T.I. has come forward to testify about the events that took place on the night his friend and assistant Philiant Johnson was murdered in May 2006.
According to the Associated Press, the rapper was present at a Cincinnati courtroom today (November 21) where he described the shoot-out his entourage had with prime suspect Hosea Thomas. Tip told jurors he took cover in a van as it was layered with bullets during a wild vehicle chase.
Describing the aftermath, he detailed noticing Johnson after their van took off saying his friend laid lifeless with blood running down his face due to a gunshot wound to his left temple. Three other members were reportedly injured, however Tip did not suffer any injuries.
As previously reported, opening statements began earlier this week as jury members were told Cincinnati local Thomas was responsible for the murder.
Hosea's brother, Padron, who was also involved in the shoot-out, stepped forward to testify against him. He now faces no prison time for his role in the murder of Johnson.
Remy Ma is hoping to be home for the holidays. The rapstress’ lawyers have just filed an appeal in hope to overturn her assault and weapon possession conviction.
As previously reported, Remy was sentenced to eight years in prison for shooting her friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph in the stomach following a money dispute after a party in New York City. Remy’s legal team contends the judge made countless mistakes during the trial.
”The trial court wrongly instructed the jury over defense objection, that if it found Makeda Barnes-Joseph was ‘truthful and accurate’ then her testamony under the law satisfies the proof beyound a reasonable doubt,” Rem’s lawyer wrote in the appeal documents. “Ms. Smith was unfairly prejudiced by the inclusion in the indictment of counts regarding the violent gang assault at the Player’s Club, as to which there was no evidence to her complicity, but which likely colored the jury’s consideration of the remaining counts.”
The Roots survived a double-decker tour bust crash Wednesday (Nov. 19) night while driving though Paris.
Just hours later, Roots member ?uestlove revealed to Okayplayer.com that the bus, complete with full lounge and bathroom on the first level, was flipped upside-down.
The news came just days after the group announced a temporary retirement from touring.
?uestlove emailed Okayplayer, which he helped co-found, the details of the crash, which he wrote an hour after the crash.
"In reality the crash was all of about 7 seconds," wrote ?uestlove. "...but to do a 360 on the highway and end up ramped up (the van that crashed into ours was UNDER our double decker bus) in the air....is....well...a frigging miracle."
"My first thought was not move a fucking inch," he continued in the e-mail. "I always had fear that we would fall off a cliff while in high mountain traveling like Denver or Switzerland. I couldn't tell where gravity began and ended."
The group was en route to a stop on the Glow in the Dark Tour in Paris, which ?questlove wrote would "be a miracle" if they made.
To conclude the e-mail, The Roots' drummer wrote: "Til then just wanna let everyone know that we are happy to be alive. and not in that tv cliche way....but man......that was divine intervention. we are so grateful for this outcome."

T-Pain is finally cashing in on Auto-Tune. Artists like Lil Wayne and Kanye West asked the Ring Leader for his blessing before using the instrument, but Diddy is taking it one step further.
As previously mentioned, the Bad Boy mogul’s upcoming album will be entirely sung using Auto-Tune. Word is that Puff will be crediting T-Pain by giving him royalties on the album.
“I gave T-Pain one point on my [upcoming] album for using the Auto-Tune,” Diddy revealed on Sunday night during “Total Finale Live.”
“Sign the papers,” Pain added, confirming Puff’s revelation. “Diddy actually gave me royalties on this album just for using Auto-Tune. He signed the contract and everything. If I can do that with Diddy, somebody else better be signing something. It’s Diddy. He didn’t have to involve me at all. … I’m writing and producing on his album, and he gave me extra royalties on top of that for using something I just brought back.”
Taco Bell has reportedly countersued 50 Cent in response to a $4 million dollar lawsuit that the rapper filed against the fast food chain in July.
In June, Taco Bell released a letter to the press asking 50 Cent to endorse its 'Why Pay More Value Menu' by changing his name to "79 Cent," "89 Cent" or "99 Cent". In return, the fast food chain said it would give $10,000 to 50 Cent's favorite charity.
50 would respond to the letter with a copyright infringement lawsuit claiming that the company used his name in their advertising campaign without his consent and fooled consumers into thinking that he agreed to endorse the fast food chain.
50 claimed Taco Bell intentionally used his name to attract attention and publicity to its campaign without compensating him. He also claimed that the campaign harmed his image because fans thought he had 'sold out' by endorsing Taco Bell.
According to The New York Daily News , Taco Bell responded in their countersuit saying that they were protected by the First Amendment and attacked the rapper's character calling him a "former drug dealer and hustler whose gangsta rap is associated with violent criminals."
"[50 Cent] has used his colorful past to cultivate a public image of belligerence and arrogance and has a well-publicized track record of making threats, starting feuds and filing lawsuits," said Taco Bell's lawyer Robert Lehrburger in the suit. "At the same time, holds himself out as a giver to charity and one who wants to give back to his community. This lawsuit is another of 50's attempts to burnish his gangsta rapper persona by distorting beyond all recognition a bona fide, good faith offer that Taco Bell made to Jackson."
Peter Raymond, 50 Cent's lawyer, responded to Taco Bell's countersuit saying, "It makes me wonder why they would decide to use his name in their ad campaign if they think he's such a bad character."

