The death of Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, prompted California lawmakers to partially enact a bill requiring potential cosmetic surgery patients to first undergo a physical examination. Weeks after going into effect, the governor has vetoed the bill.
In addition to requiring a physical exam, the bill (written by Assemblywoman Wilma Amina Carter), would have also required patients to disclose their complete medical history and get a doctor’s clearance.
Citing the state’s 85-day delay in passing a new budget as the reasoning, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed the bill.
DMX appeared in a Phoenix court Monday (September 29) on a bench warrant issued for his arrest for failing to appear in court.
As reported earlier, the rapper was initially due in court last week but failed to make an appearance after being rushed to hospital for symptoms associated with a stroke.
According to FOX News, DMX's court appearance on Monday only lasted two minutes.
The rapper’s lawyer, Charles Kozelka, told the presiding judge that he was not at liberty to discuss his client’s medical condition.
DMX is facing a slew of charges in Phoenix including marijuana possession, identity theft and animal cruelty.
The rapper is expected back in court on October 7th.
The Game was let off on battery charges on Tuesday (September 30), stemming from fight that took place during a family funeral back in July.
According to TMZ, a judge dismissed charges the rapper faced, under the condition he attends 36 anger-management meetings by February 2009.
He was facing jail time, but dodged the bullet.
The charges stem from an incident at the funeral of his cousin. Game reported punched the brother, Kirky, of his dead cousin after getting into an argument following the funeral over its costs.
Kirky filed a police report following the altercation. He claims the superstar rapper agreed to finance the funeral services, etc., but when it came time to fork over the cash, he left his family high and dry.
Game, however, tells a much different story. He says that his family tried to extort money from him, using the funeral as an excuse.
He says he offered to pay for the casket and flowers, but they rejected the offer. Instead, they wanted Game to pay for the entire funeral.
"I feel like they were just trying to play me out of [$17,000]," he said during an interview on Arizona's 98.3 radio station back in July. "I talked to my mom about it. My mom said 'you should pay for the casket and the flowers, if you wanna do anything.' They rejected that because they wanted me to pay for the whole thing."
According to SOHH, Rap City will be replaced by a new show called The Deal which will mix various elements of Rap City and will also be an hour long.

Jadakiss might be a fast worker, but Def Jam is proving to be pretty swift, too.
The Yonkers MC is still “a few joints away” from finishing up his third album, Kiss My Ass. But his new label is pushing forward with his project right away. They—not him, he said–recently leaked the Jay-Z-assisted “Who Run This.’
“They rolling the ball a little quicker than me,” Kiss told XXL about his Roc-A-Fella debut. That’s why it’s going down [like that.]
“I still got my mixtape I got to finish, then the album,” he added.
So far Kiss has secured features with Young Jeezy, Lil Wayne (“Death Wish”), and he’s cooking up something with Ghostface and Raekwon.
The potential first single, “By My Side,” featuring Ne-Yo has recently been serviced to radio. However, Jada still isn’t sure if that’ll be the first clip from his album. He also has records with Avery Storm, Barrington Levy, and his D-Block brethren to choose from.
It’s been four years since the release of his last album, ‘04’s Kiss of Death (Interscope), but the LOX front man is happy to still be relevant enough to be releasing material.
In between albums, the rapper dealt with a gun charge that was hanging over his head and a change in labels, from Interscope to Def Jam, that, according to Kiss, has inspired his material.
“This [album] I did by myself,” Kiss explained. “I do all of them by myself, but I did this whole project in the D-Block studio. It gives it a raw sound, just gives it my whole element. It’s all me, all inspired by me.”
Next up for Kiss will be a mixtape, then he’ll drop his LP. Right after that, a D-Block compilation titled No Security Needed will hit the streets. By 2009, he said, the trio of Sheek Louch, Styles P, and Kiss should be ready to come together for their long-awaited LOX LP.
“We riding the wave right now,” Kiss said of juggling all his projects. “We got the surf boards, we just waiting on all the waves.”
Jay-Z and Iconix Brand Group have reportedly been slapped with a lawsuit for using the 'I Will Not Lose' slogan in a Rocawear campaign.
According to Allhiphop, the Brooklyn rapper and Iconix Brand Group were sued yesterday (September 25) by a company called I Will Not Lose, LLC which claims they trademarked the slogan first.
Jay-Z sold Rocawear's rights to Iconix Brand Group for $204 million last year and they used the 'I Will Not Lose' slogan in a campaign which featured Jay-Z, Chris Brown and Three Six Mafia.
Reggie Tucker, the CEO of I Will Not Lose,LLC (www.iwillnotlose.net), claims that he repeatedly requested Jay-Z and Iconix to stop using the slogan but he was ignored.
Tucker filed the lawsuit in Georgia Northern District Court last week and is seeking unspecified damages.
