Andre Benjamin’s “Class of 3000″ cartoon now a live stage show

Andre Benjamin’s Cartoon Network hit “Class of 3000″ still has such a devoted following that the show has now been adapted for a live musical stage show.

Acorrding to Woohaa “Class of 3000 Live!” is now playing at the Alliance Theatre at the Woodruff in Atlanta until March 29th.

The animated series aired from November 2006 until May 2008, and also spawned its own album. It was later cancelled, due to budget problems amid allegations of stealing the show’s premise and characters from someone else.

The “Class of 3000” play has been designed around the cartoons first episode titled “Life Without Music.” The plot follows Sunny Bridges’ return to Westley School for the Performing Arts and his relationship with a pack of unruly and energetic 12-year-olds.

The songs, which play a major role in the production, were all created by Andre 3000.

The stage show is officially supervised and endorsed by Andre Benjamin himself.

Judge Orders C- Murder To Remain Jailed, Increases Rapper's Bond

A New Orleans judge ruled today (March 11) that C-Murder must remain in jail until his trial next month for violating his house arrest earlier this week and also increased the rapper's bond to $1 million.

As reported earlier, C-Murder was thrown in jail on Monday (March 9) after police claimed that the rapper's monitor indicated that he was out of range for about 10 minutes on early Monday morning around 3 a.m.

C-Murder, born Corey Miller is accused of killing sixteen year old Steve Thomas in 2002 during a brawl at the defunct Platinum Club in Louisiana.

The rapper has been under house arrest since he was released on $500,000 bond in 2006 after his murder conviction was overturned and he was granted a new trial.

According to The Times Picayune, C- Murder's girlfriend and three of his family members testified Wednesday that the rapper was asleep at the time police claim he was out of range but Judge Hans Liljeberg raised C- Murder's bond and sent him back behind bars.

"I don't think it’s terribly unjust," said Liljeberg.

C-Murder can still get out of jail if he pays the bond. The rapper’s re-trial on second degree murder charges is scheduled to begin on April 20th.

Gucci Mane To Be Released From Jail This Weekend

Gucci Mane is looking to return home from county jail sometime this coming weekend after serving close to six months for a probation violation.

Gucci’s own imprint So Icey Records and management company Mizay Entertainment are preparing a “Welcome Home Weekend” bash at Metronome Studios where they will record a mixtape to celebrate. Sponsored by, the party will include various ATL all-stars like Gucci affiliates OJ Da Juice Man and Nicki Minaj. DJ Holiday is on board to host the disc.

“What better way to come home than to connect with friends and colleagues you haven’t seen in a while, by going into the lab and recording all of the hits you’ve come up with while you’re away,” Portia Kirkland, vice president of Marketing for Mizay/So Icey said in a statement. “Having great talent all in one room without the pen and the paper in the booth will make for a great homecoming and we’ll make sure Hood Affair Films will be there to capture it all.”

It is uncertain what day the rapper will be actually released from behind bars, but it is believed to be anytime between Friday, March 13th and Sunday March 15th.

As previously reported, Gucci was sent to Fulton County Jail on September 12, 2008 for only completing 25 hours of a mandated 600 hours of community service stemming from a prior assault charge. A judge originally sentenced him to one year in prison for the violation along with two and a half years on probation and 600 more hours of community service.

Uncle Murda Avoids Jail, Pleads No Contest To Identity Fraud

Uncle Murda has been convicted of attempting to use a fraudulent California identification card at Los Angeles International Airport, the L.A. city attorney's office said Last Friday (March 6th).

"It was a legitimate ID. But it was the ID of another individual," said Frank Mateljan, a spokesman for the city attorney's office. "He was trying to pass it off as his own. His motivation for doing so is unknown."

Murda pleaded "no contest" to one count of possession of a counterfeit ID, according to a statement from City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo's office. "Commissioner Mark Zuckman sentenced Grant to 18 months probation and ordered him to perform 50 hours of community service," the statement said.

