According to The New York Times Gossip Blogger Perez hilton is in Negotiations to receive his own imprint at Warner Brothers Records.
Hilton,(Real name:Mario Lavandeira)who's blog perezhilton.com has a monthly readership of 2.8 million visitors a month, is said to be receiving $100,000 a year as an advance against 50 percent of any profits generated by artists he discovers and releases through Warner Brothers.
Apparently he's worth it.
Back in September of 2007 a then unsigned singer-songwriter Eric Hutchinson had his song posted on Lavandeira site. Eric Hutchinson’s album then went on to crack the Top 10 on iTunes, an impressive feat for an artist with no label backing.
Another band, Ultraviolet Sound ,had their music posted on his site and had the number of visitors to their myspace page almost triple.
In fact In a recent study conducted by researchers at the Stern School of Business at New York University, an examination of 108 albums that hit record shops in early 2007 saw that those that had been the subjects of 40 blog posts before their release date had sales of triple the average.
The question now is if Perez works for Warner Brothers can he still remain impartial?
Hilton says yes. In an interview last month, he said he would still have the freedom to post about artists on other labels and had no obligation to praise acts on Warner Brothers’ roster.
“I’m upfront with them,” he said. “They can’t tell me what to do. If I hate one of their artists, chances are I won’t mention them.”
As far as his label, Hilton says “its not a vanity project.”
“I’m really going to be actively involved in it,” he added.
He said he wanted to keep the names of acts he hoped to sign to himself for now, but hopes thought his partnership he could validate the role that blogs play in the music business.

According to The New York Times Gossip Blogger Perez hilton is in Negotiations to receive his own imprint at Warner Brothers Records.
Despite recent rumors that have been spreading all over the net Papoose says that his engagement to rapper Remy Ma is false.
Although, he did not deny that the two do "share a friendship," Papoose strictly went on record stating: "It's not true. [We're] friends."
As previously reported, the assault trial for Remy is officially underway as jury selection began on March 6th in New York. Remy is facing assault and related charges for allegedly shooting a woman twice in the abdomen, last summer. Clearly shaken up from the thought of Remy's situation, Papoose refused to comment on the trial.
In other news, there has been speculation that 50 Cent has expressed interest in signing Papoose to his G-Unit imprint. Neither confirming nor denying the courtship, the Brooklyn rapper did express his respect for Mr. Jackson's empire.
"50 Cent is an incredible entrepreneur," Papoose said. "He brings a lot to the table in hip-hop. What [G-Unit] put down in hip-hop, I don't think nobody's did in a long time. I respect them a lot. Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, the whole team. Those are my dudes over there. Who can't respect what they've brought to the game? You got to be a damn fool not to or you're just a hater. Them dudes are consistent man. That's all I have to say about them."
Although, Papoose did not reveal who he's been in talks with, he stated that there are a few opportunities available.
"I'm exploring my options and I have a lot of options right now," Papoose confirms. "Since I finally got my release from Jive. The only hold up was that I didn't have my full release. Now that I got my release I'm exploring my options."
With the ongoing war of words over the altercation between Papoose and Fat Joe, still raging on Papoose gave his latest assessment of the situation.
"One of the reasons why I think the reaction is so big is because I think a lot of people really dislike this dude," Pap explains. "They're tired of him trying to throw his weight around. If you listen to how he talks to a lot of the radio personalities, it's just no respect. This rap sh*t really went to this dudes head, man," he continues. "He really thinks that he's above and that he's bigger and badder than everybody, but he's really the cowardly lion. It's all a facade. And I think a lot of people are like finally someone put this dude in his place."
(L note: So now Pap is denying what Remy reportedly stated just 2 days ago. With using words phrases like "share a friendship," and "[We're] friends." Hmmmmm, So the female says its more serious then the male?? Sounds like a case of somebody not realizing that they are a jump) Read more here
Lil Wayne's Lawyer Seeks Lesser Drug Charge For Rapper's Arizona Bust
A lawyer representing Lil Wayne today (March 7) filed a motion in Yuma County Superior Court asking for the rapper's drug possession charge to be reduced.
