nothing to do with the attitude that I have right now. I'm not the happiest man right now.
"When your friends tell you one thing and they're gonna be there for you and then when you get to that point ... ," Wayne continued as he turned to the small crowd standing behind him onstage. "I just want all the mother----ers that been with me that ain't never gonna be with me to note, I did it for y'all. To the ones that ain't gonna be with me no more, die. Let's start the show."
After moving through songs like "I'm A Dboy" and "Duffle Bag Boy," Wayne left the stage, only to be booed because the fans wanted more. But, just 10 minutes later, he returned. Maybe he was taking a break. But, after, performed for one more hour.
The rapper also used the stage to address the aforementioned drug arrest, saying it's not possible to do the things he does on drugs.
"A junkie can't do what the f--- I do. I try to tell them," he said. "I am the ultimate high, understand? I am my drug, you understand me?"
Lil Wayne is facing three felony drug charges -- including one count each of possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons, not to mention one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The arrest took place on Tuesday (January 22) just outside the city of Yuma, when his tour bus was searched at a Border Patrol checkpoint.
He was taken into custody and held overnight until he was released on $10,000 bond.
Statement Released On Kinfolk Kia Shine/TMI Boyz Altercation
Wendy Day has released a statement on the altercation that took place last night (Jan. 28) at the SEA Awards between Kinfolk Kia Shine and TMI Boyz.
Wendy Day released the following statement:
"Last night's 5th Annual SEA Awards were a wonderful finale to two spectacular days of free panel discussions targeted at independent and up-and-coming artists. Unfortunately, as local rap artist Kinfolk Kia Shine took the stage to present an award, he chose to use the opportunity to air a grievance he had with me (Wendy Day) over something I had said on one of my panels 2 days previous, in which his name was used. He said some very hurtful things about me to a very public forum. I have built my reputation over many years on helping artists, often for free, so it hurt me to hear him say that I had moved to his city and 'raped its artists for money.'
Feeling that he and I should speak, I got up from my seat and moved to the back of the stage area alone, in view of Kia, so that we could talk when he was finished onstage. He chose instead to ignore me and not to acknowledge me until he was standing in front of his crew, where I had followed him. At this point he began screaming at me and because he was angry, he gesticulated wildly with his hands and did alot of pointing. Although I knew that I was not in danger because I have known Kia for many years, members of TMI Boyz are not familiar with him and saw only a very large, very angry man behaving as if he may get violent. They reacted out of an instinct to protect a woman they felt was in danger; a blow was struck and Kia was hit.
Because security had already been summoned to escort Kia out of the building once he had begun shouting at me, the whole affair lasted only minutes and the award show went on without a hitch; we were all quickly back in our seats watching B.O.B. perform his hit "Haters Everywhere" and enjoying the rest of the show.
Overall, the 5th Annual SEA's were outstanding, attracting a record crowd of artists and industry folk to Tunica, MS. The scuffle was unfortunate, but it in no way marred this wonderfully positive event."
Detroit's Mayor Involved In Alleged Sex Scandal
Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatrick -- once known as America's first hip-hop mayor -- got a lot of heat this week after local paper, the Detroit Free Press, published text messages between him and another woman he's allegedly involved in an affair with.
Despite being married with children, Kilpatrick has been linked with his chief of staff, Christine Beatty (who is divorced with children), in the past, but in 2002, insisted under oath there was no affair.
Now with the recent exposure of these text messages, which date back to 2002, he is once again under fire again, and both Kilpatrick and Beatty could face perjury charges.
Kilpatrick and Beatty -- who have known each other since high school -- sent a series of racy text messages to each other on cell phones paid for by the city government. Several of these messages were made public last week by the Detroit Free Press, which has resulted in an investigation commencing by Prosecutor Kim L. Worthy.
In a text message sent in October 2006, by Kilpatrick to Beatty, the mayor said this: "I've been dreaming all day about having you all to myself for three days. Relaxing, laughing, talking, sleeping and making love."
According to NewsWeek.com, in April 2002, rumors emerged just months after Kilpatrick's first term that he had a wild party involving a stripper at the mayoral mansion. During that same time period, Harold Nelthrope (one of the mayor's bodyguards) reported that the mayor's personal police posse was running amuck, crashing cars and racking up overtime. Following the accusations, Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown launched an investigation, which may have uncovered Kilpatrick and Beatty's relationship, but two weeks into his investigation, Brown was fired.
