Gun possession charges against comedian Katt Williams were dropped by Manhattan prosecutors thursday (July 23).
Williams was slapped with the charges following a 2008 arrest in which police found three guns in his 10 car envoy.
According to The New York Daily News, the charges against Williams were dropped because the guns were registered to two of the comedian's bodyguards.
Williams appeared in court but did not speak.
"We are very pleased the district attorney did the right thing here," said Williams’ lawyer, Charles Ross.
Williams is currently gearing up to release his latest stand-up special DVD titled Who You Callin' Crazy? in October.

Yung Berg's lawyer has shot down claims that the Chicago rapper assaulted a woman at his home last week.
As reported earlier, Chelsea Berry claimed Berg attacked her at his house last Wednesday (July 13) after they got into an argument.
Berry claimed that the incident left her with a black eye. She would file a police report the following day.
Berg's lawyer, Jeremy M. Rosen, tells Allhiphop that the rapper knows Berry but did not harm her.
“The allegations are entirely false and without merit,” Rosen says. “Yung Berg would never conduct himself in such a manner. This is clearly a pathetic attempt for publicity."
Berg is currently working on his second album titled The Love Project which is slated for September release. The rapper is also planning a reality show.
Six people were shot and wounded at the second annual 'Trae Day' celebration Wednesday (July 22).
According to The Houston Chronicle, the drive by shooting took place at the parking lot of Texas Southern University where local parents and children were being treated to live performances and family-friendly events.
Last year, the Houston City Council proclaimed July 22nd as 'Trae Day' in honour of local rapper Trae who has been active with helping at-risk youth in the community. A similar family event took place last year in celebration of 'Trae Day'
Police believe the shootings were gang-related. The six people who were shot are currently hospitalized and did not suffer life threatening injuries.
Trae and his associates had already left the venue before the shooting occurred.
"We're very depressed about it and we feel like it's a black eye on an otherwise very community-driven event," said Nancy Byron, Trae's publicist.

