After a surprising departure from his long time label home, Interscope, New York rapper Busta Rhymes has shed some light on the situation in a recent interview.
Busta says that although he has a phenomenal relationship with Aftermath head honcho and super producer, Dr. Dre, he was having problems with Interscope itself.
"Me and Dre always had a phenomenal relationship. On the label side--it just wasn't feeling like it was supposed to," Busta says.
"For the most part, I never left the label with any bad blood--a sit down with me and Jimmy [Iovine] had to happen and we just came to an agreement that what I'm trying to do at this stage of my career, trying to evolve and grow is just something I need to happen in a very particular way. Some of the ways, they were able to facilitate and some of the ways they weren't. It was just an honest assessment. I made a decision, he respected my decision and supported my decision. I thank Jimmy for not complicating my release and letting me leave with my album." Busta continued.
Busta also says his latest serving, Back On My Bullshit (B.O.M.B.) will be hitting stores on December 9th and it's currently being led by his latest single, "Arab Money. "
Common's next album is already gaining serious buzz. Universal Mind Control is set to hit stores, and with talk of Neptunes production, Common's garnered the attention of many. But, Common's still thinking ahead. He's already saying that The Believer LP will be next.
"The Believer is definitely gonna be an album," he told MTV. "It's gonna be the next album. I was ready to make The Believer, then I started working on an EP called Invincible Summer [click to read]. Then I was like, 'OK, Universal Mind Control — that's the name of the single.' Like we said on the song, 'If you wanna dance, let's dance.' That's what that whole concept is like: Whatever you want the people to do, you create the music for them to do it."
As reported, Com's been working mostly with the Neptunes in an attempt to make party music. "Where I am with Universal Mind Control, which is the name of the album as well as the single, I wanted to make some music people can enjoy. It's a lot of stuff going on in the world right now. Sometimes people need to release. I felt that energy abroad, going to different parties in Spain and London, even back in the States. It was good times. I want people to have good times musically."
Universal Mind Control is set to be released in early December. He's also planning a tour for January.

Johnson claims the group used his song "Is It Because I'm Black?" during the “Lock Down” interlude. Fans of Cypress may remember the album that spawned the hit song "Insane in the Brain" as it debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts.
The sample has also been used by Wu-Tang Clan and Styles P. Johnson, who is 72, is seeking $29 million dollars in the lawsuit which claims the sample was taken without permission.
Though heralded as one of Hip Hop’s most acclaimed artists, MF DOOM has been a mystery behind the mask. In recent times, it has gotten to the point that fans are questioning the validity of DOOM shows, unsure if the man on stage is in fact the real MF DOOM. Speaking in the recent issue of Wax Poetics magazine, DOOM confronted the question of impostor performances, vying for a new perception. Putting his explanation into context, MF DOOM recapped a show from last year.
"I did some show, wrecked it, girls climbing up onstage and shit," recounts DOOM. "That was the first time that happened--but we was rocking, right? Somebody from the label was going to be there. I was like, 'Cool, he saw the show, and it was wrecked.'" Continuing on DOOM stated, "Next couple of days, I speak to him, and he was like, 'Good show, but a lot of people are saying it wasn't you!'"
Receiving the disconcerting news, DOOM was amazed to hear his character continues to fool people. "I lost fifty-nine pounds last year on some healthy shit, and I'm out there busting my ass, and niggas is still saying that shit? Niggas is caught up in the character part."
However, instead of killing off the impostor noise, MF DOOM stressed his shows are for the music, first and foremost. "Looking at it has nothing to do with what it sounds like," says DOOM. "A blind person could be at the show and feel it clearly, but don't see nothing of it. Don't matter what the shit look like. Look, was niggas rockin' or was niggas rockin'?"
For the full interview with MF DOOM, be sure to pick up the newest Wax Poetics, on sale now.

Sean “Diddy” Combs has reportedly bought hip-hop clothing line Enyce for $20 million from fashion giant Liz Claiborne Inc.