A month later, Brown and Nelthrope both filed a lawsuit against Kilpatrick and the city of Detroit, which went to trial in the summer of 2006. Under oath, the mayor and his alleged mistress denied any relationship. At the end, the city settled with the plaintiffs for $9 million of Detroit taxpayers' money.
Despite a big auto show taking place in the city, everyone is talking about the mayor and citizens are angry.
"He's an embarrassment and now it's proven he's a habitual liar," city union boss John Riehl, told NewsWeek.
The paper reports that Riehl and 900 Detroit workers are planning to picket city hall on Wednesday (January 30) to demand that Kilpatrick resign.
"He's put Detroit's national image in the gutter," Riehl said.
If found guilty of perjury, Kilpatrick would face up to 15 years in prison.
N.E.R.D. Joins Kanye West's Glow In The Dark Tour
Kanye West has historically toured extensively in the summer. Whether it was as an opening act for U2 in 2006, or his appearances at festivals, one of the biggest entertainers in Hip Hop was predicted to do bigger things for the summer tour season. Even lately, as West has appeared in smaller spot dates alongside A-Trak and Kid Sister, many eyes are on summer's epic production shows.
On Kanye's blog, the super-producer and emcee indicated that longtime supporters N.E.R.D. will be joining him on this summer's Glow In The Dark Tour. The trio of Pharrell Williams, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley is said to be finishing up their third album, N.3.R.D. The group has taken a four-year hiatus from their previous two gold efforts.
The tour, as of last May, was also said to feature choreography from Jamie King of Madonna fame. West, an admitted frequent concert goer of the legendary Pop star, said that he was so moved by Madonna's stage show that he wanted the direction for himself.
It is likely that G.O.O.D. Music acts Common, Consequence, Malik Yusef and others would also be part of the tour, though no formal details have been released

Special 3-D glasses will be distributed through different outlets to allow for home viewing of the clip which will debut on MTV’s TRL on February 4. The clip will also be shown during a special February 5 screening of Step Up To the Streets, the sequel to the 2006 dance movie Step Up.

Harve Pierre Named President of Bad Boy Records
Harve Pierre, the longtime Bad Boy executive and right hand man to Sean “Diddy” Combs, has been appointed President of the company.
Pierre, who met Combs while they were both students at Howard University started at Bad Boy in 1993 as an intern. He steadily rose through the ranks and was promoted to Senior VP of A&R in 1998, and then Executive VP and General Manager in 2003. As president, Pierre will oversee the finance, creative, promotional, marketing, A&R, International, and Sales divisions at the label.
He will also be launching his own imprint, Crazy Joint Entertainment, that will develop talent for Bad Boy. In a statement released today, Diddy praised Pierre for his years of service and congratulated him on his new position. “Harve’s promotion to President is well deserved” says Combs “he has been with Bad Boy since the beginning and has worked hard to learn all aspects of the business. He has always been an important part of the A&R process and it is only fitting that Bad Boy would house his imprint, Crazy Joint. I look forward to Harve’s continued success.”
Throughout his carrer, Pierre has served as executive producer on over 50 Bad Boy albums and helped guide the careers of artists such as The Notorious B.I.G., Total, 112 and Boyz N Da Hood.
During the 1990’s, working under the stage name Joe Hooker, Pierre contributed vocals to a variety of albums and songs, including Black Rob’s “I Dare You” and Lil Cease’s “Play Around"
Instead, he sent an A&R from Def Jam out to Philly last week to deliver the bad news. “Which was a hoe move, to me. You could tell us some shit like that face to face,” said Peedi. “Niggas like Beanie Sigel and Freeway and Oschino and Sparks and Chris and Neef…they been there for almost 10 years.”
Peedi goes on to say that he’s not 100% sure which other artists were dropped, criptically claiming that “he kept one person.” However, he also says that the A&R who gave them their walking papers said, “There’s no more Roc-A-Fella. Everyone’s free to leave.”
While he could not speak for the other artists, Peedi said that he’s happy about being dropped because he was tired of dealing with his album being delayed. “You won’t hear no Peedi Crakk diss songs,” he says.
(L note: Now this is a report from MediaTakeout which is one of the biggest gossip out. So until this is confirmed you have to take it as just that "Gossip". But the Roc hasnt been the same since "The Break-Up", so this is a possibilty. but like I always say "Your opinion matters mine dosent".So what do ya'll think?)