A New York judge thursday (July 23) ordered Nas to pay $55,000 a month in combined spousal and child support to his ex-wife, R&B singer Kelis.
Kelis filed for divorce from the New York bred rapper in April. She claimed Nas had left her high and dry since their break-up and she took the rapper to court to get spousal support and child support for their son who was born this week.
According to TMZ, Nas also has to pay for the mortgage of the Los Angeles residence he shared with Kelis and pay $35,000 to her lawyer. He also has to pay for his new born's nurse, prenatal expenses and medical insurance.
This is a letter from former Grand Hustle recording artist Alfamega, that he sent to T.I. after several attempts at a sit down with the king. Alfa's camp says that T.I. sent word that if he'd like to speak with him, he must pen a letter. Here is that letter
Read the full letter after the jump:
Hopefully, this letter will find you in the very best of spirits. With that being said, let's get straight to the point. You once said, "... Ay, I don't talk behind a n**** back, I say it in his face." Well, consider this letter as me showing you my face. Look, I understand that business is business, therefore you have to manage yours the way you see fit. On the real, I'm not coming to you as a disgruntled crying assed b*tch who's mad about being let go. I'm coming to you as a man who is disappointed that he was publicly exiled by a friend. You've often said that you're a man of your words, but homie, you are not being true to your words. Instead, you're trying to play me like I'm a pawn in your own personal game of chess.
I'm sitting here contemplating my present circumstances and I'm astonished. Hommie, I rode for you when there was no one else there to ride for you. 24/7, I was on call for you pimp. On many occasions, I sidelined my family choosing to risk my early demise for you. With a little cheddar, you can easily employ dudes to kill for you all day every day. Conversely, try finding someone who will put their life on the line and die for you; it would be easier to arm a boy scout with a Swiss army knife and send him to Afghanistan to find Bin Laden and the Taliban. Seriously, I could have died during many instances that I stepped up for you on. I'm dismayed by the fact that you -- of all folk -- would leave me treading water in the middle of the ocean with my situation.
I was the first person you called when you got into that altercation in LA with Shaka's DTP people. Without any questions, I was right there ready to go to war for you. At one time, a lot of dudes were questioning how you got that year and a day, so the word in the streets was that you were a snitch. I went off in those same streets for you. Shawty Lo dropped a song that had a verse in it disrespecting you and your wife. I stood up for you and went off when he disrespected you at the Dirty Awards. I got pepper sprayed, blasted down by the police and everything. I did that for you and your wife. Man, Shawty Lo didn't utter a single word about me and my wife; it was all about you and yours.
Time after time, I defended your honor because you were my dawg; if they disrespected you, they disrespected me. Every time you were presented with a problem, I stepped up without any limitations, hesitations or stipulations. I wasn't around you with my hands held out like other begging assed dudes. Point blank, we've been through way too much for me to have to maneuver through a bunch of bureaucracy. Yet when I attempted to reach out to you through Doug, you sent word back telling me to write you a letter.
Frankly, I'm taking it as another b*tch slap to the face therefore I resolved that I would gladly oblige your request. However, I decided that since you went publicly with your statement, I may as well go public with mine. After all, there's no sense in hiding now. Plus, I'm hoping to avoid any further misunderstandings.
Essentially, what I'mm trying to convey is that this situation can bee squashed in the same manner that we've resolved disagreements in the past. I want you to pull up the red tape and let's communicate one on one. In other words, I want your publicists, managers, artists, blogger, and everyone else excluded. Let's straighten this out like two men because before all of this we were friends. Doug has my number, call me.
Don't take this as a challenge against your manhood; I've never questioned that. Don't take this as a physical threat against you or anyone else; I'mm not trying to get off violently, so no guns, knives, fists, etc. In fact, don't even take it as me disrespecting you; I will never disrespect you, your family or anyone close to you. Even more, I still will not allow anyone to disrespect you; even the dudes trying to side with me by disrespecting you on my behalf. Because,, when the dust settles, I will still respect you and consider you my friend.
Once this is published, I'm giving you a week to call me. Should you choose to not call me within that timeframe, I'll know exactly where we stand. At that point, we'll separate and we can get it off like Muhammad Ali v/s George Foreman in The Rumble in the Jungle. It will be what it is, you on your side of the ring and me on mine. Instead of a boxing ring, it'll be the studios and instead of boxing gloves, it'll be me lyrically pounding you.
Hope you come home soon pimp, keep your head up and let all the bull go. Don't worry about propaganda, people always gone talk.
On the real,
Cedric Zellers – AKA Alfamega
PS: I keep hearing rumors. Currently, the word on thee streets is that you put some money on my head. The other rumor is that I cannot come back to the hood, but I heard that one while I was in the hood. So, I don't give rumors credibility. All I'm saying is that you need to handle your business; some of the people around you don't need to be the re[ason]. There a re[ason] people in your camp who keep popping off at the mouth; specifically, your lil dude Pee Wee. He should exercise some restraint and keep that mouth under control. That's how wars get started between two nations that are supposed to be allies.
PPS: The fat dude in the group you recently signed ran up on my 15 year old daughter while she was at the skating rink. He had a camera and was talking sh** to her about rather or not there was beef between the two of us. On some real shh*t, you need to control your kingdom and PLEASE keep your motha f***in troops straight. I'm only human; I ddon't play when it comes to my family. If they ddon't fall back, I'm going to take it as an attack and strategically lay plans as I'm sure you would if it were your family.

Jay-Z did a little overseas press recently, addressing a few hot issues including rumors that he blocked Chris Brown from landing a Michael Jackson tribute and Game's recent disses.
In the interview, which will debut this weekend on Tim Westwood's BBC radio show, Jay denied rumors that he had Brown's scheduled Michael Jackson tribute at the BET Awards canceled.
"That's the silliest rumor I've ever heard," said the rapper/businessman. "First, let me categorically deny that. That's not even my style. If I got a problem with Chris Brown, I got a problem with Chris Brown. I haven't said anything -- I haven't said anything live, or behind the scenes. Whatever. I don't agree with what he did, and that's it."
"That's a sucker move, I wouldn't do it," Jay added.
The rapper did not have anything bad to say about Chris Brown as the interview continued in the short preview clip, saying "all of us are flawed human beings."
Westwood quickly moved on to other controversy, changing the topic to The Game, who Jay-Z mentioned in a freestyle during a recent show in Las Vegas, spawning numerous disses from the Compton rapper during his overseas tour.
Jay-Z pointed out that he spit the line: "I'm not talking about Game," asking how it could be a diss. Then, laughed it off before closing with "Tell groupie to get over it."
He also confirmed that the next single off his upcoming Blueprint 3 album would be "Run This Town," featuring Rihanna and Kanye West.