According to Women's Wear Daily, Liz Claiborne Inc. purchased Enyce for $114 million in 2003 but the clothing line’s sales have dramatically declined.
Liz Claiborne Inc. believe that Diddy will help rejuvenate the once popular clothing line.
“Enyce is a strong brand with a loyal customer following; however, the unsettled economic environment and our commitment to properly resource and focus on other brands in our portfolio contributed to this decision,” explained William McComb, CEO of Liz Claiborne Inc. “As a leading player in the young men’s market, Sean Combs has the expertise and resources to help Enyce endure this difficult period and ultimately thrive. We are pleased that Sean Combs has decided to purchase the brand.”

23 year-old, up-and-coming rapper Toro, who has appeared on the track "Ride" with Rick Ross, was fatally shot in Miami over the weekend.
According to the Miami Herald, the Opa-locka bred rapper (born Derek Johnson) was inside a Cadillac Escalade on Saturday (October 18) morning around 4 a.m. with another man in Northern Miami-Dade County, as a silver sedan passed by riddling the vehicle with multiple bullets.
After the gunshots went off, Toro's vehicle excelled forward bursting through the wall of a local home. Nearly destroying the house, the family who inhabited the residence came out unharmed.
While both men were hit, Toro's friend was the only survivor, escaping with a minor injury.
Toro's grandmother Addie Baldwin is still in disbelief from losing her grandchild.
"I'm in a state of shock," Baldwin told the Herald. "He was easy going, everybody loved him -- we thought."
Despite his grandmother's love and admiration for him, Toro prided himself as a rapper inspired by infamous criminals.
"I'm not influenced by rappers I'm influenced by gangsters," he wrote on his MySpace page.
As of now, no suspects have been identified by police.
Lil Wayne's assistant, Terry Bourgeois, testified in a New York court yesterday (October 20) that he occasionally saw a handgun and people smoking marijuana in the rapper's tour bus.
As reported earlier, Lil Wayne was arrested on a weapons possession charge last July after a 9mm was found in his tour bus following a performance with Ja Rule at Manhattan’s Beacon Theatre.
A police officer testified last month she saw Lil Wayne trying to hidea gun when she boarded the bus but Bourgeois testified Monday that he never saw Lil Wayne with a gun on the night of his arrest. He also said he didn't know whether a gun was on the bus.
Wayne, who appeared at the hearing, has pleaded not guilty to the gun charges. He faces to three and a half years in prison if convicted.
The case will resume in December.
Although many news outlets reported T.I.'s next single be "Swing Ya Rag," the clip never made it on major television networks. That left fans asking about the video. Recently, Tip spoke openly about the video controversy and more on what fans can still expect from Paper Trail.
It seems Louis Vuitton and Gucci were not happy to have their product featured in the video.
"We did it, and it came out hot," T.I. told MTV. "Louis [Vuitton] and Gucci started trippin' about it. They were saying we were infringing, in one way or another. They weren't happy about it. They didn't want it to come out. But it's hot, though."
He also added that more singles would be coming from Paper Trail. "Live Your Life," a Just Blaze-produced song which features Rihanna will be out soon, and "Swagger Like Us" can be a potential last single.
"I hope we can pull that off," T.I. adds. "That was the definite intentions initially. We have to see when everybody is all available. I'm available whenever they are."
Currently, he is planning a tour and working on his latest film, Bone Deep.

Rick Ross isn't letting any controversy slow him down. The "Boss" hitmaker is currently prepping his forthcoming LP, Deeper Than Rap, due out in the first quarter of 2009.
According to MTV news, the album features productions from Kanye West, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, and even fellow rapper T.I.
After reportedly confirming his past as a Correctional Officer, Ross also touched base with MTV news on the situation claiming everything he has rapped about is authentic.
"Anytime a rumor comes up like, 'Is Ross is getting married?' I don't address it, because that's my life," he said last Thursday in Atlanta.