According to the New York Post, Criminal Court Judge Melissa Jackson denied the request Thursday (Jan. 24). Foxy had been requesting that she be let out of jail early so she could visit a specialist in Los Angeles in regards to her high tech hearing aid.
The judge denied the request stating that Foxy had failed to provide sufficient medical proof that she needed to visit the doctor. Foxy will now stay in custody until her anticipated April 20 release from Rikers Island.
Foxy will be given the opportunity to seek out a local specialist who can provide treatment at Rikers or at one of two New York City area hospitals.

Def Jam Reinforces Nas, Nas Says The Recession Is good For Hip Hop
A rep for Def Jam records has come forward to put rumors of a Nas firing to rest.
Last week, an "industry insider" claimed Def Jam records was preparing to drop Nas if he didn't change the name of his forthcoming LP, Nigger, to something more politically correct.
However, according to recent reports, the label is standing behind the controversial rapper in full force.
"That is absolutely ridiculous and untrue," an Island Def Jam spokesperson spoke of the rumors.
Nas, who has one more album left with the label (Nigger), says he is satisfied with the way things are being handled.
In a recent interview with XXL Magazine, Nas says that though many artists aren't happy with the Def Jam, the problem lies on the industry as a whole and hopes that that the recession will bring the best out of everyone.
"I can’t find too many people that’s happy anywhere in the state of the business right now."
"The marketplace is bad right now. If you want to do big, real business, you’ll wait ’til the market gets better. That’s not my mission right now… Since I said “hip-hop is dead,” I think a lot of niggas is starting to take this shit serious. It ain’t about sales no more. When Kanye killed 50, it was to show you this shit is about something real now. No diss to no rappers I’m talking about right now, but it ain’t about just selling no more. I said hip-hop is dead, and if that helped, then I’m a bad muthafucka. You can’t take that from me. And I feel like this record is the next chapter, going into something bigger. It’s a recession… People are going back to being humble again. Because everybody is not gonna get a big multimillion-dollar advance." Said Nas.
"People do what they do. I ain’t knocking nobody. But I know one thing: This recession that’s going on—everywhere, not just hip-hop—is gonna produce better artists." He continued.
You can check out the entire feature in the latest issue of XXL Magazine on news stands everywhere.
Young Buck Re-Aligns With Cash Money Records?
Young Buck and Lil Wayne have had a turbulent relationship over the last 10 years. Buck began his career signed to Cash Money Records, as an artist closely associated with Juvenile and UTP. After leaving the label around the same time as the New Orleans mentor, Buck found tremendous success with 50 Cent and G-Unit Records.
A rivalry developed in recent years, as Lil Wayne thinly-veiled his distaste for G-Unit, wearing "G-Unot" t-shirts and saying subliminal lines, something that Tony Yayo and 50 Cent are known for. The dislike came to heads when in numerous press interviews, Young Buck admitted that during his tenure at Cash Money Records, he had witnessed Lil Wayne kiss men on the mouth several times, after a photograph of Wayne and Birdman surfaced. 50 Cent's "Fully Loaded Clip" also alleged that Young Buck and Trina, may have had relations simultaneous to her and Wayne's lengthy courtship.
Strangely, Lil Wayne and Young Buck appeared on stage together at Memorial Auditorium in Chatanooga, Tennessee this past Saturday. Allegedly, during that concert, Young Buck told the audience that he was "resigning to Cash Money."
If true, the move comes after grumblings of anger within G-Unit over poor promotion and marketing of last year's Buck The World. Critically hailed, the effort was hardly worked after the summer campaign for Curtis began, limiting the effort of the previously platinum rapper to gold status.
Equally, Cash Money Records had also recent claimed to have signed Tha Dogg Pound, a report that was later denied by Kurupt and Daz.
Rock Revived By Attempted Murder Charge
Rock has made a name for himself as a member of New York's Boot Camp crew and one-half of rap duo Heltah Skeltah, but he's recently made headlines for being hit with an attempted murder charge.
As previously reported, Rock was arrested for attempted murder last Tuesday (Jan. 15) for allegedly working as a pimp and gunning down a rival in a dispute over a prostitute. He was released on $125,000 bail this Thursday (Jan. 24).
"It's just a motherf*cker talking some sh*t basically and that's the bottom line," Rock said. "We don't know why, and if we did, we wouldn't be able to say why. It's just an unfortunate situation that's working out kind of fortunately, because to a certain extent, I ain't been talked about this much in hip-hop since [Heltah Skeltah's debut] Nocturnal."