As reported earlier, Wayne was arrested in Yuma, Arizona last month after authorities found four ounces of marijuana, over an ounce of cocaine, 41 grams of ecstasy and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia in a bus he was traveling in.
A .40-caliber pistol registered to the New Orleans rapper was also found on the bus.
Wayne would be charged with possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of dangerous drugs, misconduct involving weapons and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to The Associated Press, Wayne’s lawyer, James Tilson, revealed Friday that the original complaint given to the grand jury stated that the rapper was in possession of about 29 grams of cocaine.
Tilson argues that a lab report shows that Wayne was in possession of less than eight grams of cocaine, without including the weight of the packaging.
Arizona stipulates that possession of nine grams or more means intent to sell. Tilson divulged that reducing the charges could mean the difference betwee n jail time and probation for his client.
A May 13 hearing was scheduled on the motion to remand the case back to the grand jury.
Cassidy Says ''I Wouldn't Set Papoose Up''
Cassidy recently called into New York radio station Hot 97 to set the record straight on his role in the altercation that occurred between Fat Joe and Papoose.
As previously reported, Joey Crack and Papoose got into a fight at a North Carolina hotel prior to performing at a concert last weekend. While nobody knows what exactly happened - and who came out victorious in the scuffle - Hot 97's Miss Jones spoke to Cassidy in hopes to get the details from an unbiased eyewitness.
In several interviews throughout the week Papoose has said that he believes Cassidy set him up, asking him to hang out in his hotel room knowing that Fat Joe would later show up and start trouble. Joe denied the claims saying he knocked on everyone's door in the hotel until he found him.
Cassidy told Miss Jones that he had no ill intentions when inviting the mixtape phenom to his room; he was just trying to make connections with the rapper to possibly work with him in the future.
"We were all staying at the same hotel," Cass explained. "So it's not like I called Papoose from his home and then something happened to him or I called him from far away and he walked into a unfamiliar area. We were staying in the same hotel on the same floor. Me, Fat Joe and Papoose. So I definitely wouldn't set Papoose up... it definitely wasn't my fault I was just reaching out, trying to communicate, trying to build relationships."
"That was actually my first time actually conversating with Papoose when I seen him in a hotel," he added. "I ran into him a couple of times and seen his face, but I never got a chance to bust it up with him or communicate with him. And being to the fact that he's up and coming and he's doing his thing and he's definitely got a little buzz, I wanted to build a relationship and hopefully we could have did a song or something in the future."
When asked if he was in the room when Fat Joe and Papoose actually came to blows, Cassidy said that he had already excused himself from the room.
"I wasn't even paying attention because at that point I excused myself from the room," he said. "...I was there but when the fight actually broke out I was at the door with my people and in the hallway with them and Papoose had his people with him, I want y'all to know that. Papoose wasn't by himself. He had six, seven or eight people in the hotel with him. Probably like two or three people floating in and out of the room so Fat Joe came in with his people."
Cass said if he known that they had a beef beforehand he would have tried to mediate the fight.
"I don't know what the beef is over," he told Miss Jones. "If I knew it was a beef already I could have jumped up and tried to neutralize the situation. Like 'don't blow it out of proportion' or 'don't do it in there.' Due to the fact that they were on the radio the night before Fat Joe felt some type of way. I didn't know about that. I was on the road traveling around doing my shows. So I didn't know about the radio situation and I didn't know that Joe had a problem with Papoose."
For future reference Cass wants to make one thing clear about the situation.
"When I'm building a relationship with a rapper or with anybody in the world I want them to feel safe around me," Cass said before ending his interview, "I don't want them to feel that I'm a shiesty dude that would set someone up."
DJ Whoo Kid Set To Retire
G-Unit’s highly acclaimed DJ Whoo Kid has prepared his retirement from the mixtape business and the world of hip-hop.