The Louisiana judge who granted C-Murder a new trial in his second-degree murder case announced Tuesday ( November 18) that she will no longer be presiding over the case and has set a January 2009 date for the rapper's re-trial.
C- Murder, whose real name is Corey Miller, has been awaiting retrial on a second-degree murder charge in the 2002 killing of sixteen year old Steve Thomas, who was shot in the chest during a brawl in the defunct Platinum Club in Louisiana.
The rapper has been under house arrest since he was released on bond in March 2006, after Sassone overturned his murder conviction and accepted his request for a new trial.
The re-trial was expected to take place this year but has been pushed back repeatedly because of wrangling between prosecutors and the defense attorneys over witnesses' backgrounds.
According to The Times Picayune, Sassone lost her bid for re-election on the District Court bench and will be leaving two weeks before C-Murder's January 12 hearing.
During her run for re-election, Sassone was harshly criticized by her opponent Ellen Kovach for giving C-Murder preferential treatment.
Kovach, who defeated Sassone in the Nov. 4 runoff , has chosen not to preside over C-Murder's case due to her criticism.
A new judge is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Jim Jones covers the new December issue of Complex Magazine. Peep some excerpts below from Capo's interview about Jay-Z, Kanye West & Camron. & Dame Dash headline grabbing "Kanye West Hated Jay-Z" theory.
In the documentary, there’s mention that Jay-Z stole the beat for “Izzo (H.O.V.A.)” from you and Cam, that Kanye agreed to give the beat to you guys. What’s the story behind that?
Jim Jones: Kanye came to our studio session at Sony, and he was playing some beats back when we were all signed to Rocafella. Cam was about to come out with Come Home With Me, so we told Kanye we wanted to buy the song “H to the Izzo.” It was an understanding we had between us and Kanye because we were all under the same label. So then, I’ll never forget it, we’re at Cam’s house and this hip-hop award show comes on [BET Awards, 2001], and Cam and I are watching it on his couch, and we’re like, “Next year we’re gonna be up there.” So they announce that Jay-Z is about to perform his new single off The Blueprint, and the dude comes out with the “H to the Izzo” beat. Cam and I look at each other like, Oh, we’re going to kill Kanye. Oh my God, when we catch this nigga,we’re going to do something terrible to him. And that’s how Cam ended up getting the “Down and Out” beat. Kanye gave it to him free of charge as payback.
You’ve said that there’s no more Rocafella, but Kanye has had great success, and he still claims the Roc.
Jim Jones: I don’t know if he’s actually with Jay-Z from the looks of things. From what I’ve been seeing from since we were signed until now, I think Kanye actually hates Jay-Z. [Dame Dash interrupts:] No, he actually does. He hated Jay-Z ever since he wouldn’t give him a fucking Rocawear chain in Chicago! I’m telling you.
Jim Jones: I don’t know if the song “Big Brother” was correct, but he might’ve hated him since he didn’t give him those tickets to Madison Square Garden.
Damon Dash: This was before that. He was already in full hate by that time. [Laughs.] This nigga [Kanye] was like, “Wow, he ain’t going to give me the chain.” I had to take off my chain and give it to him, and I was heated. I had the real canary diamonds. That shit cost $40,000! I told Kanye, “Yo, you got to give that back when we get off this stage!”
For the eighth week in a row, T.I. still holds the No. 1 spot on Billboard's 'Top Rap Albums Chart'.