If there is a silver lining in getting arrested, it's that people are talking during a time when the so-called Rockness Monstah has several releases on the horizon, including his solo mix CD Shell Shock, which is scheduled to drop next month.
"It's a beautiful monstrosity as I like to call it," he said. "You know how I rap. I keeps it gritty, I keeps it ugly, but it's put together so beautifully, and it's off the chain."
The rap vet is also working on a movie titled Gotta Get Mines in which he plays a "tough guy," and is reuniting with Sean Price aka Ruck for the summer album D.I.R.T. (Da Incredible Rap Team), Heltah Skeltah's first release since 1998.
"D.I.R.T. - that acronym is so self-explanatory, you understand what I'm saying," he said. "The incredible rap team. Me and Ruck, I don't know, it's like havin' two Jordans on the same team, or Kobe and LeBron on the same team, something stupid like that ... and it's like, it's just so powerful that we have to be careful with it."
Rock also has plans to release the solo CD Monstah Music, which has been in the works for several years. He expects to be back in court within a month and said he looks forward to making the facts known; in the meantime, his focus is on his career and he maintains that his mind state is positive.
"[I feel] extremely blessed," he said. "I've been locked up for things that I haven't done before. I see it happen a lot of time ... So knowing these kinds of things and also being in trouble before, falsely accused for things smaller than that in my own lifetime - never anything this big - just having gone through this experience, I feel blessed that this happened and I'm here. Because n*ggas getting lost behind bullsh*t like this."
Law Firm Doubles Reward Offer For Info On Murder Of R&B Singer
Hupy & Abraham, a Milwaukee based law firm that offered a $2,500 reward for anyone with information in the unsolved slaying of R&B singer Yolanda “LaLa” Brown, has doubled its offer to $5,000.
As reported earlier, LaLa and her boyfriend, producer JetAnnue Clayborn, were found dead in Loud Enuff Productionz studio in Milwaukee on October 19th.
Authorities said the couple had gunshot wounds and had been dead for at least a day before their bodies were discovered.
LaLa (21) and Clayborn (22) had lived in the studio for three months. LaLa had a 5 year old daughter and Clayborn had a 2 year old son. To date, no arrests have been made in the case and no suspects have been named.
“[Someone] may not have direct knowledge, but they may have heard conversations or had conversations with the person or persons responsible,” Lt. Bill Jessup of the Milwaukee Police told The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel “If they call us, that information would be very helpful in solving the case.”
3 days before the couple's bodies were found, Clayborn, who owned and operated the studio, filed a police report claiming the studio was robbed for over $9000 worth of studio equipment including ‘keyboards, speakers, a microphone, computers and a mixing board.’
Anyone with information is asked to call police at (414) 935-7360.
LaLa is well known for collaborating with Lyfe Jennings on his hit single “S.E.X”. She also made an appearance in the song’s video.
Ludacris Sued for Alleged Song Theft
Three producers from Chester, Pa have filed a lawsuit against Ludacris that claims the superstar MC swiped one their ideas for a song.
According to the Philadelphia Inquirer, Anthony Turner, Damon Mayfield and Markus Vick—known as the Boogii Men Entertainment Group—filed the suit in U.S. District Court in Philly last week. The suit claims that the Boogii Men sent a beat CD called Boogii Men Beats Volume 1 to Luda’s Disturing Tha Peace label back in 2004 but were brushed off when they reached out to see if there was any interest in any of their tracks.
The trio claims that when the rapper dropped his next album six months later, The Red Light District, they noticed similarities between one of their tracks and the song “Get Back.”
It is unclear whether or not the men are asking for an injunction against sales of the CD, or the amount of any punitive or compensatory damages sought.
Their attorney, James A. Wells of Haines & Associates, declined to comment on the case to the Inquirer.
Diddy Still Diddy, Denies Name Change
Despite previous reports, Diddy is keeping his Diddy moniker.
In a statement released Friday (January 25), Diddy's camp denied reports that he would be officially changing his moniker -- via a report from the New York Post -- to Sean John.
"Recent reports of a name change are totally false, he is still Diddy. He is currently in 'Sean John' mode as the upcoming Sean John fashion show is scheduled for February 8th in New York," a spokesperson for Diddy (real name: Sean Combs).
In the past, Diddy had changed his moniker from Puff Daddy to P. Diddy, then to just Diddy. It looks like the Diddy name will stay for at least a little while longer.