The Queens native expressed his intentions and the shady actions behind the music industry, specifically in the realm of hip-hop.
“I can’t take it anymore. Hip-hop is a violent, ruthless business. When you’re popping, they have ways of deading you. I just want to be the one to dead my career,” Whoo Kid said.
He also explained the amount of work needed for the industry and his appearance as factors to his retirement.
“It’s a lot of work. I can’t do it. I’m very tired [and] I’m not trying to be an old DJ wearing a chain with a tight shirt,” Whoo Kid said.
To further illustrate the seriousness of his retirement, Whoo Kid explained his plan to leave the U.S.
“I’m moving to Thailand. I already got everything planned. I got a house in Hawaii and I’m moving to Thailand,” he said.
Although he will be releasing the second volume of G-Unit’s ThisIs50.com series, "The Elephant in the Sand," Whoo Kid has maintained that he does not have plans on furthering his mixtapes.
Despite the withdrawal from mixtape outlet, he will continue business ventures with an emphasis on television, radio, and marketing through his Shadyville Entertainment company.
Until Whoo Kid finally puts the DJ set up for good, he may still be heard on Shade 45’s G-Unit Radio show and seen in his own entertainment magazine, POW!.
Snoop Dogg, Priority Records Ordered To Settle $2 Million Suit
Los Angeles Superior Court judge told attorneys for rapper Snoop Dogg and his former label, Priority Records, that they have three weeks to settle a dispute brought forth by Snoop or it will go to trial.
According to the Associated Press, the rapper (real name: Cordozar Calvin Broadus) filed a lawsuit against Priority in 2006 claiming he is owed $2 million in royalties and $950,000 advance money from his 2000 album, Tha Last Meal.
Judge Helen I. Bendix issued the ruling after both sides revealed they were close to agreeing on a settlement, but still needed more time.
Snoop also claims that the label released a greatest hits album without his consent Priority countered that Snoop waited to long to file the suit and has asked that it be tossed on those grounds.
Both parties are now due back in court on March 26 for a status report in which the judge may either schedule a trial-setting conference or refer the case to the Superior Court's Alternative Dispute Resolution program.

The Notorious B.I.G. has finally ended, as Fox Searchlight has hired Brooklyn-based rapper Jamal Woolard to play the part in the upcoming biopic "Notorious."
According to Reuters, the film will be directed by George Tillman Jr. ("Soul Food"), and goes into production this month.
Among the other parts cast are Sean "Diddy" Combs, played by Derek Luke ("Catch a Fire"); Biggie's mother Voletta Wallace, played by Angela Bassett ("Akeelah and the Bee"); and Tupac Shakur, played by Anthony Mackie ("Brother to Brother").
Production held an open casting call last fall to find someone to play the late Biggie, in hopes to find a non-actor who could rap and imitate Biggie, rather than a professional actor who might need to be taught how to rap.
Woolard, also known as Gravy, has released a few albums, though he may be best known for being shot before a radio appearance outside of New York's Hip Hop radio station Hot 97 two years ago - after which he proceeded with the interview.
Voletta Wallace chose Woolard due to what she described as "Jamal's charming personality, warm spirit, wonderful sense of humor and beautiful smile...He is a talented and charismatic actor, and I am excited that he will bring Christopher's character to life."

After rumors rang out last week regarding a physical altercation between New York rappers Papoose and Fat Joe--both rappers have now confirmed the scuffle which stemmed from Papoose's actions during 50 Cent's take over of NYC's Power 105.1 radio station.
According to initial rumors, Fat Joe confronted Papoose before a performance at The Criquet Arena in North Carolina. As the story goes, Cassidy, who was also set to perform along with Fat Joe, Papoose, Gucci Mane and Yo Gotti, had asked Papoose to come to his room so they could talk. Once Pap arrived, Fat Joe, accompanied by nine men stormed the room. Words were exchanged and a fight broke out.
Though Joe and Papoose have different accounts of the scuffle, both rappers have now confirmed the melee did in fact occur.
