Former Shady Records artist Obie Trice has spoken out against BET, claiming they wouldn't play his record because Eminem skipped the BET awards three years in a row.
Obie Trice also stated Eminem's 2006 "comeback" to the BET awards was set up to push his records.
"I can only talk about my last album, Second Round's On Me. There was a lot of things going on with that record as far as promotion-wise and the marketing scheme of the record, and then a bunch of issues with MTV not playing my lead single with Akon, and that kind of hindered things -- we needed that video look," Trice explained.
"BET wouldn't play the video because Eminem had missed the BET Awards three years in a row, so he had to shake hands with them, kiss and make up with them by going back to the BET Awards with Busta Rhymes that one year to fix that situation so we can get music played. So honestly, it's the push of the label, the push of the radio playing the music and just working the record. Some people work records, and if it ain't an instant hit they leave it alone. That's kind of like Interscope's format. You have other labels that work records for six months--they believe in this record, and they believe in that record. So it's just about the mechanics behind the whole situation, I believe."
BET has not responded to Obie's claims as of press time.

Kid Cudi has reportedly been kicked off Lady Gaga's 'Monster Tour' for punching a fan during a performance in Vancouver last week.
The incident occurred after an audience member threw a wallet onstage while Cudi was performing.
Michael Sharpe, the man who Cudi punched, decided not to press charges against the rapper because prior to him throwing the wallet onstage, someone else had thrown the wallet onstage and Cudi tossed itt owards him.
Sharpe claimed he threw the wallet back up onstage because it wasn't his. Cudi then came toward Sharpe and began punching him.
It is currently unknown who will be replacing Cudi.
Cudi is the second rapper to be kicked off Gaga's tour. Kanye West was initially slated to hit the road with Gaga but was dropped after causing a ruckus at the MTV Awards in October.
Diddy's wax replica, which was dressed in a white tuxedo jacket and black pants, was unveiled at Madame Tussauds Museum in New York on Tuesday, December 15.
P. Diddy is the latest celebrity who gets wax treatment after some other music performers, like Snoop Dogg, Tupac and Notorious B.I.G. just to name a few. The 40-year-old hip-hop singer attended the launching of his wax replica at Madame Tussauds Museum in New York on Tuesday, December 15.
Spotted sporting a sharp gray suit, Diddy met his wax statue which was dressed in a white tuxedo jacket and black pants. He was accompanied to the event by his mother, sister, nephew and son Justin. Speaking to MTV about his wax, he said he had to stand still for three hours in front of the sculpting team while they captured his likeness.
He, moreover, gushed "I went with the most recent likeness of myself. They wanted to do me live, how I was. It wasn't like I could give them an old shot. What you see is what you get. This is the first time I'm seeing it. It's to my liking. It looks very realistic - one of the more realistic ones."
Posing with his replica, Diddy took a moment to rub the figure's mouth and kept smiling. "I wanna thank my mother, she was the originator of the wax figure," he jokingly stated. "It's hard to explain looking at yourself like this," he continued. "They did an excellent job."
Former Bad Boy rapper Shyne is wasting no time after doing hard time.
The Belize born lyricist is already recording new material barely three months after being released from a New York prison and deported back to his native home.
According to Hip Hop Enquirer, Shyne has requested producer Shawty Redd to travel to Belize to executive produce his upcoming album.

Hip Hop Enquirer’s Dennis Byron confirmed the news by revealing he will be photographing the recording sessions held by Shyne and Shawty Redd.
"[Shawty's] management contacted me several weeks ago about flying me to Belize to capture the behind the scenes of Shawty Redd working with Shyne, so of course I jumped at the opportunity," Byron divulged. "I had already photographed Shawty earlier in his c areer and I was also at Shyne’s trial in New York City nine years ago so it’s like a reunion."
Shyne is not only working on his own project. The rapper will be appearing on DJ Khaled's fourth compilation titled Victory which hits stores in February 2010.
Shyne appears on a track titled 'All My Life" which features Akon and dancehall star Mavado.
According to Reuters, Lil Wayne's often delayed Rebirth album was accidentally shipped to 500 Amazon customers this week despite the fact that Cash money records had changed the album's release date.
Last week, Wayne's label (Cash Money/Universal) announced to retailers and rap news outlets that Rebirth would not be hitting stores on December 21st but on February 2nd, 2010.
Unfortunately, someone at Amazon didn't get that message and 500 customers who had pre-ordered Rebirth got their copies of the album in their mailboxes this week.
Amazon has not yet released a comment on the mishap. Lil Wayne's camp has also chosen not to comment on the mix-up.
Sources close to Wayne's camp believe that new material will be added to the official version of Rebirth that will be released in February.

A man beaten outside Jay-Z's bar in Atlantic City, New Jersey has filed suit against the club and its bouncers.
Security guards were caught on camera attacking Bryant Norwood and two other customers in the parking lot of the rap superstar's 40/40 Club in October after they were ejected from the establishment.
The bouncers accused of assaulting the men have since been fired.
Norwood, the first man attacked in the video, has now filed suit in state court in New Jersey, claiming he sustained "diverse personal injuries" and "permanent injuries".
According to TMZ, he is demanding a "substantial amount of money" from the 40/40 Club and the bouncers, claiming the "bullies" attacked him for "no reason" as he left the establishment.
His attorney, adds, "These so-called security personnel are going to have to answer why Mr. Norwood was lying on the ground being kicked and why he was punched in the head as he tried to escape from them. The 40/40 Club is going to have to answer why they hired people like this to supposedly protect their patrons and maintain order in their establishment."
Representatives for the club have refused to comment.
Four people were arrested late Friday (December 13) for being drunk and disorderly outside the House of Blues during a performance by Ice Cube, police said.
The incident happened around 11 p.m. at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip.
Authorities said the four suspects were intoxicated.
"Some people had too much to drink, and deputies took two of them into custody," said Sgt. Dave Valentine of the sheriff's West Hollywood station. "One or two others tried to get involved and got in a scrap with the deputies."
At least one of the four was booked on suspicion of battery on a peace officer, Valentine said.
No one was hurt, and the incident didn't affect the concert.