Young Berg has landed in hot water once again. The "Sexy Lady" hitmaker has been accused of assault by a woman who attended a party at his California home last week.
According to reports, a young woman claims Berg assaulted her during the festivities, leaving her with a black eye and subsequently stranded in the middle of no where.
Chelsea Berry claims she was enjoying a night at Berg's house in Woodland Hills, California last Wednesday, July 15th (09), along with two of her friends, three of his pals, someone from his label and another woman.
Berg allegedly threw Berry in a swimming pool and later hit her several times, giving her a black eye after he disappeared into a room with another woman and she became jealous.
"He striked (sic) me with the palm of his hand, like about three times. On my head, on my eye, and I was falling back like, ‘What did I do? What did I do? And that’s when he told me to leave" she tells AllHipHop.
Then (his friend) Sincere was like, ‘Calm down, I’ll give her a ride.’”Berry alleges Ward then drove her a short distance before ordering her out of the car and smashing her phone to stop her from calling any friends.
She adds, "(We) end up driving all the way up this hill in the middle of nowhere, I had no idea where I was at, and he tells me to get out.
I was crying and saying ‘I’m gonna get you back. I’m about to call my friends when I get out.’ And that’s when Berg gets out and comes over to me and says he’s sorry, and then he grabs my phone and throws it and my phone (was) completely shattered.”
A police report was filed last Thursday, charges against Berg are pending.

Word on the net was Gucci was thrown back in jail over the weekend because of violating his probation but the rapper's attorney, Dwight Thomas, says there is no truth to the rumours.
"Gucci Mane is not incarcerated. His attorneys are addressing all pending issues through the courts," Thomas said.

A New Orleans judge has rejected a request by prosecutors in the C- Murder case to postpone the rapper's trial which is set to kick off next month.
C- Murder, born Corey Miller, is accused of shooting and killing 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a defunct New Orleans nightclub in 2002.
Last week, Juan Flowers, a jailed friend of C- Murder claimed that he was the one who killed the teenager that the rapper is accused of killing.
Prosecutors had asked presiding Judge Hans Liljeberg to postpone the trial to give them time to investigate Flowers' claims.
They argued that Flowers had denied being involved in the killing when questioned by authorities in 2003.
Flowers is currently serving a life sentence in Georgia for a 2007 murder.
According to The Times Picayune, Liljeberg shot down the prosecutors’ request to postpone the trial Monday (July 20).
The prosecutors’ still plan on investigating why Flowers changed his story. They will be retrieving prison visitation records and Flowers’ phone conversations.
Liljeberg granted C- Murder’s lawyer’s request to have Flowers transported to New Orleans to testify in the rapper’s trial.
C- Murder's trial on the Thomas murder charge is slated to begin on August 3rd.
The rapper is currently behind bars after pleading no contest to two counts of attempted second degree murder in May.
C-Murder was accused of trying to shoot the owner of a nightclub and a bouncer in August 2001.
He was slapped with a 10 year sentence but he will be given credit for time already served including a period of home incarceration.

Mobb Deep rapper and G-Unit affiliate Prodigy recently revealed via his blog that he has been writing an autobiography during his time behind bars.
The Queens bred rapper, who is serving a 3 year sentence for gun charges, says he plans to release the book on the same day as his release.
“I have an autobiography coming out the same time that I get out," Prodigy wrote. “I can guarantee that my autobiography will be relevant 100 years from now because it’s not some bullshit written just to sound good.”
“People will learn from my book and can even share the information with their children. When you are dealing with the soul and well being of you and your children, you better believe you gotta deal with reality and pure, good, clean information that is accurate,” he added.