In an interview with San Francisco's KMEL on Monday (March 3), Papoose confirmed the fight rumors, adding that he put "work in" on Fat Joe.
"I'm from Brooklyn, New York, man. We don't bow down to nobody, we don't take no BS from nobody," the rapper said. "This dude came at me sideways, chose to approach me with a bunch of bodyguards and all that, asked me did I have a problem with him. I asked him did he have a problem with me. We got into a scuffle, I did what I did, man. I put my work in."
"I asked the dude for a fair one, Fat Joe," he continued. "
"I told him 'Yo, listen man, let all your mans step outside, my two mans -- I only had two dudes with me, he had like nine or ten with him -- and me and you do the one on one. He didn't wanna do that. He refused to do that. So we just got it on like that. I got it on with all them dudes. Don't deny the facts. He can't deny the fact that I put my work in."
Fat Joe then confirmed the scuffle and gave his own account of the confrontation.
"The point is this, when you on the radio... with 50 Cent, you laughing and he's disrespecting Fat Joe, you in the background heheheing and hahahaing, and your wife is Remy Ma and she's disrespecting Fat Joe on radio and you over there hehehehahaha, and I see you the next day, then I got no choice but you ask you 'Do we got a problem?'," Joe explained.
"So, [Papoose] acted like he might've had a problem. So, Tigger, to tell you the truth, I actually felt sorry for the kid after I gave him the beats. So, I had to explain to him why he got the beats, after..."
Lloyd recently revealed that he and New Orleans native Lil' Wayne are considering recording an album together.
The two previously joined forces on Lloyd's hit song "You," which helped propel his 2007 album Street Love to certified gold status.
In a recent interview with Rhapsody Lloyd shared news that the two will be joining forces again on his upcoming album, and while they were recording the new song he says the two talked of a possible joint album.
"So I come out the booth," Lloyd told Rhapsody of the studio experience. "Weezy go in and do about 38 bars. The beat cuts off and he's still rapping. He's just killing it and I'm saying to myself, 'Oh this dude is incredible. I gotta work with this dude for real.' And from there, we started our relationship. We've even talked about doing an album together and calling it Best of Young Worlds."
When reminded that Omarion and Bow Wow recently teamed on a similar concept, Lloyd was careful to distinguish a difference between Face Off and the potential Best of Young Worlds project.
"Lloyd and Lil' Wayne is a different kind of intensity from Bow Wow and Omarion," Lloyd said. "We appeal to a much older crowd, and we a little bit more hardcore with our style. But yeah, we definitely thinking about it."

As boxing and WWE fans eagarly await Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s match-up against the Big Show at WrestleMania XXIV on March 30 in Orlando, Florida, Mayweather continues to add on to that hype.
As he did in the Mayweather/De La Hoya bout, 50 Cent has been enlisted by his boxing friend to escort him to the ring against 7-foot-plus Paul "Big Show" Wight. He decided this during a recent radio interview.
On Friday (February 29), Mayweather appeared on New York radio station Power 105.1, which was being hosted by 50 Cent, where he asked 50 for a favor.
"I'd like for you to bring me out [at Wrestlemania]," the superstar boxer said.
In response, Fiddy said, "I'm coming. I'm coming."
As mentioned, 50 escorted Mayweather to the ring to face Oscar De La Hoya in May 2007, while performing his single "I Get Money," and now, 50 will help his friend out once again.
According to MTV, on "WWE Raw" recently, Mayweather appeared via satellite and told the Big Show, "I'm willing to die at "WrestleMania"! Are you?" He then went on to promise the 300 pound plus wrestler that he'd break his jaw when they face-off.
The match at the end of this month will be their second time squaring off in the ring. Last month, Mayweather and the Big Show had their first confrontation during WWE's pay-per-view special "No Way Out." After getting on his knees to let the much smaller Mayweather take a free hit, the Show's nose was broken in a swift Floyd hook.