The case against Murda stems from a May 2008 incident when a screener at LAX examined an ID card presented by Murda and determined it was fraudulent, the city attorney’s office said. When police investigated, they found that although the ID bore a photograph of Grant, the number belonged to another person. Police confiscated and destroyed the ID card, officials said.

Uncle Murda, who was reportedly grazed by a bullet as he sat in a parked car in Brooklyn in January 2008, is prohibited from possessing another individual's identity information without permission for the length of his probation.

The case against Uncle Murda was part of the city attorney's LAX Security Enhancement Initiative that was launched in March 2007, officials said.

Baker, who was rushed to a nearby hospital and is in stable condition, told police he did not know the men who shot him.

Police revealed that prior to the shooting they were called to the club after a fight took place outside the venue. They also said that the club's video-surveillance system "mysteriously malfunctioned" .

C-Murder Accused Of Violating House Arrest, Thrown In Jail

C- Murder was booked into a Louisiana jail today (March 9) for allegedly violating his house arrest.

According to The Associated Press, police claim that the rapper's electronic monitor indicated early Monday morning that he was out of range for about 10 minutes.

Ron Rakosky, C- Murder's lawyer, claims that his client was at home sleeping when he received a call from authorities at 3 a.m. notifying him that the monitor indicated he was out of range.

During a hearing last month, prosecutors tried to persuade a judge to throw C-Murder in jail claiming that the rapper had repeatedly violated his house arrest but their request was turned down.

C-Murder testified during the February hearing that he had never left his home.

The rapper's aunt, Joyce Marie Miller, also took the stand and said that C- Murder had never left his home. She also claimed that the monitor appeared to malfunction at times.

C-Murder could see his bond increased if the accusations stick.

The rapper's re-trial on second degree murder charges is scheduled to begin on April 20th.

Diddy Settles Louis Vuitton Lawsuit

Sean 'Diddy' Combs has settled a copyright infringement lawsuit with fashion house Louis Vuitton, ending a dispute over product placement in various Danity Kane videos.

The Bad Boy mogul and Warner Music Group were sued by executives at the luxury label for unauthorized use of Louis Vuitton's intellectual property.

In the legal papers, filed in Paris, France in August 2008, Combs' company was accused of using the Louis Vuitton logo in two of the girl group's music videos, as well as in album packaging photos for their self-titled 2006 release.

The two parties reached a deal on Thursday. Combs has agreed to remove all visual references to the trademarks from future releases of the videos and album in question. That won't be too tough as Danity Kane broke up in February.

The financial terms of the settlement have not been released.

T.I.'s Visit To Brooklyn School Cancelled; Officials Say It Was ‘Inappropriate’

Officials of a Brooklyn middle school cancelled T.I.'s appearance at the school Friday (March 7) claiming that the rapper's visit was 'inappropriate'.

T.I.'s visit to Crown Heights' Middle School of the Arts would have aired on the rapper's current MTV reality show Road To Redemption and Vibe magazine editor Danyel Smith was going to serve as the school's principal for day.

T.I. graces the latest issue of Vibe Magazine and the officials believe that the rapper and Smith were more interested in promoting themselves rather than reaching out to the children.

Over the past year, T.I. has been visiting schools nationwide to discourage them from joining gangs or partaking in illegal activities.

His visits are part of the 1,500 hours of community service he was ordered to perform by judge for the federal weapons charges he picked up in October 2007.

T.I. is due to begin a year-long jail term on March 27.

N.W.A. Movie In The Works

New Line Cinema is developing Straight Outta Compton, an urban drama about N.W.A. (a.k.a. Niggaz With Attitude), the hip hop group that helped pioneer the gangsta rap movement in the '80s and early '90s.

The project will chronicle the rise and fall of the rap quartet, founded by Eazy-E, Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and MC Ren, whose songs were so incendiary (i.e. "F--- tha Police") they were banned from radio playlists but still sold millions of albums.

Then came the inevitable fiery breakup, a grudge match between the former bandmates, and Eazy-E's tragic death due to AIDS.

The film's producers, which include Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, and Tomica Wright (Eazy-E's widow), and Circle of Confusion Entertainment, are now actively searching for a director along the lines of Curtis Hanson (8 Mile).
