Stephen Colbert Outsells Kanye West On iTunes

Kanye West might have taken out the G-Unit general 50 Cent in the hyped 07’ album sale battle but he was no match for Stephen Colbert’s “Operation Humble Kanye.” Colber apparently didn’t take too kindly to Yeezy proclaiming himself “the voice of this generation.”

With A Colbert Christmas:The Greatest Gift Of All trailing 808s and Heartbreak in iTune sales, Colbert, the Comedy Central parody pundit, recently called Ye a “sunglass display mannequin” and urged fans to cop his holiday CD.

“I have to knock Kanye West’ album from the number one spot on iTunes and replace it with A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All,” Colbert revealed during a recent episode. “This is war and I’m calling for a surge. Nation buy my album on iTunes this wednesday at exactly 5 p.m. This will propel it to the number one spot and possibly crash the national power grid, but Kanye will be force to admit that I am the voice of this generation of this decade of this wednesday at 5 P.M.”

Last night Colbert declared mission accomplished in “Operation Humble Kanye” as he sat at no. 2 and 808s dropped to no. 4 on the iTune charts. Colbert fueled the beef boasting that Al Roker declared him the real “voice of this generation,” and proceeded to invite Ye to fight on the show

T.I. Dismisses Beef With Shawty Lo, Plans Tour With Young Jeezy & Ludacris

Despite their camps coming to blows at the Dirty Awards in Atlanta last week, T.I. has chosen to dismiss his ongoing beef with fellow rapper Shawty Lo.

The two Atlanta rappers have been going back and forth on records and interviews in the past year and their feud showed its uglier side at the aforementioned award show.

When Shawty Lo was performing at the event, members of T.I.'s Grand Hustle crew threw chairs on stage and sparked a brief scuffle between both camps.

T.I. and Shawty Lo would meet backstage to iron out their differences for the show to continue but another brawl occurred minutes after T.I. got his time on stage. The second scuffle, which had to be quelled by police, caused the award show to be cancelled.

"We spoke," T.I. explained to MTV News. "I don't know what that conversation meant. Shortly after we spoke ... I felt that that conversation, those words, weren't upheld. It was just a lot of nonsense. There's no place in my life for that. There was a time in my life where I wanted no more than to indulge in that kind of activity. I went around looking for it, welcoming it. Now, I just done blown way past that. There's no place in my life for it. What I told him really was, 'I'm not trippin'.'

"[After we talked] , me and my artists go out there to do our song, and there's a lot of negative feedback from right here in front of the stage," T.I. continued. "That kinda sparked some things that I, once again, cannot condone, support or entertain. So I had to separate myself from the whole situation."

"It's been over for me," T.I. said of the feud. "I'm looking way past this. I got way too much stuff that I'm involved in, that I'm looking forward to, to even be bothered with it. I wish you the best. Go do your thing. Peace unto everyone. I'm done. Like I said, it's a non-issue for me. I'm cool. I'm not trippin'. I wasn't trippin' before then, and I'm not trippin' now."

T.I. is now focused on trying to materialize a 2009 tour which will feature fellow Atlanta rappers Young Jeezy and Ludacris.

"I'm definitely down to do it," T.I. said of the tour. "Those are definitely two people who are up there when you talk about Southern performers. I'm definitely open to do it. We just gotta figure out what makes the most sense as far as getting it done."

Beanie Sigel, Freeway, Gillie Da Kid and more have linked with Nike to provide fans with an upcoming "Brotherly Love Concert" in Philadelphia next week.

Presented by Nike's All Conditions Gear (ACG) shoe brand, the Philly-bred emcees will unite to show local fans their commitment to working together despite prior rap beefs in the past.

Kanye West Wants To Work For Louis Vuitton

Kanye West has reportedly announced plans to step aside from music and focus on exploring fashion as a possible intern.

According to the New York Times, the mega producer is looking to diversify his portfolio by expanding his knowledge of style and clothing design by offering his free services at a clothing branch along the lines of Louis Vuitton and Raf Simons.

"I was blown away from the planet when he told me," Simons told Times. "I know he's very serious about this -- I don't take it as a joke -- but how can I imagine him being my intern? It's a very extreme situation."