Mayweather is being paid a reported $20 million for his participation at WrestleMania XXIV
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has decided to retire.
Farve told ESPN's Chris Mortensen in a voice mail message that said: "I know I can still play, but it's like I told my wife, I'm just tired mentally. I'm just tired,"
And so ends the 17 year career of one of the most decorated quarterbacks in NFL history. Brett Farve holds almost every NFL passing record imaginable. Most TD passes (442), Most passing yards (61,655), Most QB wins by starter(160),and Most consecutive regular season starts (253).
There has been alot of speculation that the real reason farve retired is because the packers failed to sign All pro wide receiver, former Oakland Raider, Randy Moss for a second year.
Farve however says "This is not about the Packers and who they got or who they didn't get. I get along fine with [Thompson] and I get along great with [McCarthy]. Do I agree with them all the time? No. But the bottom line is, none of that stuff affected my decision."
In the next couple of days, there will be multiple Brett Farve tributes and highlight films, with mutiple sportscasters proclaiming the 3 time league MVP was one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time, and a sure first ballot hall of famer.
Brett Farve will go down as one of the greatest players not just quarterbacks of all time, the way he played the game, thru good times and bad, he is an example of how superstar athletes should play.

Daughter Of Rapper Juvenile Killed By Teen Brother In the current issue of XXL magazine, Snoop, “the only muthafucka that can do porno, coach football and have a cooking show”, openly admitted to having others write songs for him on his forthcoming album, Ego Trippin. “My boy Shawty Red wrote the song,” he reveals during the interview. Bone Thugs Ordered to Pay Promoter $205,000 for Missed Shows According to KNBC 4 in L.A., World Mix Entertainment filed suit against the group after they missed two December 2006 concert dates in Nagoya and Okinawa. A Georgia teen was arrested on Friday (February 29) and charged with killing his mother, who was a sheriff's deputy, and his two small sisters.
According to reports, 17-year-old Anthony Tyrone Terrell Jr. allegedly gunned his mother, 39-year-old Joy Deleston, and his two small sisters -- 11-year-old Micaiah and 4-year-old Jelani.
Jelani was the daughter of rapper Juvenile.
It is not immediately known the relationship Juve (real name: Terius Gray) had with his daughter. In 203, the rapper was arrested for abandonment of a dependent child after a DNA test determined he was the father.
Terrell, a sophomore at Central Gwinnett High School, has been charged with three counts of murder and three counts of aggravated assault.
He is currently being held in the DeKalb County Jail without bail.
The Game Begins Serving 60-Day Jail Sentence
The Game has turned himself to begin serving a 60-day jail sentence on Sunday (March 2), according to published reports.
The rapper (real name: Jayceon Taylor) received the sentence as a part of a plea deal in which he pleaded no contest to felony possession of a firearm in a school zone recently, while two other charges -- making criminal threats and exhibiting a firearm in the presence of a peace officer -- were dismissed.
The charges stem from a 2007 pick-up basketball game at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex near his old Compton neighborhood where Game alleged pulled a gun on another player following a fight between the two.
During the incident, the rapper had gotten angry, punched the other player, and then headed to his vehicle to grab a pistol before threatening to kill him.
In addition to the 60-day sentence, The Game also received 150 hours of community service -- which he will begin serving once released -- and three years probation.
In other Game news, the rapper is expected to drop a new mixtape, titled Am I My Brother's Keeper?, shortly before his third solo album, LAX, hit stores.
Lil' Wayne On His Addiction To Syrup ; "Everybody Wants Me To Stop, But It's Not That Easy"
After multiple appearances of the infamous Styrofoam cup attached to Weezy's hand, it's sparked up some debates as to the contents of the cup.
When it was announced that the fatal drink played a key role in the death of Texas legend Pimp C, Weezy felt the need to state his addiction to it.
Following urges by friends and family, particularly his mother, to quit downing the lethal drink, Wayne responded by saying that quitting feels like "death".
