Jermaine Dupri and Tha Dogg Pound's Daz Dillinger have both been named in a $250,000 defamation suit. Documents filed in Georgia's Northern District Court on Sept. 3 list Jermaine Dupri Mauldin and Delmar Arnaud as defendants in a case filed by Aika Kendrick.
The official grievance is listed as intellectual property/copyright infringement. Kendrick is suing on the grounds of negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and copyright infringement.
The suit stems from a recorded conversation found at the beginning of "The One," a song on Daz's 2006 album So So Gangsta. The album was Daz's only work recorded under Dupri's So So Def/Virgin imprint. Virgin Records America, Inc. is also labeled as a defendant in the suit, the label continued to make copies of the album available after Kendrick claimed to send a cease-and-desist order to So So Def.
Kendrick is represented by Pamela Gordon. As of press time calls to Gordon's law offices were not returned. Neither Daz nor Dupri, who has since left Virgin to become President of Urban Music at Island/Def Jam, has publicly commented on the incident.

Queen Latifah recently revealed that she is returning to her rap roots by releasing an all-rap album in December.
Latifah divulged to Rolling Stone that the album will feature collaborations with LL Cool J, Ludacris and Dr. Dre. Missy Elliot and Swizz Beatz will also be contributing to the album.
“Dre helped me write some stuff. He wrote some stuff with me and Ludacris wrote a record for me,” Latifah revealed. “Lyrically it covers a range of topics. A lot of love on there. People, dealing with people, how people do all kinds of things.”
Latifah hasn't released an all-rap album in ten years. She released two all-singing albums during her hiatus from rap and has been heavily involved in film.
Latifah joked that she almost titled her upcoming album The L Word in response to the lesbian rumors that have dogged her over the years.
“L was gonna stand for love though or La,” Latifah said. “Since people want to play games, I like to jab back sometimes just for fun, but I’m like, ‘Nah, that’s too much energy wasted.”
Latifah has not decided on a title for her upcoming album.
In related news, Latifah will be sharing the big screen with Alicia Keys in an upcoming film titled The Secret Life of Bees. The flick opens on October 17th.
Trick Trick is currently gearing up for the release of his sophomore album titled The Villain.
The album will feature appearances from Eminem, Kid Rock, Ice Cube, Guilty Simpson, Proof, Esham, Paradime, Diezel, Esham, Guilty Simpson, and Royce da 5'9.
Production on the set is supplied by Trick Trick, Eminem and Dr. Dre.
“I wanted to make music that I feel good about, to bring some real music back to the game. Each track is designed for its texture of song, texture of writing. I wanted to do what I felt good about, not chase after the times,” Trick Trick said via a statement. “Music is eternal so I might have a song that is rotten as f***, and there's a point to it. I'm making a statement. If you don't respect me, this is what I'm forced to do to you.”
The first single off the album is “Let It Fly” which features Ice Cube. A video for the single will be released in the coming weeks.
The Villain will hit stores on October 28th via Koch Records.

According to The Associated Press, Kelis was cleared of the aforementioned charges on Thursday (September 12).

DMX is reportedly in custody in a Phoenix jail on identity theft charges.
As reported earlier, DMX was arrested in Miami on August 14th on a warrant for failing to appear in a Phoenix court for a drug related case.
DMX attempted to bail out from the Miami jail but the Phoenix judge who issued the warrant revoked his bail and the rapper had to face drug charges he had picked up in Miami in June.
DMX would plead guilty to the Miami drug charges two weeks ago as part of a plea deal and was only sentenced to time served.
Phoenix authorities had fifteen days to arrest DMX or he would have been allowed to leave Miami on his own recognizance so the rapper was extradited from Miami to Phoenix on Wednesday (September 11)
According to the Associated Press, DMX is being held on a $25,000 cash bond. The identify theft charges stem from accusations that the rapper used a fake name at a Phoenix hospital to avoid a bill.
DMX also faces animal cruelty charges and drug charges in Phoenix.

Lil Wayne's lawyer, Stacey Richman, is questioning the story of a New York officer who claims she found the rapper in possession of a.9mm handgun last year.
As reported earlier, Officer Diane Hornung testified on Monday (September 8) that she smelt marijuana coming from Lil Wayne's tour bus after the rapper had left a concert with Ja Rule in Manhattan in July 2007.
Hornung claimed that the marijuana smell prompted her to enter the tour bus and she found Wayne sitting on a bed in his underwear trying to hide something in a bag.
While Wayne got dressed, Hornung claimed she looked inside the bag and found a loaded .9mm handgun.
According to The New York Daily News, Richman contended Hornung's story on Wednesday (September 10) claiming that court documents show that Hornung was no near where Wayne was arrested.
Richman claims the documents show Hornung was several blocks away helping her fellow officers arrest Ja Rule and two other men on gun charges.
Richman claims Wayne's tour bus was stopped and boarded without probable cause and his gun charges should be dropped.
Wayne has pleaded not guilty to the gun charges. He faces to three and a half years in prison if convicted.

Today, a Long Island judge awarded 50 Cent with regular visitation with his 11-year-old son Marquise.
50 Cent will be able to see his son every other weekend up until his appearance at a Suffolk County Family Court on October 22 for the custody trial.
An order of protection was placed on 50 Cent by his ex-girlfriend and mother of Marquise, Shaniqua Tompkins after someone set her home on fire back in May. Tompkins accused 50 Cent of being behind the incident, but agreed to let 50 Cent see his son every other weekend.
Since Tompkins placed an order of protection against 50 Cent, their son will have to be dropped off by his mother at a Queen's police precinct and then picked up by a member of 50 Cent's family on visiting weekends.
Although the custody trial is only weeks away, 50 Cent has no plans on changing his current lifestyle.
"Yeah, I'm happy. I get a chance to see him," 50 Cent explained. "I'm going to hang out with some (women). Make some music, make some movies, and continue to kick it."
