DJ Absolut Sues Drake For ‘Best I Ever Had’

DJ Absolut, has reportedly filed a lawsuit over unpaid royalties for his contribution to Drake's 2009 smash hit, "Best I Ever Had."


According to a New York Daily News report, Absolut claims his beats were used in the hit song without his knowledge.

Apparently, Absolut gave the beat to rapper Kia Shine, the writer of Best I ever Had, who agreed in December 2008 to pay him 20% royalties from anything made from the beat. But, Shine secretly went to Drake last September and cut a deal to get a 25% interest in the song's copyright -- an arrangement that has already netted him $1 million, the lawsuit documents claim.

Absolut says Shine and/or his reps have refused to return calls from his lawyer, so they've filed a legal suit in Queens Supreme Court last week against shine for breach of contract.

Drake has publicly denied Shine had anything to do with the writing of the song.

A Tale Of 3 Covers: Jay-z Vs Drake Vs Juvenile















There has been alot of talk in the blogosphere that Juvenile new album "Beast mode" bit off of Drake's "Thank Me Later", But no one seems the think that Drake bit the off of Jay-z's apperance on Village Voice Magazine. As big of a Jay-Z fan Drake is, I have a hard time beliving that he never saw this cover. What do ya'll think?
