This news is no surprise, and was prematurely reported back in May. But, reports are claiming that Vibe magazine is now close to shutting its doors, becoming yet another victim of the recession.
According to DailyFinance.com, multiple sources from within and outside the company confirmed rumors of the long-running print magazine.
While an official statement has been released, CFO Angela Zucconi told the website that one would come "by the end of the day. That's all I can say at this point."
Danyel Smith, Vibe's former Editor-in-chief released this statement, further confirming reports of the mag's closing:

Scott Storch is now actively seeking buyers for his $20 million publishing catalog through I.I.A.M.G., Inc.
The highly sought after catalog is filled with songs written by Mariah Carey, Beyonce', Chris Brown, 50 Cent, and Justin Timberlake to name a few.
I.I.A.M.G. will negotiate on Storch's behalf to sign over half of its copyright ownership in exchange for administrative and business functions in connection with the compositions.
"Scott is an amazing song writer with hundreds of hit compositions. We look forward to soliciting potential partners to purchase the catalog at its true market value," said I.I.A.M.G. President Derek Jackson.

Following reports of a major bidding war between three major labels, Drake has reportedly come to a decision, opting to sign a deal with Cash Money / Universal MoTown.
According to published reports, inside sources say the deal is done, joining a Cash Money Records roster that boasts Lil Wayne, and Birdman.
During a BET Awards after-party on Sunday night (June 28), the Canadian rapper promised that an announcement for the deal was forthcoming.
"There's an album coming out, hopefully by the end of this year. The craziest part, I, uh, you'll hear about the deal," Drake said.
If you noticed, the rapper performed alongside Lil Wayne during the BET Awards. However, he was sitting down during the performance. Why? Because he had an injury.
"I just take it a day at a time," he explained of the injury. "I actually, I tore my ACL. So yeah, I'm back on the canes so yeah, to perform today was a bit of a challenge, but you know, I got through it man and it was a great thing."
On his Twitter, he promised fans a better performance next time: "I performed sitting down because I had no choice. I'll make it up to y'all that's my word!"
According to previous reports, both Universal Motown and Atlantic Records, and one other label, were involved in a major bidding war to sign Drake. Sources told Billboard.com, it was "one of the biggest bidding wars ever".
Warner Music Group's CEO Lyor Cohen and COO Julie Greenwald were on-hand for his recent New York show, which fueled the buzz of Drake, creating speculation that WMG was making a serious play as well.
Drake told Billboard.com previously that the label he chooses will add to the buzz he's already created.
"Just know that whatever label we sign to it'll be because they'll add to what we've created on our own," he said. "I am very happy in my situation now, which is signed to Cortez [Bryant] and Gee Roberson at Young Money and management through 'Hip Hop Since 1978.' The most important thing for me is being around my team -- they are stronger than any label."
Drake's official debut will be titled Thank Me Laterbe on tour this summer with Lil Wayne, Young Jeezy and Soulja Boy Tell'em as part of the Young Money Presents: America's Most Wanted Music Festival.

XXL has reported that Scott Storch’s grand theft auto charge was recently dismissed.
As previously reported, Storch was accused of stealing a leased Bentley earlier this year by luxury dealership, Atlas Leasing in Florida. The company pressed charges against the super producer, after they claimed he failed to return a 2004 Bentley Flying Spur, seven months past the due date.
Storch on the other hand plead not guilty in April and now his lawyer Bradford Cohen says the case has been thrown out, due to a technicality. Apparently the hitmaker, who was facing five years behind bars for the charges, did not receive the proper written warning.
“You have to give seven days notice prior to filing a police report,” Cohen explained about the Florida law. “The notice that was sent to him was dated September 2 and the police report was filed September 9, but the letter actually went out in October. So I essentially discussed the failure to adhere to the notice requirement and I also discussed the fact that the car wasn’t in his possession at the time that it was to be returned.“
Cohen confirmed the rumors that the Bentley in question, was a gift Storch gave to then girlfriend Lil’ Kim. “He gave them the address for Lil Kim or someone in his camp gave [them] Kim Jones’s address where the car was located. And he said ‘I don’t have the car, I would give it back to you if I had it, here’s where it is.’’
In addition, Cohen argued that Storch did not owe the company any money for the car. “He leased the car in ‘04. Gave $51,000 down, leased it for like $4,200 a month for the next 37 months. So essentially his payments were like $199,000 dollars. The car’s value was $200,000. So they were made whole anyways and when they recovered the car they ended up selling the car for like $150-160,000 and they essentially made like double the value of the car. That wasn’t the reason they dismissed the case but they took all of that into consideration.”
Tru Life has reportedly been indicted and is being held without bail for allegedly murdering Chris Guerrero, 20, and stabbing Jason Grey, 27, who is in critical condition.
According to the New York Post, Life was busted along with his brother, Marcus, last week on murder and attempted-murder charges after an altercation at 330 E. 26th St, NYC, at 9:30 a.m. on June 15.
The fight began earlier that morning at Club Pasha on West 46th Street, according to sources.
According to reports, there was an altercation outside the New York City hotspot resulting in two men being stabbed.
The two stabbing victims -- Jason Grey, 27, and Chris Guerrero, 20 -- had gone to Bellevue for treatment, but left because the wait was too long.
They were intercepted nearby by Life and his brother, police said.
Guerrero was killed, and Grey was left in critical condition.
Early reports suggested Life's brother was the one wanted by police, he is currently being held for allegedly jumping in on the attack.
Coolio reached a plea deal in court on Friday (June 26) in connection with a March drug arrest at LAX airport, which would send him to rehab instead of jail.
According to the Associated Press, the 45-year-old rapper pleaded guilty to felony cocaine possession in exchange for 18 months in rehab.
Coolio was arrested on March 6 at LAX International Airport, after airport authorities found crack cocaine during a search of his luggage. The rapper even grabbed a screener's arm to prevent a search of his luggage, said reports.
As part of the plea deal, misdemeanor charges of battery and possession of a smoking device were dismissed.
After he completes his 18-month rehab stint, he can request that his case be dismissed.
He originally pleaded not guilty to the charges. He is now due in court September 28 for a report on his progress.