Mary J. Blige Brings The Drama To Daytime TV
Mary J. Blige is slated to appear on daytime soap opera "One Life To Live," and Snoop Dogg is trying to get his paws on the action.
A source told The New York Post that Mary just wrapped two Valentine's episode tapings of the popular soap. The show features Mary singing two songs at the surprise birthday party for character Starr Manning, daughter of the town's millionaire villain.
Snoop has his own reality TV show Father Hood on E! but the Dogfather is also a big fan of scripted daytime drama.
The rapper called the show when he heard of Mary's appearance and offered to write and perform a new theme song for the daytime drama.
Snoop's involvement isn't a go yet, but the show's supervising music director seems hopeful
"I'm a huge fan of Snoop and I'd love to hear what he'd come up with," said Paul Glass.
Mary's episodes of One Life to Live will air Feb. 15 and 18.
'American Gangster' Wins At The SAG Awards
Snubbed by the Oscars, American Gangster faired slightly better for recognition at the Screen Actor's Guild Awards last night (Jan 27).
The Denzel Washington flick based on the true story of '70s Harlem heroin king Frank Lucas was slighted at the Oscars, with not a single nomination as a film while Washington was passed over for a Best Actor nod.
Ruby Dee's performance though continues to garner accolades. Dee played Lucas' mother in Gangster and was nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscars.
She won that same category at the SAG Awards, beating out Cate Blanchett in I'm Not There, Catherine Keener in Into the Wild, Amy Ryan in Gone Baby Gone and Tilda Swinton in Michael Clayton.
American Gangster was also up for the SAG ensemble cast prize -- with notable appearances by Russell Crowe and rappers T.I., Common and The Rza -- but lost out to No Country For Old Men.
The SAG Awards went on despite the fact the Writer's Guild of America is currently on strike. The organization granted the awards ceremony a waiver to proceed without picketing. The Golden Globes show was nixed after the Guild denied the awards show a waiver, with actors saying they wouldn't cross a WGA picket line to attend.
Jim Jones To Release "Harlem's American Gangster" Feb. 19th
Jim Jones will release his new mixtape, Harlem’s American Gangster on KOCH Records, which hits streets on February 19th, 2008. The mixtape is hosted by Dame Dash and features the entire Byrdgang crew.
Jim Jones is currently recording a new album which will be released later this summer via Columbia/KOCH.
Jones’ latest album, Hustler’s P.O.M.E. (Product of My Environment), was released in 2006 and sold over 500,000 copies and includes the anthem and Jim’s signature song, “We Fly High,” which has sold over 3.5 million digital and ringtone units combined.
Harlem’s American Gangtser was previously available on a limited basis, but the mixtape has been completely remixed/re-mastered and also features new songs, including the track "Rockefeller Laws." When asked about this latest inspiration, Jones had this to say, “Some people do soundtracks to the movies about Harlem, we do soundtracks to the streets of Harlem, which made us who we are today. Hustlers are some of the flyest people the world has ever set their eyes on.”
The first single “Love Me No More” is at urban radio now and a video for the single will be shot shortly. It will be once again co-directed by Jim Jones and RAGE, who also directed the smash videos for "We Fly High" and the "We Fly High" REMIX.
Keyshia Cole Talks Role In ''How She Move''
Keyshia Cole recently talked about prepping a new album, a final season of Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, and her guest appearance in the movie How She Move.
"They called my management and asked them if we could come down to LA to the lot and see the movie to see if I was at all interested in doing it," she said.
Cole was handpicked to appear in the coming of age dance movie, How She Move, which hits theatres nationwide today (Jan. 25). Keyshia was definitely interested and though her role was small - she plays herself in the film - she was excited to take part.
"At the end, I'm hosting the Step Monster competition that the main characters are all going to be in."
Though she enjoyed appearing in How She Move the singer has no immediate plans to do more movies unless the right role comes along.
"Not anytime soon," she says. "Recently they haven't really been giving me roles that I'm willing to accept. It has to be true to my character, true to who I really am."
Keyshia is interested in doing one last season of her hit BET show Keyshia Cole: The Way It Is, which documents her struggle to overcome her troubled past.
"I feel like the first [season] was what the situation was and the second [season] was our transformation," she said. "The third [season] would have to be the verdict."
In addition, Keyshia is preparing for her next album and eyeing a fourth quarter release.
"I'm writing down ideas now, just what I feel like the album should be about," she says. "This is the first time I've actually done that so that should be fun. They want it out by Christmas."