While no official word or statement from Ye confirming the new move has been released yet, the rapper has hinted at his intention of pursuing a more focused path in the fashion world.

"I want to and will be the real thing," Ye previously wrote in a blog entry. "I will not just be a 'celebrity designer.'"

Stephen Colbert Wages War With Kanye West

Stephen Colbert, host of Comedy Central's The Colbert Report, is attempting to humble Chicago rapper Kanye West in a mission Colbert has dubbed "Operation Humble Kanye."

Along with Kanye's recent antics, Colbert seemed somewhat bothered by the fact that Kanye's new album 808's & Heartbreak has reached the number one spot on iTunes while Colbert's latest album A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All has only managed to reach the number 15 spot.

Colbert even went on to shoot down Kanye's remarks on being the "voice of this generation."

"With all the auto-tuning on your records, you're barely the voice of your own albums," Colbert explained. "You want to be the voice of a generation? Get in line. It goes me, Obama Girl, the guys - then it's a tie between you and Crocs."

The only response to Colbert's remarks made by Kanye appear on his Twitter page where his headline reads, "Who the fuck is Stephen Colbert?"

808's & Heartbreak was released last Monday and the albums first single, "Love Lockdown" has gone on to sell over 1.3 million downloads on iTunes.

Suge Knight's Mansion Sold In Bankruptcy Court

On the heels of yesterday's official announcement that the economy is in a recession, Death Row Records co-founder Marion "Suge" Knight may be Hip Hop's first casualty. The Los Angeles Times reports Knight's $6.2 million Malibu mansion was recently sold in bankruptcy court for $4.56 million.

The sale is likely the last in a financial freefall that began when Knight and Death Row filed for bankruptcy protection in April of 2006. Since then, both Warner and Global Music Group have either claimed ties to or tried to acquire the former home of artists such as Dr. Dre, 2Pac and Snoop Dogg.

Within the last few weeks, Knight has sued Kanye West, accused the Barstow Police Department of stealing a diamond earring and been charged with assault for allegedly beating his girlfriend

Chris Brown & Rihanna Slapped With $1 Million Lawsuit

A Florida based photographer has reportedly filed a $1 million lawsuit against Chris Brown and Rihanna claiming that their bodyguards beat him and stole his camera earlier this year.

According to The St. Petersburg Times, Luis Santana claims that while he was taking a picture of Brown and Rihanna through an open window of their limousine on May 6, bodyguards working for the singers chased him, stole his camera and broke it.

Santana wants his $3,000 camera replaced and wants to be compensated for the photos he lost. He also wants to be compensated for his injuries and emotional distress

"This is America. It's called the First Amendment,” said Santana's lawyer, Paul Kimsey." If you're in public, you're subject to being photographed. Everyone is, celebrity or not."

Bone Thugs-N-Harmony Reunite for "UNI 5"

On Sunday night, all five original members of rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony came together to perform at Los Angeles' sold out Club Nokia. The entire group hadn’t performed together in over a decade, but has finally set aside their differences to present fans with the Uni 5 experience.

“Bone Thugs-N-Harmony coming together for the Uni 5 album is a monumental movement for Hip Hop and family life in general,” group members said. “It shows that any obstacle can be overcome, and unity, love, and harmony are the best remedies; hence, Uni 5. The Bone legacy is here to stay.”

Consisting of members Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone, and Flesh-n-Bone, the newly reunited group performed hits from the past 15 years including “1st of Tha Month,” “I Tried,” and the Grammy-Award winning “Tha Crossroads.”

The group experienced problems back in 2000 when member Flesh-n-Bone was sentenced to eleven years in prison, and then again a few years later when infighting led to the ousting of Bizzy Bone. The remaining three members released an album titled Strength & Loyalty just last year.

“We are just like any real family,” stated Krayzie Bone. “We fight and have disagreements, but at the end of the day, we are brothers, from our skin down to our 'bones.' Bone Thugs-N-Harmony will be a family, unit, team, and group always.”

50 Cent Admits To Feeling The Economic Crunch

Even though he was declared the richest rapper by Forbes Magazine earlier this year, the ongoing global economic crunch is also affecting 50 Cent.