"It ain't that easy - feels like death in your stomach when you stop doing that shit. You gotta learn how to stop, you gotta go through detox. You gotta do all kinds of stuff. Like I said, I'm a selfish-ass nigga. I feel like everything I do is successful and productive. It's gonna be hard to tell me I'm slipping. It's hard to sit and tell a nigga 'Stop. Fuck, how can we tell this nigga to stop when every fucking thing he do is successful? This nigga is making progress. He just went and talked to kids and that shit was amazing.' Feel me? So what am I doing wrong?" Wayne vented in a recent interview with MTV.
Despite the frequent requests for him to stop the use of syrup, Weezy says it's pushing him to want to do more.
"It's inspiring me, but I'mma tell them now they better stop. Cause they [are trying to] push me off the edge. If I jump, I'm taking the world with me. That's my word."
Wayne stated in the same interview.
Nas' Nigger Album Still On Course For April Release
Nas's forthcoming album is causing quiet a stir. Not only is the title causing controversy, but so is it's tentative April release date.
Recently, even Def Jam chairman Antonio "L.A." Reid expressed doubt on the albums April 22nd release date saying "We'll have to see, hopefully we'll get it in April or May."
A rep for the Queens Bridge MC has finally cleared up the mist.
"Nas is currently putting the final touches on the highly anticipated new album," Tracy Nguyen explained.
"He has not played any music yet for press, but is looking forward to doing so very, very soon."
Nguyen also put the rumors of a Nas/Jay-Z collabo album to rest, saying
"We've heard the rumors as well, and can confirm that Nas is only focused right now on his forthcoming solo release."
The album is still on track for an April 22 release, and is still titled "Nigger."
Snoop Reveals He Has Ghostwriters
If Hip Hop was a religion, an MC not writing his own rhymes might be considered blasphemous. Unlike other genres of music, MCs who typically spit raps written by others have been chastised (though Diddy and Dr. Dre seem to have gotten a pass).
Now, with his super stardom bigger than ever, Snoop Dogg challenges the status quo.
“I was watching Diana Ross get inducted into a Hall of Fame, and she got up there and named all of these great songwriters. Her biggest songs were written by somebody else,” Snoop says about the switch. “So I’m thinking, Wow, there’s nothing wrong with my pen, but I’m going to let other people write for me.”
The revelation may come as a shock to fans of the Dogg Father, but fans may be shocked further upon learning that one of the most creative songs to hit radio in some time, "Sensual Seduction", is one of the tracks Snoop didn’t pen himself.
He goes on to possibly violate another of Hip Hop’s commandments by stating that he’s not into rapping as much as he used to be.
“I was probably a little doper back then,” he says when asked about 1993. “Right now I’m into creating a lot of shit. Back then, I was just into rap—the style, the flow, fucking you up, the baddest muthafucka, the coldest vocalist.”
Snoop also discusses the late 2Pac’s final days and sets the record straight on his involvement in the Death Row/Bad Boy beef.
The latest issue of XXL is on newsstands now.
A Los Angeles judge on Thursday (February 28) issued a default judgment against Bone Thugs-N-Harmony after they failed to contest a lawsuit brought against them by a Japanese concert promoter.
Angry Lil Boosie Fans Flood Omaha Streets
Hundreds of angry fans flooded the streets of Omaha, NE after Lil Boosie failed to show up for a concert at the Sokol Underground on Friday night (February 29).
In the current issue of XXL magazine, Snoop, “the only muthafucka that can do porno, coach football and have a cooking show”, openly admitted to having others write songs for him on his forthcoming album, Ego Trippin.
“My boy Shawty Red wrote the song,” he reveals during the interview.
Bone Thugs Ordered to Pay Promoter $205,000 for Missed Shows
According to KNBC 4 in L.A., World Mix Entertainment filed suit against the group after they missed two December 2006 concert dates in Nagoya and Okinawa. A contract submitted with the suit confirmed that the promoter had agreed to pay the group $25,000 per show, $10,000 for a photo shoot and cover expenses for travel and promotions.
