T.I. OffIcially On His Way To A Halfway House

T.I. was officially been released from a low-security federal prison in Forrest City, Arkansas today (December 22).

Tip is expected to report to Dismas Charities Atlanta West correctional center tonight, where he will spend three months.

T.I. was sentenced to 366 days in prison after an October 2007 incident, in which federal agents caught him attempting to purchase machine guns and silencers.

After he has finished his stay at Dismas Charities Atlanta West, the rapper must complete 500 hours of community service, in addition to another 23 days of house arrest.

T.I. is expected to work during the three months he is confined to the halfway house, according to reports.

Kid Cudi Arrested At Gunpoint

Kid Cudi was pulled over at gunpoint by police in a case of mistaken identity in Los Angeles yesterday (December 21).

The rapper, who was in the city to play live dates having recently pulled out of Lady GaGa's 'Monster Ball Tour', had been doing a photoshoot with NME outside the Joyrich store on Melrose Avenue.

Shortly after leaving the store with his entourage in two SUVs and a Jeep, the rapper was pulled over by an officer on Fairfax Avenue.

Two police cars cordoned off the road while a further three pulled up next to Cudi's vehicles. Passengers in the cars were then ordered out with their hands on their heads, before being made to kneel on the ground where they were handcuffed. It was only then that Los Angeles Police Department officers realised it was a case of mistaken identity.

After the passengers had been released, the officer in charge explained that a resident in the vicinity of the shop had mistakenly identified the party as being involved in a burglary, before allowing Cudi's entourage to go on its way.

Kid Cudi later told NME that he wasn't sure what had happened.

"Who knows, really, the story changed a bunch," he said. "I'm just happy to be back. I'm a free man! For that moment I was not free. I was in handcuffs. It did not feel very comfortable."

He added that he did not begrudge the police for the error: "We're in LA, it's a rowdy place in the United States, you know? And a lot of shit goes down. And these cops have to use force. So it's, like, I understand that they were doing their job. I just wish we weren't in that place at that time."

Lil Wayne Evades Charges After Arrest

Lil' Wayne will be walking away from a drug bust unscathed, at least according to his lawyer.

Wezzy along with 11 other people, was detained Friday (December 18) in Falfurrias, Texas by the United States Border Patrol after marijuana was discovered on board his tour bus.

The Border Patrol says Wayne and the others were questioned and charges are pending. His lawyer tells TMZ that while some people did receive citations, Lil' Wayne was not one of them.

Wayne pled guilty in October to attempted criminal possession of a weapon stemming from a 2007 traffic stop of his tour bus. He is set to spend a year in jail and will appear for sentencing in February 2010.

Willie D Of The Geto Boys Pleads Guilty To Wire Fraud

Former Geto Boys rapper Willie D has pleaded guilty in a Houston court to wire fraud charges, officials said.

The charges stem from his purported sales of Apple iPhones through a company known as Texas One Wireless, U.S. Attorney Tim Johnson and FBI Special Agent in Charge Richard C. Powers have announced.

The rapper admitted at a court hearing Friday (December 18) to posing as an electronics salesman and using eBay to establish his credibility with international buyers.

Once a buyer showed interest, Willie D said he directed the buyer outside of eBay to conduct sales via e-mail.

Numerous foreign individuals placed orders with the rapper for iPhones and other electronics. Willie D required payment to be electronically transferred to his bank account. Once the transaction was confirmed, Willie D would send tracking numbers for packages that were never shipped.

Twenty-nine individuals were defrauded of approximately $132,303 between September 2008 and April 2009, officials said.

"Financial frauds, whether committed in person or via the Internet, victimize individuals, communities and the economy at large," Powers said in a statement. "Those who feel these crimes can be committed with impunity will learn that the Houston Area Cyber Crimes Task For ce will continue to provide investigative and analytic resources to combat and discourage Internet fraud."

Willie D faces up to 20 years' imprisonment to be followed by up to a five-year term of supervised release and a maximum fine of $250,000. As part of his agreement, the rapper will make full restitution at or before sentencing.

Willie D's sentencing has been set for April 23. He will be permitted to remain on bond pending his sentencing, officials said.