The G-Unit honcho recently revealed to The Associated Press that the downturn in the global markets has hurt his pockets and also influenced the delay of his forthcoming album Before I Self Destruct.

"I lost a couple million dollars already," 50 Cent divulged. “I sit with my investors and business managers and accountants looking at the numbers and I'm like, 'Yo, the values of stocks in different areas that I invested in are decreasing!' So I take the loss like everybody else."

50 Cent has also been trying to sell his US$18.5 million Connecticut mansion for over a year and has had no success. The mansion was recently owned by former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

"I'm waking up in a room that was previously Mike Tyson's bedroom, a fighter who earned over US$500 million in his actual career, and when I purchased his house from him he was in bankruptcy," 50 explained. "If that's not a strong enough reminder for you, I don't know what's going to remind you to be aware of where you are financially and make conscious decisions."

50 Cent was slated to release his fourth solo album Before I Self Destruct this month but the rapper revealed he wants to build more hype for the project to avoid disappointing sales in a sagging economy.

"Pushing it back was to position myself a little better," 50 said. “I want to make sure (buyers) hear some things before I actually get my CD physically on sale."

Before I Self Destruct is slated for release in 2009 and will include two bonus DVDs

Yung Berg Plans Equal Opportunity Love Reality TV Series

Amid all the recent controversy surrounding Yung Berg, the Chicago rapper will be the centerpiece for a Flavor of Love-style reality show.

According to numerous sources, Yung Berg will be inviting a number of ladies onto the show so that he can find his one true love.

Management for Yung Berg released the statement, “We are looking to find exceptional stand out beautiful dark skin/brown skin women to showcase all races of beauty on the show.”

Earlier this year Berg made controversial remarks about favoring light skinned women over dark skinned women. "I'm kinda racist like that. I don't really like dark butts. You know how some women prefer light-skinned men or dark skinned...I don't's rare that I do dark butts." The radio interview made added remarks about black haircare products being a turnoff.

It is also rumored that Yung Berg has personally requested Brooklyn video model Jeri J. to be included in the casting call for the upcoming show.

The show is scheduled to begin filming in the coming weeks and is currently being shopped to MTV, VH1 and BET.

Akon's minor endangerment and second degree harassment case was postponed by a Fishkill judge yesterday (December 1).

As previously reported, during a concert at Dutchess Stadium in Fishkill in June 2007, 15-year-old Anthony Smith threw an object at Akon while he was onstage and the singer asked the crowd to point him out.

On that date, it will be determined whether or not a trial will take place or if matters can be resolved without a trial.

Akon has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Kanye West's Cousin Investigated In Donda West's Death

Dr. Donda West's passing might be turning into something more than an accidental death soon as investigators are looking to question her nephew Stephan Scoggins.

According to reports, Scoggins, a registered nurse, was watching over Dr. West during her post-surgery recovery in November of 2007. Scoggins however, allegedly left West's side to attend a friends baby shower shortly after the fatal surgery.

Investigators are looking to question Scoggins and involved persons to find out how large of a role his absence had on her death.

West had opted for home care after her surgery even though she was advised that she should receive post-operative care at another facility.

If Scoggins is found responsible for her death, he can lose his nursing license.

Diddy Clairifies I Am King Billboard

Sean "Diddy" Combs has already established himself as an icon in the Hip Hop world. In recent years, he has taken his brand and made it a recognizable symbol in New York's Time Square. His advertisement, one that showed the mogul posing with a fist in the air, became a well-known image amongst the bright lights. Now, he has replaced this ad with another one as he has unveiled his latest fragrance, I Am King.

Diddy has released a statement, acknowledging that while the ad's tag line may appear to be a sign of arrogance, it is actually more about empowering others.

"I am really proud of the new billboard and of the message that it conveys to everyone who gets to see it. I Am King is not just about me, but every man. We are all descendants of kings. And if all men believe in that, we can accomplish anything. This image pays tribute to that belief, that ideal."

The new ad will also go up in Los Angeles' famed Sunset Boulevard and in Miami. The fragrance will be sold exclusively at Macy's and will hit stores this December. It will hit other department stores in February of 2009.