"At the same time, if it's some haterism going on, I'm most definitely not gonna entertain it, because it's not trill. I define trill as being successful, doing you, being creative, living your life. My music is very sincere to me."
"If you think I didn't get no money, God bless your heart," he continued about his time on the streets. "I had the P. Diddy watch at 19. I saw what they wanted, and I had it. I don't get on the airwaves and tell people I'm out on bond now facing prison time right now and have been for the past year and a half. That's not what I glorify" he continued.
Deeper Than Rapper will be hitting stores via Ross's imprint, Maybach Music.
No Limit recording artists Mia X, Mr. Serv-On, Mo B Dick, KLC and Fiend have confirmed an upcoming tour schedule where they would be reuniting. Long time fans will get their first opportunity since the late 90's to see them all together. “This tour is long overdue,” said Mr. Serv-On. “We owe this tour to our fans.”
The group/label was founded in 1991 by Percy Miller, also known as Master P. Since its birth, No limit Records has sold more than 75 million records worldwide. They should also be credited with being one of the first labels to constantly push out album after album from their roster, as it seemed a new album from a No Limit artist would come out every other month.
As of press time, it does not look as if they will be joined by Master P who has since taken a new career path.
Although dates haven't been confirmed yet, cities verified for the tour include Chicago, Detroit, St. Louis, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Memphis, Nashville, Atlanta, Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Jackson, Mississippi.
A brief moment of violence sent a gathering of Hip Hop stars into disarray yesterday (Oct. 18) when members of Jim Jones' entourage were involved in an altercation.
According to AllHipHop, Ace Hood had just wrapped up the video shoot for his second single, "Ride," featuring Trey Songz, Juelz Santana and Rick Ross.
The shoot took place across the street from Busta Rhymes' taping for his "Arab Money" video, and attracted celebrities who were in the area for the BET Hip Hop Awards.
Reportedly, artists like Polow Da Don, Young Buck, Jadakiss, DJ Khaled and Juelz Santana were leaving the shoot when several men ran out from the sound stage, chasing an unidentified man.
The man was assaulted by the group, who were allegedly in Jim Jones' and Juelz Santana's entourage. Santana and Jones were rushed from the scene by their security details.
The victim reportedly left the scene without any major injuries.
Sean 'Diddy' Combs is reportedly in talks to star in a film based on rapper T La Rock.
T La Rock was the first rapper to release a record via Def Jam Records but his career stalled after he suffered a traumatic brain injury while breaking up a fight in 1994.
He would eventually recover from memory loss and regained his motor skills.
According to The New York Post, Antwone Fisher will be writing the film and it will be directed by Denzel Washington.
Lil Wayne proved to be an even bigger winner than usual this past weekend at the taping of the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards.
According to MTV News, The rapper won the coveted “Lyricist of the Year” award and during his thank you speech announced he’s expecting a son. In just a couple of days. He didn’t say who the mother was.
Weezy was nominated for a whopping 12 awards. He’s had a huge 2008, from his album sales–which recently topped 2.5 million–to cementing his place among rap’s elite.
But news of his impending father may top all his musical feats. The rapper is already parent to a daughter, whom he had as a teen with a former girlfriend.
However, speculation is swirling on the identity of his new child. Nivea, who the rapper once dated and was believed to have an on-again/off-again relationship, is rumored to be the mother. As is Karrine “Superhead” Stephens. Wayne, in interviews, has professed his love for the video dancer turned bestselling author.
And Stephens, in a video blog on her site, while she didn’t confirm being pregnant, she did speak on her weight gain.
“If I look fat, it’s because I am, so leave me alone,” she said in an October 11 posting. “I’ve been living good and eating good.”
In the September issue of XXL, both parties–Wayne and Stephens–spoke on their feelings for each other. Wayne, for his part, seemed to be past his dealings with her. Stephens detailed parts of their relationship in a written piece titled “Playing With Fire.”
No comment by either woman has been made as of press time