Malice and Pusha T, collectively known as The Clipse, announced recently that the Virginia hip-hop duo would be releasing a clothing line which is set to hit stores this Friday, November 21st.
The clothing line named "Play Cloths", is said to be a blend of American style, with the French Riviera and Monte Carlo uses of rich, vibrant primary colors to create collectible garments.
Play Cloths was created with the help of designer Doug Life, and as Malice puts it, is “all about trying to recreate the whole feeling of trying to get that fly s**t.”
Pusha and Malice will also debut a new mixtape for their fans entitled Road To ‘Til’ The Casket Drops’, which will be available as a free download on December 1st.
Hot 97 radio personality Angie Martinez is delving into TV with her own special called “The Angie Martinez Show.”
The talk show premieres on November 24th at 11:30 p.m. on BET where her guests will be Jay-Z, LL Cool J, and Marc Anthony.
"It was casual," Angie told SOHH. "It's not a big production, it's not a lot of bells and whistles -- it's just like, interesting talk with interesting people, that's what we kept saying. It's that kind of vibe. It's very comfortable and easy. I like shows like that."
While keeping the special's details to a minimum, Ang hinted at a few discussions she had with Jay involving his wife, R&B superstar Beyonce.
"There is some fun, kind of banter about it where I ask him, what happens when there's kids," she added. "Like, you can't hide the kids, like, are the kids gonna be a secret? So there's kinda like some fun banter about that and it's really more about his career and how he sees himself, his process in making music, really about what they do more so than any kind of gossipy, kind of, ground breaking segment."
Modeling the formats of other popular interview programs like James Lipton's "Inside the Actors Studio" and Charlie Rose, Ang has no intention of making the special a one-time only event.
"Now we're all amped and we want to shoot a whole bunch of 'em," she revealed. "We're talking about doing a Christmas special. I'm definitely eyeing Mariah [Carey] and Nick [Cannon]. That's who I'm really trying to shoot for, for the next one. And I'm a big fan of James Lipton -- I just got a call that he would be down to shoot the next one."
Aiming to break the barrier between hip-hop and other categories, Ang wants to prove the show is equally entertaining regardless of what genre a guest falls under.
"I'm definitely not sticking to hip-hop," she said. "I think people who are in to hip-hop are into all kinds of things, too. I refuse to believe people are not interested outside their 'genre.'"
On MTV’s finale for “Total Request Live” Sunday, Eminem called in to wish the show farewell and also give some insight into the release of his highly anticipated new album, 'Relapse'.
Host Carson Daly did his best to try to get as much info out of Em as possible, but the rapper was tight-lipped about the upcoming project.
Em did however once again confirm the album's title and also said he had recorded over 100 songs for it.
While it was previously reported that the album would be hitting shelves in December of this year, Em said that it will actually be being released “sometime in the 1st quarter of next year.”
Dame Dash hasn't been making many positive headlines as of late.
From struggling to make his high-ends meet to co-signing Jim Jone's random disses, in a recent interview with Complex Magazine, Dash continues his streak as he spoke on his estrange relationship with Jay-Z.
According to the NY Daily News, Dash claims Jay set off a feud with Kanye West after refusing to give him a Roc-A-Fella chain to wear on stage.
"This nigga [Kanye ] was like, 'Wow. [Jay-Z] ain't going to give me the chain,'"Dash alleges in December's Complex magazine.
"I had to take off my chain and give it to him, and I was heated. I had the real canary diamonds. That s- cost $40,000! I told Kanye, 'Yo, you got to give that back when we get off this stage!'"
"Kanye hated Jay-Z," he claims.
A source tells the Daily News however that Dash is just crying out for attention alledging he's doing it to promote Jim Jones.
"Damon does this every time he's promoting an artist. He just makes things up" the source says.
"Damon wants to blow Jim up," adding that Dash is producing a documentary about Jones in which Dash introduces the rapper to influential acquaintances, like Vogue editor Anna Wintour.

Common was recently speaking in North Carolina, where he caught up with HipHopDX. There, the Chicago veteran emcee talked about his forthcoming album Universal Mind Control.
"I’m really excited about it and for me as long as I’ve been making music I always wanted to challenge myself. This album is a lot of free music, a lot of feel good music. I didn’t overthink the subject matters and made music you can dance too, ride out too, and have fun too. I wanted to give people something to smile about, enjoy, and let loose."
Within Universal Mind Control, Common says he has a song that really embodies the political climate America witnessed earlier this month in his home city.
"I have a song called 'Changes' and it’s a reflection of what I see in the future, it’s changes going on right now. The youth really have a opportunity due to the fact we have Barack Obama in office. It’s due to the fact that people of all colors can see a black men, with his black women, and family can really do something powerful and lead this country. I wrote it probably five or six months ago, and it really fitting for the climate of the world right now."
Lastly, as artists ranging from Mos Def and 50 Cent have traded fourth quarter releases for a much less crowded 2009, Common explained his own push-back.
"I originally was starting this album as an EP which was like a six song collection of songs. It was called Invincible Summer and I wanted to bring it out during the summertime. I did this film Terminator Salvation and I couldn’t finish the album in period I wanted to. I said, 'Man Universal Mind Control is the perfect title for the sound of the music. UMC fits the theme of what the album is about. That sounds like something from back in the days to something futuristic. Check me out on the website ThinkCommon.com, y'all can get the whole album for 99 cents the day the album is released, y'all can't beat that, my music is priceless. [Laughs]"

Katt Williams' family is reportedly seeking to have the comedian evaluated and hospitalized for his recent erratic behavior.
According to The Sumter Item, South Carolina cops responded to a suspicious persons call from a local motel on Friday morning (November 15) and found Williams dressed in a bath robe with a towel wrapped around his head, trying to check in.
Police would not arrest Williams but he would show up minutes later at the office of attorney Garryl Deas asking for help and representation.
Deas claims that Williams seemed 'disoriented' and was 'speaking gibberish' about that police "attempting to violate his rights".
Deas also claimed that Williams talked about his career and claimed that everyone had turned against him.
Williams' family would show up at Deas' office and got police to transport the comedian to a local hospital for evaluation.
The comedian's family want Williams to be evaluated and committed. It is unknown if both have occurred.
