This year's class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees were announced this week, and it includes two legendary hip hop acts
500 voters decide who gets inducted into the 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Both LL and the Beasties have received previous nods without making it into the Hall.
To be nominated, musicians have to meet the Rock Hall's standard induction requirement of releasing a first single or album at least 25 years prior to the year of nomination.
The few hip-hop acts to be inducted include Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five in 2007, and Run-DMC in 2009 who were presented with the honor by Eminem during the induction ceremony.
Inductees will be announced in December with the 26th Annual Induction Ceremony following in March 2011 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City.

Almost a year after Em first dissed his wife, Mariah Carey, Nick Cannon has officially challenged Eminem to a boxing match.
A few weeks ago, Nick dropped a diss track towards Em Called "Imma Slick Nick" in which he puts on a faux Slick Rick accent and defends his wife for the diss that Em released called Warning (Mariah Diss).
Well now it appears Cannon has switched lanes and challenged Em to a boxing match for charity.
He has even gone so far as to create a facebook page to promote the event. Seen here

Kid Cudi has pled guilty to a misdemeanor drug possession charge, and has been senetenced to community service.
According to TMZ Cudi was arrested in June and charged with felony criminal mischief and possession of a controlled substance, following an argument with his girlfriend in New York City.
Reports said took his girlfriend's phone,and smashed it on the ground. When The police arrived to investigate, a glass jar of cocaine was found.
Later the felony charge was dropped in exchange for a guilty plea to a possession charge.
In hiss recent Complex magazine cover story, Cudi explained that his cocaine habit started when his music career began to take off. He told the mag that he used it to get through media days that consisted of back-to-back interviews.
But, since his arrest, Cudi says he's has been clean.
"No more blow," said Cudi. "People do drugs to camouflage emotions and run away from their problems. Now I'm going to deal with certain things as they come, prioritize sh** -- man up, so to speak."
